  • I am so glad that I have found your video...this makes it very simple for me to texlax! thank u! : )

  • i'm doing this in 2 or 3 days to get my natural hair to blend with my extensions. but i'm scared i will mess up and have straight hair, seeing as I have not used a relaxer in over 3 years. What do you suggest I do?

  • Hey I have a question can u tell me the purpose of texlaxing?

  • if i do this with the just for me texture softener will my curl pattern still remain really curly meaning it would look more curly than straight or will it be more straight than curly?

  • i dont think your ends r thin , i just think its well straight so it wont look matty like some natural hair , and u have good length keep doing what u doing

  • ur hair is pretty and long

  • You have SUCH a nice voice!!

  • I Googled what is texlax? and your blog and video came up. Thank you I have been natural for 6 years and I have 4a/b. My life no longer has time for those 3 hour detangling sessions you talked about on your blog. Thanks for the hair lessons. Now I feel I am prepared to texlax my hair. Your hair is Beautiful and Healthy

  • i like the look of your hair braided with the sating scarf it looks VERY healthy there and i like the color. did you do something different in this video??

  • Comment removed

  • did you leave the perm on the body when you washed in shower?? that sounds DANGEROUS. i hope you didnt get perm all over your beautiful skin. oh lord

  • i'm sorry your hair looks DAMAGED for real. its just not THICK..but if you think its healthy then i guess it is ..

  • @WonderWomanFan4life it also didn't look straight after she rinsed the chemicals out, but she does have a nice head of hair though

  • kinda bugs me that theres no volume :-(

  • loving this video so i av sub u i hope u sub back ....thank u

  • Do you rise the relaxer out as soon as you're done applying it? That's where I get confused.. Thanks.

  • great vid! i think im going to do a lot more sections than 4 also. i feel the perm really does a better job that way.

  • AHHHH I needed to see how you did the back!! Is there a way you can see without all the hassle??

  • what does texlax mean. whats the difference between bone-straight n texlaxed

  • @FukkinBarbie textlax means that u dont get ur hair absolutely straight it basically makes ur curls more manageable

  • @FukkinBarbie Texlax is like a relaxer but the natural hair is not as kinky or as tight after the process is done, which makes it easier to manage. Bone striaght is keepin the relaxer in until the natural hair is completely straight. thats why her hair is so much thicker at the roots than at the bottom.

  • I thought adding natural oils was good, because the vo5 is not natural and has chemicals in it so that can cause a reaction. When i hear people adding moisturizer and deep or regular conditioners, that makes me worried. That's all, but i like your techniques.

  • I used to use that relaxer too until it started thinning my hair

  • yeah girl, It took me 24 minutes last texlax. I dont understand how people do it in 7minutes.

  • i missed it how many weeks post was she?

  • never use metal clips with chemicals

  • @five10queen i agree thanks for ur comment we are all here to help and u were not mean about it.... thats great!

  • @hairspeaks you're very welcome!

  • Relaxer should NEVER be on your scalp.

  • @VeggieSushi but it happens even when u go to the shops.

  • @hairspeaks Okay. It's not supposed to.

  • oh my gosh! your hair is so long! but would you recommend me relaxing my own hair because I'm only 15, but i'll be 16 in a week.

  • I self-relax and my hair does not get that straight, I actually want my ends that straight lol... I will definitely try a method more similar to yours.

I also think it would help to use that smaller application brush for more control, can that be bought at any beauty supply store?

  • how long do you wait after a relaxer before you wash your hair? and would your first wash after a relaxer be a co-wash or shampoo wash?

  • Nice video, can I ask if you can relax already texlaxed hair?

  • Nice video, can I ask if you can relax already texlaxed hair?

  • @rt1glorie Yes, you can but bear in mind that there are risks associated with putting a relaxer on hair that has already been relaxed.

  • Thanks for all your info and your hair is gorgeous... it looks pretty thick to me!

  • @gospeldiva2 Thank u :). It actually got a lot thicker after I cut it.

  • I think your hair is gorgeous! It looks pretty think to me! Thx for all the info, it really helps me in my hair journey!

  • @twilliams9259 at the end of the video, she said exactly why her ends appear thinner...damn, i hate when ppl don't listen then say something disrespectful. i usually don't comment but that was stupid of u lol

  • Why are you using no lye relaxer when its supposed to be more hrmful for hair? Whats your hair type?

  • Wow.. I LOVE the results. I tried a hair relaxer for straight hair, and a lot of my hair just fell off in the shower and it was horrible so I had to cut it boy short. But Hey hair grows and I dig my new hairstyle lol.

  • When I texlax, I add a thick dense oil, like evoo (extra virgin olive oil) or regular castor oil, to the relaxer, I have never heard of using conditioner. Next time I will try mixing both and see what results I have. I had the best results with the castor oil; my hair came out curly and shiny. thanks for sharing your method. BTW, I stopped smoothing my relaxer after I started suffering hair loss, and my dermatologist explained that smoothing the relaxer is very damaging to the hair follicles.

  • ur hair is long and pretty

  • No offense but why are your ends so thin? Are they tex-laxed as well or just regularly relaxed?

  • @twilliams9259 My ends were relaxed bone straight. I thought it was obvious from the video. I say "were" because I cut off those ends in another video.

    btw. No offense taken.

  • @ZanAndRob OMG you are so right...you did CLEARLY mention that those were the bone straight ends in the video. I apologize, the volume on my laptop was acting up and I thought this was another one of those videos on youtube with no audio. Anyway you did an excellent job texlaxing your hair! I am about 6 months post and I am on the fence about going natural or just texlaxin my hair.

  • Great job I like your videos, but how do you combat dryness from this relaxer? I used it in the past and it made my hair dry and brittle and broke it off.

  • what stores can you get the Just for me Relaxer?

  • why did you add the conditioner to the mix? ive never heard of that before, what does it do???

  • hi zan, could you please tell me the difference between texlaxing and texturising if u know. i dunno which one to transition into and could ue a lil help lol. thanks :-)

  • @chocolatechick44 See the video info for the link about texlaxing. It should answer your question. Or go to my website ZanAndRob com and click the "Texlax" link at the top.

  • @chocolatechick44; a texturizer is like a relaxer but milder; however, if you comb it through your hair during application it will straighten your hair just like a relaxer would. ultimately it is also a chemical process. If you enjoy wearing your hair in straight styles a texlax is a better option, but unlike relaxing bone straight, texlaxing gives your hair more body and does not eliminate entirely the curl pattern. A texturizer would give you the appearance of natural hair (just drier). HTH.

  • I just went from natural to texlaxed and my hair in the middle is still pretty much in its natural kinky curly pattern. I was wondering should I texlax the middle of my hair again to just above the ends of my hair when I texlax again in 6 months so that all of my hair can be the same texlaxed texture or should I just grow out my texlaxed hair, then try again in a year or so. Any helpful advice is welcome. Thanks for the video and God Bless:)

  • @mekaziona I personally would correct the underprocessed hair during my next texlax. It defeats the purpose of being texlax if you still have some natural hair mixed in.

  • I love your hair and thanks for doing this video. My hair is badly damaged.I need some advice. Please tell me what type of hair products that prevent breakage and speed up growth.I guess the question i should be asking is,what do you used on your hair? Because its beautiful and strong. Please let me on the secret.

  • @prettyb2004 Thank U. I have a regimen video on my channel or you can visit my website for my regiment and products.

  • my question is ...are you supposed to do the whole head in 7 minutes or after yu do it wait 7 minutes....woodnt tht make some of it straighter thn the rest

  • I love your video! I'd never relaxed my hair on my own before and this video made it so easy. Adding the conditioner really helped 'cause usually I have to buy two kits and being rushed and hate the results and that made the one enough and I now love this process. Thank you so much!

  • @mlevi0411 That's is sooo good to hear. I am glad I simplified the process for you. So So So glad to help :) Thanks for taking the time out to comment on my vid and thank me.

  • Can you please tell me how to go about doing a texlax on virgin hair? I am disappointed with my natural hair. I wish I never BCd. Now I have to start all over again.

  • @natrlchallenge I personally have not texlaxed natural hair, but I have some info and instructions. I will email u.

  • Hey Zan, The whole purpose of texlaxing is that there is no smoothing of the hair after you put the relaxer on the new growth and the amount of time on the hair is reduced. taxlaxing is suppose to keep some of your natural curl pattern, thus keeping the hair thick. I hope this helps.

  • @marvinandjosh : how am i getting crazii n out of hand? dont try to personally insult or offend me for my opinion. and if u havnt noticed, i'm not criticizing ANYONE. i'm just replying to sum1's comment on braids. i came to watch the video because i was curious to see how perms were done. i didnt come to criticize. n i really dont understand y those pple who DO perm their hair get so defensive when sum1 gives their opinion against it. its not like i think badly of u or nething, so plz, grow up.

  • Love your hair thats the length i want my hair to be but right now im arm pit length. What length are you in this video?

  • @L0On3yTun3z Thank you. In the video I am about Bra Strap Length. I cut 3" inches immediately following this video. I actually recorded the hair cut and uploaded it to Youtube. You can check out the video - "How to cut your own hair at home - The fast and easy way- tickin4gold "

  • i don't flat iron my hair but i just use a texlax to loosen my curl, this will be my 2nd time doing it and the first time i did it i applied it to my whole head. the 2nd time around do i do the new growth or my whole head again?

  • @blurawker You only need to do the new growth to touchup your texlax. Do not apply the relaxer to your previously texlaxed hair.

  • Hi ZanAndRob, I love your hair and thanks for doing this video. My hair is badly damaged.I need some advice. Please tell me what type of hair products that prevent breakage and speed up growth.I guess the question i should be asking is,what do you used on your hair? Because its beautiful and strong. Please let me on the secret.

  • wow...adding stuff to the perm?!i would never dare! but thanks for the tips~!i love your video and advice-you are like the big sister i wish i had growing up.

  • @nidagichole Aww...thank u

  • i really like your blog.

  • @hwiseman1 THanX!

  • what is texlaxing? and how is it better for you hair...thanks.

  • @xdeeshaax If you didn't already find it on your own. Check the video info of this video for the link about texlaxing- what it is, how you do it, benefits..etc...

  • love your videos im 4 sure going to start texlaxing instead of relaxing thanks to your videos i now know a way to keep the volume in my hair thanks! keep th evideos coming

  • @shellz2008212 Really...Thank you :) I hope you will like texlaxing as much as I do. You will definitely see a big difference in thickness and volume.

    -Zan

  • Hello, how often do you texlax your hair?

  • @starnevaeh I texlax every 8 weeks, soon to be every 10 weeks.

  • @ZanAndRob Hey, another question. can i use any relaxer and conditioner. also, is texlax the same as texturize?

  • @ZanAndRob I sent you a private message.

  • Has anyone ever told u you favor Meagan Good?

  • @parishiltonheiress LOL. Meagan Good? No, never...there's a first time for everything I guess.

  • its so nice to see a black girl with her own hair and not a weave or braids, very nice .

  • @perciful1 Thank you

  • well, i think its nice if a girl accepted her natural hair instead of perming it. most girls with natural hair braid their hair because thats the most they can do with it. wats the point of perming hair? juss accept it the way it is. perms cause damage.

  • wud ya hair still come out nice if it hasnt been relaxed b4...cuz urs looks like it has?

  • @RealKid231 Well "nice" is subjective. But IMO yes.

  • I meant to say, how long do you leave in the relaxer after you're done applying it, or do you just wash it out immediately after you've finished applying it on the whole head?

  • I don't let the relaxer sit in my hair when I am done applying it.

I have detailed instructions on my website - ZanAndRob. com. It will probably clear up alot of questions you have.

  • Oh yeah and how long do you leave the relaxer in?!

  • Did you miss the really important step of putting that protective gel on your scalp or did I miss that step? I only saw you put it on your forehead. Either way thanks for the video, I need to do my own relaxers now because the salons around here want 70 dollars plus for a person with longer hair to relax it. Way too much.

  • I didn't forget that step. At the time of making this video, my hair was already oily.

  • which hairtype do u have?

  • I have type 4a hair. Very coily.

  • You are such a beautiful & sweet person!! Keep Up The Good Work!!! Great Video!

  • Thank you :) That is absolutely nice of you to say. I am also glad you like the video.

  • I really like your tutorial with texlaxing. I am thinking about trying that with using conditioner next time.

  • Thank you swensonbl. I appreciate your feedback.

You have nothing to lose from trying conditioner with your next relaxer. Give it try and let me know how it turns out, if/when you do.

  • Great tutorial!! Great job!!
