What a joke! Try flying a 747 Classic in hard IFR, then do an approach to mins. into Incheon, Korea. These clowns don't even have basic VFR flying skills. They say, "Jesus Christ" and they're right.
@madisonelectronic and at 0:15, from the jump seat in response to the instructor's advice to look out the window: "outside's a good place to look unless it's coming at you really fast"
Are you meaning when the aircraft calls out "retard"? No its not the plane commenting on the pilots flying skills but its a part of the auto throttle that brings power to idle at about 30ft or so to allow the plane to enter its flare mode for landing.
Look up TA flight 1951 at Amsterdam to find out what happens when it goes wrong.
@afflictionforlife I KNOW WHAT ``RETARD`` MEANS! IF YOU PUT THE VIDEO AT 1:09, YOU WILL HEAR ``dual input``-------> this was the aural alert that i wanted to know
what I really would like to know.. what happens in the simulator if you do a bad landing (that in real life would damage the airplane)? for example if the gear would break in real life, is this also simulated or does it just say "error" ? cool video, wish I could get into one of those simulators one day... but heard it needs lots of electricity and is incredibly expensive
@technofreak0007 Kind of. FFS with motion tilt the hole shell and use gravity. During a takeof the sim tilt back so you stick to your seat. It's limited but simulate prety well what a plane can do in normal operation.
Yeah, including going to 20 feet and then pulling up - he might have even touched down. You make your decision at 300 feet - Boeing calls it "minimums" on the GPWS.
@blueflame53 Than do it! If you really want to do something in your life it is much better to just go for it with anything you've got then having to look back and regret never having tried! I am only 16 but, like you also want to fly airplanes; so I am. In fact I have already gone solo : ) Good luck,
i was in such a simulator too on christmas 2 years or sth ago. i flew an a310 and an a 320 the a310 was pretty hard to handle and i know how hard it is to do a good job. My instructor was that mean to let me flying a little round at madeira which has a really hard approach just have a look
so that goes to every pilot in the world: YOU DO A F***ING GOOD JOB EVERY DAY AND ALL YEAR LONG!!!!!
PS i hardly can it believe it till yet... i sat in this sim w/ 14 or 15 years!!!
If you make a poor approach and a poor final approach [not establishing the centerline early enough]........ the landing will become worse or horrible or you will end with a crash OR
you will decide for a go around!
There are lots of young pilots, and some young and bad pilots
I wonna get like this cockpit cabin at home and play flight Simulator latest version with all payware addons and all airports with full AES support , Wilco, FSP, REX, GEX, And very good AI traffic .........etc ( dreaming..... dreaming......))
@KRDSH931 This is probably a level d full motion certified simulator, used by airlines and aviation schools for advanced training. It's so realistic that they use real world avionics, same ones as the ones you´ll find on the real aircraft and unless you're a professional pilot you will not be able to fly in a sim like this. But anyway can you imagine how much it costs? Well to give you an example a Embraer E-145 Level D Full Motion costs US$ 11 600 000,00.
@KRDSH931 no.. I would prefer being a real pilot. Why spend 10s of millions of dollars for a FS rather than becoming a pilot? (Not being offensive just a random question)
@mark747captain ohhh no it wasn't, the three clicks are a signal that Conditions required for CAT3/CAT2 are no longer fulfilled!! the other two alerts are for final approach i think.
actually they should integrate it with a centrifuge to give pilots very acurate sensations of G-force during accelerations and manouvers. It could be done with a cockpit enclosed in a moving capsule with 3d movement of rotation, tilt and bank providing actual impresions of motion.
@captainntyson - The related video "Qantas Pilots Prepare for Airbus A380s" (The sky news one) said that the Qantas A380 Simulator is worth $38,000,000
what seemed to happen to this guy is what happens to a lot of people when first learning to fly. It is not like driving a car. in a car when you return the steering wheel to center the car goes straight, in a plane you must roll the opposite direction from which you just turned until the aircraft is level, then level the yoke. Qantas is one of the best airlines in the world none of there aircraft have crashed but they came close to when a piece of the cabin blew out causeing a decompression but the pilots at Qantas are really well traind so they landed the plane perfectly all of the aircraft from Qantas used to have a great maintenance record until they started servecing there planes in tailand just because they could save abit of money on repairs what would you choose lives or money lives are more important

Correct. A professional pilot would always remember the wind direction and speed. But considering this is a simulation, and the guy flying is an Air Traffic Controller (see above)- he probably has very little experience on the A380- meaning that although he knows the wind direction and speed, is probably unfamiliar with it's the affect on this airframe- and does not know the amount of correction he will need.
