Wow, the glitch in the first level is completely legal and can be done on the NES version. Trust me, I've done it. You have to stand so that Mario's center is slightly to the left of the ladder and then climb down. It's pretty cool actually.

Classic case of violating the "spirit of the game." Meaning you should have cleared the barrel board legitimately versus using a trick. I'd say "no record" if it were up to me....

The thing is this: Its not a "warp" or "easter egg." Its an obscure glitch that not every player is going to know about. Thus it is not a level playing field. Note I used the term "trick" meaning glitch versus cheat.
