@Finarphin Thank-you! Well it's techinically based on Vaughan Williams's arrangement of Kingsfold (Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus) which is basically the same melody as that song, so yeah! :D
Actually, this is not the original tune that W. W. Phelps wrote the words to. You will find that tune in the earlier hymnals of the Church. This melody is by Ralph (pronounced Rafe - I don't know why; it's British) Vaughn-Williams.
@ihatethishackercrap Yes I am aware of the tune in the original hymn book. I'm also aware of how to pronounce Ralph Vaugh-Williams's name. The melody in the new hymnal is a traditonal melody arranged by Vaughn-Williams.
I stumbled across this looking for other versions of Seven Rejoices (my mind was completely blown to hear Loreena singing the melody of my very favorite hymn). Not a bad way to end a night. That last minute is just stellar. Much approval and many gold stars for you, talented and skilled Brother-stranger. :)
@TheJoshmire - The only reason I can think of why it would be is because the tune comes from a traditional carol "Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus." I must say though that W.W. Phelps did the tune justice in making "If you could hie to Kolob."
Sounds great. Is that "Star of the County Down" lurking within this piece?
