As much as I agree about the dungeon finder thing it bothers me that an Arms or Fury Warrior will get into a dungeon faster than a Hunter, Mage, or Rouge. For instance my Hunter takes about an hour to get a random dungeon yet my Arms Warrior takes about 5 minutes.
Im a Prot warrior tank i hate tanking its annoying if you mess up one pull people rage at you but i think that they should provide a tutorial dungeon so people could learn to tank
What do you mean tanking isn't fun? If anything, DPS is the least fun because you don't get to do anything but sit there and hit enemies. I mainly PvP now, but I used to tank, and always found it more fun that being a DPS (I'm a paladin, btw).

Tanking, threat building i find a boring mechanic as done in WoW, I think active mitigation abilities that allow tanks to instead of run like a wimpy DPS stand there and (block) taking heavy hits, on an ability that is based on resource (not a CD) that could mitigate >70% damage. More durable dps and better dps heals, from hybrids
@Jayremy89 in turn tanks when going all out can deal more damage and healers could dps better to balance this, and that a majority of tanking mitigation should not come from rather passive talents, gear and abilities, they should be active so that their is an actual skill curve to mitigation as their is mostly a skill curve to dps
people need to grow some balls and tank or heal. everyone i have talked to said they dont want to because it is to hard. too bad, just learn. "I can accept failure, everyone fails at some point. But I cannot except not trying." yes some people are naturally good, but myself being a druid tank/heals it took me a while to be where i am. I am still struggling today. if it was easy it would be boring. Just man up and try something harder please
My main is a mage, and DPS was faceroll all the way to raiding, when there acually was some type of demand on what I was doing. I hate to be dps. It sucks. Love healing much more.

Well, I'm currently a feral DPS druid, but I've done Balance, Resto and tanking jobs in the past. I enjoyed most of it, except for tanking (bit hectic, but maybe I'm just not used to it yet).
For me, the problem is that healing and tanking requires a lot of responsibility. Tanks and healers are the first to be blamed for a wipe, and pug drama isn't pretty. I just don't want to be a part of that.
i Play Prot paladin and i started tanking at 80 catalysm to 85 and was dps until then.
i find it kind ok to do but some dpsers doesnt understand how much it is expecting froma tank and so on + u gotta be the smartest of them all and tell them what to do etc but if everyone knows it and we still fail becus boss charged healer or somthing none of the dpsers fault even tho they did a miss -.- kinda harsh
I've tanked instances and raids in vanilla and nowdays I heal. I find that both are a lot more fun than dps. Mostly because I feel that I have more responsibility in the game than if I played a dps (even though they are important as well). My first char was a rogue so I have played a dps before a lot but from my personal experience it feels better to heal. And then again, healer and tanks are usually missing from groups so to help the community I rather heal or tank.
I have been a healer since i started i vanilla and the responsibility of carrying a 5man party or raid team from not dieing through the power of healing is just something i love.
I have recently rolled a Priest, and I think they have an undeserved bad reputation. I have found the class to be very fun to play, but healers and tanks are shunned if they have a little slip up, whereas dps can get away with doing less than average dps (usually, not in high-end raiding guilds and the like). I have found the general rudeness of the playerbase towards these roles quite irritating, but I guess this is unavoidable in a large community such as WoW, an MMORPG.
The call to arms is going to be a good addition in the game in my opinion. As the reward you get for queing as an unrepresented class (tank heals) are going to be BoA, they can be easily sent to your 'main' dps for those mount/pet achievement whores. It is going to encourage those with only dps class characters to widen their horizon of game play and dab a bit into the other classes. Those that do not wish to do so, will go without.
you got 54K gold? jesus, I don't play wow anymore, but when top level was 80, 54K gold was huge a lot or even unbeliable. When top was 70, my guildmaster didn't even have epic flying mount.
I've been playing WoW since Vanilla. Prot Paladin. It was impossible to do anything except heal as a pally in Vanilla, and it was quite fun. I started tanking in TBC, and I have honestly enjoyed it ever since. Tanking in 25mans has just been a pleasure for me to do ever since ^^ I just think that a good tank has a better reputation and higher aknowledgement from other players as opposed to being a good DPSer or healer. Especially when they remember you for a job well done
Having tried all 3 roles, I am more likely to dps and frankly play less well with randoms, because I care less about them. I tank for friends, I try harder, I play better that way. But sometimes you play half-arsed, tired or late night or whatever and for me thats the only value of pugs - half-arsed play with others who also dont care much. Its not how I would raid or play with guildies or friends. Frankly I could lose the chance of dungeon finder altogether and not weep.
i play a resto and a feral tank druid healing is awsome if u actually have something to do but that does not mean you can stand in shit to make healing fun my experience is heroics are not fun for any one but the best roll i have played is a tank for the fact its always changeing in fights
Is tanking enjoyable? I have been a tank since vanilla and I currently have a max level of each of the 4 tank classes. It's all I do. I hate DPSing, I find it boring. Healing is.... kinda stressful, to be honest. Tanking is damn fun. How's that for you?
I think the idea that gets into most people's heads is that they would be no good at tanking. That could be the case at first but tanking is really easy when you get into the rotations and know how to keep aggro and keep watch for adds that think your party members are more attractive to eat then you are. But what do I know I tank with a Paladin. :P
i play boomy and i have thought about tanking or healing alot but i like playing boomy its a unique class and its fun to play and i have healed befor and it wasnt exactly fun as a dps i always race other players trying to beat them trying my best to do everything right to win but as a healer most of the time your alone waiting for some idiot to stuff up and get agro or not dodge something and you have to heal them for a second insted of the tank
I tank and I enjoy it. I also believe I am a pretty good tank, I take responsibility for my actions and I try to lead the party. Tanking, however, can be extremely stressful, especially the first few times you do a dungeon, and even if you do it as DPS a few times first it is still not the same so you won't actually learn it that way. Added to this you get a lot of grief from other players who want to go faster slower or are just unhappy with how you do things - and that is why few people tank.
Making a pure DPS only queue would be exceptionally unfair on many of the players out there. Not everyone that plays a hybrid class plays that class to fulfill more than one role. I healed as a Priest though BC and Wrath both Holy and Discipline but found it to be undesirable in Cataclysm so I swapped to shadow. I have no intentions at the moment to swap back to Holy or Disc so why should I be punished for rolling a non-Pure DPS class?
I think tanking is fun, as long as you're in a guild. I have tried running pugs, and in 80% of the cases i get really annoyed of the people i meet. As mentioned, the tank is the head of the group, and if things aren't going as they should, the tank is often the one to blame. therefor I have completely quit running Pugs, and I only enter random heroics if I have a trustworthy healer with me.
Tanking and healing are both fun and entertaining. However the problems that make these roles frustrating and just down right painful is the ignerance of a large amount of dps. They just don't understand that if they pull aggro it's not always the tank's fault. Likewise if they die from standing in a void zone it's not the healer's fault. All I'm really saying is that the biggest problem is dps not understanding how hard our jobs are and that sometimes the wipe is there fault.
@lono17 It is just not dps, everyone in this game is guilty of being ignorant at some stage or another. If a pull goes wrong there are so many different strategies in the blame game; 1. Too many mobs = blame the tank. 2. tank died = blame the healer. 3. marked mobs are not dying fast enough = blame the dps.
People in this game really need to learn that mistakes happen, learn from them, not mistake happen /ragequitgroupblameeverybodybutyourself
I have two Druids and a DK, Both Druids are DPS/Healer, Honestly when I que for a dungeon I have to be a healer most of time, and I love it, and I don't expect much from the tank only for them to hold aggro and to listen if the healer is ready because sometimes the tank will just go and attack without the healer being ready and we wipe, my point is here is that tanking and healing r both enjoyable when you do it right.
My main is a prot pally and i love playing her most of the time. i think the reason there arent enuff tanks is becuz many of the ppl dont appreciate the fact that i had to earn my gear and iLvl by running a lot of randoms or raids with ppl that want u to "gogogo" or "skip the next guy please" while all im doing is watching my CDs and talents so i can use em and we wont wipe. . .
I tank with all my 3 Plate-85ers and i enjoy it a lot. The problem lies in the ppl who think you are the only one to blame when they die from pulling aggro. But on the other hand i am a bit of a perfectionist - so i try to get better as i play the game.
Many ppl don't like the responsibility and this causes the lack of tanks.
I hope this little text was readable - my english skills aren't as good as i would like.
I heal, and i find tgat it is much easier than most people think. Its basically just spam heals on the tank, and heal dps if they arent standing in something bad, if they are i let them die. Most people learn lessonsthat way
the game would be nicer if the dps actually did there job instead of slacking off and doing 7k in dungeons. Tanks and healers have to work there ass off so u lazy ass dps dont die. Its ridiculous. Im glad they made this call to arms
hello i have tryed every class in 80+ as any role and for some reason i feel like tanking and healing is acctualy more my thing, but the thing about tank i think is most funny is that u still doing some dps, when me and my friends are raiding or doing any dungeon we use to have so called "dps race" that i acctualy had some chanse of doing most dps of us all ( i played as a deral tank druid) that was in wotlk tho... that was the time when it was funny to tank, now in cata its not as funny as b4
I have been a dps thought TBC and half way though wrath and a tank since that point until today.
I really enjoy tanking since there's so much more challenge to be had as I have to position myself more carefully place bosses at certain spots swap tanks and so on and so forth.
I also feel much more appreciated since I find myself getting more compliments like "great tanking" then I used to get "sick dps" + I'm a lot more rare then dps and therefore more desirable in raids and guilds.
I'm a healer and find it more difficult than being a DPS, but that's what i find enjoyable. When i play dps, i'll still do fair damage with full healer gear, but i'm still about to fall asleep every other minute.
Very different from most games because you lost experience when you died. Not only that, but you could even level down. The tanks were the ones who would sacrifice themselves to save the party in case something went wrong.
After quitting, I never wanted to tank again.
Transitioning into WoW in 2004, I played a warrior and fit with the official manual description of a "damage dealing powerhouse".
The main thing I heard in groups was "where's your shield?"
My main is a fire mage so Im pure dps, however I tanked on my first death knight today for the first time. As a first experience, I was scared out of my wits, however I did manage to pull it off with minimal casualties XD I'm going to keep going with it and see how it goes, and work on the character. But I think I'm going to mostly stick to my mage XD Tanking almost scares me too much lol.
I don't mind tanking nor healing, I have a toon with tank ms and healing os. I guess that the primary reason is that it's always better to take matters into your own hands - wipefree. I mean, healers and tanks are keyroles. Sure you can have one bad dps, the bossfight takes either more time, or the other two dps compensate for the bad one. Healers and tanks, however, are solo, if one fails there's no one else to blame and you might wipe the entire group. People just don't like being flamed.
i love tanking. i really hate trying to dps. i play a pally tank. pre cata, ret pallies just had to smack the keyboard to do good dps. post cata, they gave it a bit of a rotation, but it's still pretty simple. i just enjoy the challenge of tanking
I've been both a tank and a healer (but quit before Cata) and I really enjoyed both. Healing was boring though in Wrath for obvious reasons. I tanked in BC and that was entertaining to me (due to the healers couldn't find me because my tank was a joke that went too far and ended up tanking 70 raids as a gnome)
i have a rest druid and a blood tank and i enjoyed both all the way through to lvl85 but apon hitting 85 i became undergeared quite quickly due to bad drops and people taking my gear at which point i was unable to do either and had to run as dps
im a tank, and also a dps. tanking is a lot harder, it requires more attention and focus than spamming your hotkeys. the one thing i hate most about tanking is holding the hand of the rest of the group. as tank, you're pretty much leader and responsible for everything that happens. When the healer or some dps don't want to cooperate it really pisses me off because its a waste of my time and patience.
I think tanking is so much fun. I use to love tanking but as a casual gamer I couldn't invest the hours it took to wipe, learn and then ultimately tank the latest dungeons. So I quit. If the dungeons were shorter i would love to come back and tank.
I'm actually a tank myself, I enjoyed it myself until I reached the high end of the dungeons due to the fact that at this point I would be hated and kicked should I lose aggro because the dps weren't attack the same mob as me. Because of this I re rolled and have now got an 85 balance Druid and fire Mage, this gives me much less hassle and wipes are generally not my fault unless with my op dps as a fire Mage I decide to pull :) however I would like to go back to my protection paladin, i think i
I r tank... (hint hint, see the name:) And I honestly cannot relate to those who don't like tanking. The absolute control and enormous skill maximum of tanking is delightful for me and I would have it no other way.
to continue that thought; i think that tanking is a hard thing to practice, which is why i was so reluctant to accept that role as such a versatile class. because i KNOW how obnoxious bad tanks could be, i wanted to be a good one; but because you can't really practice without going into a dungeon and getting baptised by fire (which you shouldn't stand in, etc), it's easy to get discouraged on your way to learn how to do the job well.
i've started to tank more, though, and quite like it.
i've always been a DPS type of player, but affter rolling my feral druid when Cata came out i've found myself in a few positions where i was kind of dragged into tanking in emergency pugs and the like. it's a role that is VERY satisfying when you do it correctly, but it relies so heavily on the idea that other people are going to cooperate and do what they're supposed to. i can't be held accountable if some hunter leaves their pet on aggressive and pulls everything in the room at once.
I love tankin and healing much more then i enjoy dps, however i do not enjoy alot of the dps you have to fight against in the pug groups. I would love to tank pugs if instead of players i got some npc dps to come along instead.
As for the ticket suggestion. What the Blue poster was saying is that instead of a tick box, just ask for no reponse. One requires a developer to program it and the other requires about 5 seconds more typing
Tanking is alot of fun, we can see that from the replies here.
I have a prot war I love tanking and I do pug alot.
That being said my main issue is either a dps running ahead and pulling a pack of 3-5 mobs and expecting me to pick it up with no rage or split dps on multiple mobs as soon as I pull.
No rage = no threat
And sometimes it's just hard to keep agro off ppl when split dps is going down with good dps.
Or idiots that don't get the whole " if I'm rooted/webed/frozen and I taunt off you
@LessaCaira I'm sorry you're having this issue :( It's entirely unreasonable that having to wait for 15 seconds so that you can have healing on the next pull is a real problem.
I have 2(3 tanks a feral in dps gear with tank spec)
Tanking and healing are rewarding roles to play, as you (should) have priority on your mp/5,parry and dodge loot and your que time is close to zero.
Also it's more of a challenge to keep everyone alive as a dead dps won't do any dps.
Exercise makes perfection, sure it can be hard to do your highest possible dps but will you die if you don't do enough dps the 20 first seconds of a fight?
As a healer/tank you get more rewards and responsibility
as a tank and a healer i can say for sure that healing and tankin' is rewarding... i simply dont understand why people doesnt want to tank/heal... it gives alot more responsability witch makes the game more enjoyable for me... it challenges you alot more than playing dps ( play mage/rouge as dps) and i just feel like him doing nothing compared to healing/tanking
@bargh1 rogue. and healing is easier than dps. got a resto druid main and it is sit back and make sure your party doesnt die. when it comes to dps it requires rotation, more stats to build, and practice practice practice. you misunderstand how challenging dps can be (maybe it just melee that is harder than casting idk)
Im a warrior tank and I feel that tanking is already rewarding enough, even more so when call to arms comes out. You get a lot of power as a tank, if you want to be a dick, you mainly can. If you dont want to do one of the bosses then you dont have to, also if your a nice one then they will usually tell you so, even when its pugged. Most groups won't kick me even if i was bad, (ie about half a year ago when i started tanking), most dps/healers dont want to have to wait for another tank.
@Xtdg89x I was actually talking more broadly about tanks in general, as I said at the end I used to be bad, which doesn't even mean an annoying tank. I was just trying to say that the tank that wrote the letter shouldn't think that they aren't appreciated. I guess from your comment that isn't true with some people.
I am a paladin and as a paladin i have tried all 3 rolls (i also played ranged DPS on other toons) and i love tanking and healing is my 2nd favorite (not saying i hate DPSing) i think its fun to tank i cant see how other people dont. i know the pressure can get heavy but at the end of the day i feel i got my group though those bosses and as a DPS i just feel like i'm 1 in 6 (depending on the raid) and havent done a whole lot to pull us though.questing is so much funner when you pull everything
Hi tb, wanted to give my thoughts on tanking. I've been playing a Pala tank for a long while now and enjoy it very much. Especially in wotlk when i outdps other dpser with a dps weapon ^^. anyway, the resent news about them applying a cd on Word of Glory will reduce my rotation to HoR, HoR, HoR, avenger's shield i guess? and more HoR. in that case it will be more boring after a while
@Totte88 Blizzard still wants you to spend your holy power, just that now it should be used more often on threat related spells, similar to the bulk of your rotation; spells like Shield of the Righteous and Inquisition.
@IRdatank yea i know. But i don't need shield of righteous to keep aggro, that's the "issue". Prefer using it to help the healer having a easier time in life. I do understand the nerf. I sometimes get 40k crit heals x 2 with the holy power refresh talent, which is insane. But yea.. i i'll be using it everytime it's up instead.
My main is a Fury Warrior. My offspec is Protection. I too find a problem with hybrid classes that refuse to have as at least their offspec a tanking or a healing option. It's mainly people who have a PvE dps spec as well as a PvP dps spec. I find these people to be absolutely useless. However to punish these toolbags and put them under "pure" dps classes in priority I find is an even higher problem. It's not their fault they are toolbags, it's their parents' fault.
@Paranitis And to continue on with my line of thought...
While my main character is a Fury Warrior, it is not the only class that I play. I have a Paladin (Prot), Druid (Moonkin/Bear), Priest (Holy/Shadow), Hunter (BM with Crab..did want it to tank), DK (Blood/Unholy), Rogue (Combat), Mage (Arcane), Warlock (Destro), and Shaman (Enhancement/Resto). I am perfectly comfortable healing or tanking, and in fact enjoy both roles.
What is that targetting mod called TB is using during daily grind. With the health plate above the target changed and the boxed target info's at the bottom. Someone know?
Eve > Wow, main reason is that with time u realise that wow is pretty much narrow , with no other way to play either in pvp/pve . 7 years wow even less made my opinion for it dull , as for Eve online... your decisions , your actions ,your gamestyle , your ambitions directly follow u around the incredible sandbox CCPgaming have created
Wow is 2 limited for the taste of a season mmo-gamer
I have no Experience as a Tank, But I presently Raid as a Paladin healer. I feel that I do alright in raids, I do my job, and When I DO puG, I often get complemented from The tanks, and even the DPS. I Enjoy Healing, and Feel that Holy paladins are in an Excellent position, but prehaps that Is because I Have only Started Searously raiding Here in Cata.
on my druid i tank as main spec, and heal as off spec, and i love doing both in dungeons and raids. there is nothing more fun for me then to have that huge dragon beating on my face while my pals back me up !
I can see that I'm not the only one to love healing here. I find it so much more rewarding to heal up a group rather than down a boss as dps. I also have a mage to dps with however I find it a much more tedious role than healing. This dps role is worsened by the fact that I sometimes have to wait 40 minutes for a dungeon meaning that when I want to play one I would much sooner log in on my priest. Perhaps its the pressure that put people off healing or tanking but I think everyone should try it!
I absolutely love healing, have been doing it for 4-5 years! I love the idea of supporting my "troops" so that in return we succeed. And btw a little heads up on the pulse addon, i'd strongly suggest you stay away from it and use "PowerAurasClassic" a way better addon, does all the previously mentioned features plus the ones that halibut wants, such as sounds.
i've been tank since i started my death knight right from the launch of wotlk and i haven't thought about changing to dps at all though i got a dps specc for then the guild requires me to dps but i still love tanking for than any role.
Love healing. It gives you some sense of responsibility and satisfaction. DPS is fine too but in the end it just gets boring, as a dps I barely have to pay attention :P.. Hate the idea of the new random dungeon finder. Which will only resolve into even more people that cant heal / tank choose to do it because of the reward / fast queue times. Prepare for even LONGER random runs -_-
a long time ago, you showed us Baggins. I really liked it and tried to download it, but ive never put mod's on my account before, and its really complicated! :I
In all honesty, tanking and healing are only enjoyable to me before endgame. Though the problems I come across in PUGs are a) usually the same b) unnaturally common and c) extremely annoying, and so once I get a character to level 85, I tend to abandon it and start leveling another alt, because the endgame has stopped being fun for me. I understand that others enjoy it, but it just feels stale and boring to me.

EarthlivingRep555 10 months ago
Is tanking enjoyable? I have been a tank since vanilla and I currently have a max level of each of the 4 tank classes. It's all I do. I hate DPSing, I find it boring. Healing is.... kinda stressful, to be honest. Tanking is damn fun. How's that for you?

sultanalshebli12 10 months ago

I'm a Tauren Resto Druid. I'd love to engage in this conversation. :)
Leono413 10 months ago
I tank and I enjoy it. I also believe I am a pretty good tank, I take responsibility for my actions and I try to lead the party. Tanking, however, can be extremely stressful, especially the first few times you do a dungeon, and even if you do it as DPS a few times first it is still not the same so you won't actually learn it that way. Added to this you get a lot of grief from other players who want to go faster slower or are just unhappy with how you do things - and that is why few people tank.
johanullen 10 months ago
Making a pure DPS only queue would be exceptionally unfair on many of the players out there. Not everyone that plays a hybrid class plays that class to fulfill more than one role. I healed as a Priest though BC and Wrath both Holy and Discipline but found it to be undesirable in Cataclysm so I swapped to shadow. I have no intentions at the moment to swap back to Holy or Disc so why should I be punished for rolling a non-Pure DPS class?

MrATFRaptor01 10 months ago
I think tanking is fun, as long as you're in a guild. I have tried running pugs, and in 80% of the cases i get really annoyed of the people i meet. As mentioned, the tank is the head of the group, and if things aren't going as they should, the tank is often the one to blame. therefor I have completely quit running Pugs, and I only enter random heroics if I have a trustworthy healer with me.
puttolaz 10 months ago
Tanking and healing are both fun and entertaining. However the problems that make these roles frustrating and just down right painful is the ignerance of a large amount of dps. They just don't understand that if they pull aggro it's not always the tank's fault. Likewise if they die from standing in a void zone it's not the healer's fault. All I'm really saying is that the biggest problem is dps not understanding how hard our jobs are and that sometimes the wipe is there fault.
lono17 10 months ago
@lono17 It is just not dps, everyone in this game is guilty of being ignorant at some stage or another. If a pull goes wrong there are so many different strategies in the blame game; 1. Too many mobs = blame the tank. 2. tank died = blame the healer. 3. marked mobs are not dying fast enough = blame the dps.
People in this game really need to learn that mistakes happen, learn from them, not mistake happen /ragequitgroupblameeverybodybutyourself
dreamhunter695 10 months ago
I have two Druids and a DK, Both Druids are DPS/Healer, Honestly when I que for a dungeon I have to be a healer most of time, and I love it, and I don't expect much from the tank only for them to hold aggro and to listen if the healer is ready because sometimes the tank will just go and attack without the healer being ready and we wipe, my point is here is that tanking and healing r both enjoyable when you do it right.

allviper 10 months ago
I tank with all my 3 Plate-85ers and i enjoy it a lot. The problem lies in the ppl who think you are the only one to blame when they die from pulling aggro. But on the other hand i am a bit of a perfectionist - so i try to get better as i play the game.
Many ppl don't like the responsibility and this causes the lack of tanks.
I hope this little text was readable - my english skills aren't as good as i would like.

I tanked for 2 years in FFXI.
/sigh

As a first experience, I was scared out of my wits, however I did manage to pull it off with minimal casualties XD I'm going to keep going with it and see how it goes, and work on the character. But I think I'm going to mostly stick to my mage XD Tanking almost scares me too much lol.
NaldethaDawn 10 months ago
I don't mind tanking nor healing, I have a toon with tank ms and healing os. I guess that the primary reason is that it's always better to take matters into your own hands - wipefree. I mean, healers and tanks are keyroles. Sure you can have one bad dps, the bossfight takes either more time, or the other two dps compensate for the bad one. Healers and tanks, however, are solo, if one fails there's no one else to blame and you might wipe the entire group. People just don't like being flamed.

I've been both a tank and a healer (but quit before Cata) and I really enjoyed both. Healing was boring though in Wrath for obvious reasons. im a tank, and also a dps. tanking is a lot harder, it requires more attention and focus than spamming your hotkeys. the one thing i hate most about tanking is holding the hand of the rest of the group. as tank, you're pretty much leader and responsible for everything that happens. When the healer or some dps don't want to cooperate it really pisses me off because its a waste of my time and patience.

IRdatank 10 months ago
to continue that thought; i think that tanking is a hard thing to practice, which is why i was so reluctant to accept that role as such a versatile class. because i KNOW how obnoxious bad tanks could be, i wanted to be a good one; but because you can't really practice without going into a dungeon and getting baptised by fire (which you shouldn't stand in, etc), it's easy to get discouraged on your way to learn how to do the job well.
i've started to tank more, though, and quite like it.
StaticPokemon 10 months ago
i've always been a DPS type of player, but affter rolling my feral druid when Cata came out i've found myself in a few positions where i was kind of dragged into tanking in emergency pugs and the like. it's a role that is VERY satisfying when you do it correctly, but it relies so heavily on the idea that other people are going to cooperate and do what they're supposed to. i can't be held accountable if some hunter leaves their pet on aggressive and pulls everything in the room at once.

Hrothgal 10 months ago
as a tank and a healer i can say for sure that healing and tankin' is rewarding... i simply dont understand why people doesnt want to tank/heal... it gives alot more responsability witch makes the game more enjoyable for me... it challenges you alot more than playing dps ( play mage/rouge as dps) and i just feel like him doing nothing compared to healing/tanking
bargh1 10 months ago
@bargh1 rogue. and healing is easier than dps. got a resto druid main and it is sit back and make sure your party doesnt die. when it comes to dps it requires rotation, more stats to build, and practice practice practice. you misunderstand how challenging dps can be (maybe it just melee that is harder than casting idk)
Xtdg89x 10 months ago
Im a warrior tank and I feel that tanking is already rewarding enough, even more so when call to arms comes out. You get a lot of power as a tank, if you want to be a dick, you mainly can. If you dont want to do one of the bosses then you dont have to, also if your a nice one then they will usually tell you so, even when its pugged. Most groups won't kick me even if i was bad, (ie about half a year ago when i started tanking), most dps/healers dont want to have to wait for another tank.
nunny0206 10 months ago
@nunny0206 funny. we usually kick tanks like you. tanks are no more important than heals or dps. now grow up and show respect
Xtdg89x 10 months ago
@Xtdg89x I was actually talking more broadly about tanks in general, as I said at the end I used to be bad, which doesn't even mean an annoying tank. I was just trying to say that the tank that wrote the letter shouldn't think that they aren't appreciated. I guess from your comment that isn't true with some people.
nunny0206 10 months ago
I am a paladin and as a paladin i have tried all 3 rolls (i also played ranged DPS on other toons) and i love tanking and healing is my 2nd favorite (not saying i hate DPSing) i think its fun to tank i cant see how other people dont. i know the pressure can get heavy but at the end of the day i feel i got my group though those bosses and as a DPS i just feel like i'm 1 in 6 (depending on the raid) and havent done a whole lot to pull us though.questing is so much funner when you pull everything
tavisaim0 10 months ago
Hi tb, wanted to give my thoughts on tanking. I've been playing a Pala tank for a long while now and enjoy it very much. Especially in wotlk when i outdps other dpser with a dps weapon ^^. anyway, the resent news about them applying a cd on Word of Glory will reduce my rotation to HoR, HoR, HoR, avenger's shield i guess? and more HoR. in that case it will be more boring after a while
Totte88 10 months ago
@Totte88 Blizzard still wants you to spend your holy power, just that now it should be used more often on threat related spells, similar to the bulk of your rotation; spells like Shield of the Righteous and Inquisition.
IRdatank 10 months ago
@IRdatank yea i know. But i don't need shield of righteous to keep aggro, that's the "issue". Prefer using it to help the healer having a easier time in life. I do understand the nerf. I sometimes get 40k crit heals x 2 with the holy power refresh talent, which is insane. But yea.. i i'll be using it everytime it's up instead.
Totte88 10 months ago
My main is a Fury Warrior. My offspec is Protection. I too find a problem with hybrid classes that refuse to have as at least their offspec a tanking or a healing option. It's mainly people who have a PvE dps spec as well as a PvP dps spec. I find these people to be absolutely useless. However to punish these toolbags and put them under "pure" dps classes in priority I find is an even higher problem. It's not their fault they are toolbags, it's their parents' fault.
Paranitis 10 months ago
@Paranitis And to continue on with my line of thought...
While my main character is a Fury Warrior, it is not the only class that I play. I have a Paladin (Prot), Druid (Moonkin/Bear), Priest (Holy/Shadow), Hunter (BM with Crab..did want it to tank), DK (Blood/Unholy), Rogue (Combat), Mage (Arcane), Warlock (Destro), and Shaman (Enhancement/Resto). I am perfectly comfortable healing or tanking, and in fact enjoy both roles.
I HATE hybrids that don't want to be hybrids.

People dont like healing because alot have never done it b4 and think its hard...
