Saying not to use a metronome is the stupidest advice any person can give anyone. It doesn't matter how fast you can play, if you cannot do it in time(which he can't) it's gonna sound bad(which it does)
@Tehdrumr4life14 he's playing 16ths basically perfectly, there is such thing as human error, but with tim, it's barely visible, I can play 16ths at about 210 for about 15-20 seconds before I tire out, he has basically mastered it.
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls well i'm very glad that i can play 16th notes in 200 bpm for 6 and a halv min =) i used a timer. but my point is, to get to tim's speed you have to master 250 to 260 bpm for.. a long timeXD just look at how long the songs are. so he's an amazing drummer!
it's not a second... seven seconds we streeeeach, just as long as it takeeees... I'll be drummmmming..... lol.... kiddin'... Tim's a badass-est drummer of all times!!!
@Cinemalogue you've clearly missed what music is to people, and methods to muscisians and maybe most disturbingly, what qualities a human beeing need today, which is respect. Here, you are clearly not the so called "bigger man". TheMisodoctakleidist has figured it out for you, Now learn from him
"it's really hard to be this consistent for three minutes with a metronome."
Not if you know how to play. But, for what it's worth, hammering out one strokes for minutes on end at your best speed is hardly what one can call "drumming."
@TheMisodoctakleidist Good drummers don't care about peeing contests. You may call this drumming. It's not good drumming. Good drumming is FIRST about keeping solid time. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be futzing with anything more complicated... This kid needs to learn to walk first before he tries to run.
Second, drumming is about dynamics, nuance, versatility. Watching someone strike a drum rapidly, making it look more complicated than it is, isn't interesting at all.
Good drumming is where the drummer plays what the song requires. For many death metal songs, they don't require anything more or less than playing a blast beat (which came from jazz anyway). There is no superior style of drumming. There is no superior genre of music. Music is freedom, people can play whatever they want to play, from subtle brush work to balls to the walls blasting.
And I appreciate musicians who can keep an open mind about every style of music.
@TheMisodoctakleidist Search Joe Morello or Buddy Rich on Youtube and watch their clips a while, and then come back and try and tell me this is drumming. I don't find anything useful in this video—instructionally or just for entertainment. I'm not being a snob, it's just that I've seen what good drummers can do... and the more you see of that, the less impressive this feeble showoff will seem to you.
Instruction-wise, he doesn't even explain Moeller method...and that's troubling.
Mate, I do study those drummers. This is just a different style of drumming. You wouldn't bust out some improv jazz in a death metal song, wouldja? :P
20 seconds of any technical practice is enough for me.. Drumming should be fun.

It is drumming, man. Hitting a drum and creating a rhythm is drumming. And he could probably groove harder than you if he wanted to.
