I doubt in real life if the Vatican could forcibly take a British Citizen from his own country or bash his door in with a priest leading the charge. Do you have Search Warrants in the UK???
Yeah we have search warrants, and yeah you're right in reality it seems unlikely the Italian government/church would have any power to forcibly take a citizen.
Having said that, who really knows what happens in high-level government. I'm sure we've got some strong ties somewhere :-)
