I like George Carlin's bit on abortion. The only reason there's such a thing as "sanctity of life" is because we're alive! Self-interest. I think more measures must be taken to prevent abortion while the practice must remain legal. The reason why conservatives attacking Planned Parenthood and wanting abstinence-only education is so bad is because it will ultimately cause more abortions. Hello, my name is Captain Obvious. Still, liberals treat the issue far too simplistically.
@snakebitgoat It is a scientific fact that life begins at conception. I just don't consider it to be a person until at least 8 weeks. I just find it ironic that we worry so much about an unborn fetus, while at the same time killing every other animal we get our hands on. Until our society changes, I see nothing wrong with abortion. I absolutely love how you continuously insult me, yet I'm the Ape? The definition of murder is a person killing another person, so how did I put words in your mouth?
You are basing your argument solely on human emotion. You just had your first pregnancy scare and you allowed the emotion of fear to overthrow your capacity to use right reason. If you believe that the dignity and value of a human life can be evaluated by other humans, what's to stop me from saying that I think you should die right now because you are a pathetic, uneducated, hipster piece of shit? You should seriously think of all the implications that dismissing human equality has on society.
@jmir1992 You can think what you want. I don't think all human life is valuable. I can't stop thinking that way because I fear others thinking I'm worthless. I might just be worthless, I'd like to think I'm not but that doesn't meant I'm not.
@Brittanysofficial This isn't about you, It's about all the serious implications your philosophy has on society. According you, the holocaust, slavery, discrimination, etc could all be justified because the value of human life is something that can be assessed by anyone apparently. Maybe not all human life is equal in value and dignity, but I think we should live as it is. Respect for one another is what allows us to prosper and hopefully find some peace and happiness in this confusing world.
@jmir1992 Justified in SOME instances. Or at least, workable. Relax honey, the world is already shit, I'm just talking about, I'm not the one bombing countries or raping children.
@Brittanysofficial You may only support killing fetuses, but others may be ok with slavery, bombing civilians, child abuse etc. Who decides when human equality is debatable or, as you put it, ‘workable?’ You, me, anyone? Can’t you see that your view is more than just an opinion on youtube; it’s a poisonous and selfish philosophy which threatens all of humanity. I agree that the world is already shit, but you're moral relativism only makes things worse. And, sadly, I don’t think you see that...
I am a man, I don't like abortion, I have identified myself with the Christian faith, and am more closely associated with conservatism rather than liberalism, though I would continue to categorize myself as an individual. I may not agree with you, but I love the way you spoke. You didn't speak propaganda like I hear from both sides and even in my own "faith," and you made great points combined with common sense. I would give you a standing ovation, if you'd see it. In fact, I just did.
I believe that the main thing that makes us different from lions and tigers and bears is our ability to make better judgement and the fact that we have morals. Obviously, the morals are different for each person, but we do not even begin to understand what is right and wrong until we are out of the womb. That is a human life. Development of human life is different. Development could even begin at ejaculation into a sock.
1. If you have unprotected sex today and 2 weeks later find out you're pregnant - take a pill and the embryo will leave your body.
2. If you are 4+ months pregnant, it is unethical, immoral, heartless to kill the baby, a baby that already a heart that beats, a brain, his arms and legs, etc.
-I am pro and against abortion - it all goes on a case-by-case basis.
I'm 23 and a parasite as I am on disability and have no means of support and live with my parents. ABORT ME!!
Sorry but abortion is tantamount to killing someone. If the sex was consensual you gotta man up and be responsible, use protection or get sterilized, seriously.
@Brittanysofficial Um I just stated if it wasn't consensual she may abort it. As for all cases don't pigeonhole me please, I can go on and on about the so called double standard you're trying to pull out of me. Unless you're pro-killing people in all cases you have no leg to stand on.
@snakebitgoat I'm the dumb one? I said you could compare a 2nd trimester fetus to a pig, not that it was a pig. And I didn't even say a pig Fetus, I said a full grown pig. A pig has more of a right to live because it is actually conscience and has interacted with the world around it, yet we slaughter them by the thousands. Learn how to fucking read, stop putting words into peoples mouth that they never said.
@ComputerGamerify you said fetuses aren't humans so basically yes you did say that they are the same. Quit backtracking and take a stand, then I will have at least a modicum of respect for you
@snakebitgoat I'm calling them the same a metaphorical sense, not in a literal one. Killing anything is wrong. But you called it murder, I guess it would be murder if you considered killing a full grown pig murder. All in all, you should avoid getting pregnant if you don't want a child, but if you do, your human rights trump a fetuses rights. If you call a fetus a human, then why not call sperm or an egg a human. You could argue that every time I masturbate I murder someone.
@ComputerGamerify Now who's putting words in my mouth. And also, an egg ad a sperm isnt human its part of a cell when the two GET TOGETHER its a human. Now fuck off and go back to biology you god damned ape. As for rights they're nonexistant.
Abortion not murder. If a women dosn't wish to have a child then they can abort. If the child can't live without medical support it's not fully alive.
@vance282 Not fully alive. This is a statement that makes zero sense. Alive is a statement about an organism that means not yet dead. All life is dying at different rates. To instantly accelerate that process to conclusion is killing and depending on circumstance murder.Need of medical support also has nothing to do with weather or not someone is alive. If that were the case, all patients on bypass machines during heart surgery would be dead bodies until the corpse could be reanimated.
I think he means if it can't survive without being in the womb then it isn't alive yet.
I agree, since an unborn animal has no brain function, nerve feelings, etc. It cannot think, or feel pain/pleasure, understand anything. It's not alive.
@GortonMichael Fetuses have their first brain activity between 11 and 12 weeks. What they can experience is not entirely relevant to whether or not it is an individual life. When life is human we extend it protective rights except when it has failed to pass the magical citizen granting passage we call a vagina. That double standard is what I take issue with. A fetus is not it's mothers body it is a citizen who lacks conciseness, much like a coma patient.
You could say the same thing about people with injuries or medical conditions that require life support, guess we should just throw them all in a gas chamber since they aren't "fully" alive (as opposed to "partially" alive). You'd make a great Nazi.
I like that people in your comments think you are not smart, yet you never repeat yourself, you don't stammer, you don't use fill-ins, like "um" or "like" often. There indeed is not space in between your sentences, but that's just you. There's nothing wrong with it; people just find something they do not like and apply unilaterally to all people, when in reality it's about each individual (not to put individuality before community, for both are equally important).
Kill the fucking parasite. 7,000,000,000 humans. And trust me... This moron has lived a cushy, altar child life. She has NO idea what it is like to be in the gutter and she has NO right to critique suicide in ANY way. Live your life blindly ignorant as all other stupid cunts do. Bye.
@Brittanysofficial Hey, are you a vegan? If you are and you're EDUCATED on the topic of factory farms and if you see the life of an animal equal to a human, you'll be like me when I say, "Fucking kill the heartless bastard." Humans are disgusting. They get hungry from watching an animal that feels pain the same as them suffer. I could kill any number of children before I kill a dog, crocodile... Fuck, even a spider. My opinion. I expect you to see the life of a human superior... Hipster.
now have a different view. The same was true for ww2 veterans, vietnam veterans, korean veterans etc etc. It is, however, quite sad that war was necessary for them to finally gain respect and even empathy for combatants one the opposing side.
Brittany, it's good people like you that make life valuable. We just question the idea of metaphysical value. If we need God to have value, that that is just sad. We don't need God to encourage people to value others, we need a revolution in culture. We cannot progress on the evolutionary ladder without caring for one another to some degree, it's the universal level that's the challenge. I guarantee you that most of our returning veterans who may have been thinking that muslims are savages cont.
I am an atheist, a libertarian, and pro-choice. But the hypocrisy of those who share my abortion views is astounding. The same individuals who believe that abortion is morally okay also believe that I shouldn't be able to use a firearm to defend my life.
I'm sorry, but how is it that it seems like you share many of my opinions? I'm really glad to see someone so blunt yet honest about things, pretty much like I am. Subscribed and well, thumbs up.
That's not true. Many women and men have LOTS of trouble having children lol. So they go through a lot of complications and struggles to have them. Many of those women who have trouble getting pregnant have to go through a number of miscarriages to finally have that child.
Not entirely true. I know you said "most", but I want to talk about how a child can rape/molest another child and know it is wrong. That is an example. A child can murder their brother and they know it's wrong.
Now BOTH, mind you, get away with it because they are children, which is wrong. Personally, I think children, no matter the age, who DARE to do adult things like sex, rape, murder, etc, on PURPOSE should be punished as an adult.
promise. Men are afraid of the family court system. But I digress. This subject can be controversial, but it doesn't have to be. If one is terrified by having a child thrown into their life, then one should abstain from sex. I'm a student, I'm not sexually active right now. Not because I don't want it, or can't get it, it's just that I don't want lnsertclevername Jr. to screw everything up due to a surge of hormones on one night. Priorities first. Women/men second.
Paused at 3:40. I feel like there are too many double standards though. Often times, when abortion is used, you hear "It's up to the woman. It's her body. She gets to decide." However, if the man decides he doesn't want to be a father, he is still financially responsible for the baby. The woman can legally kidnap his kids from him and only allow him to see them once a month, even though he has to pay for them full time. I often hear women say that men are afraid of commitment. We aren't, I
You are just a stupid ass retard if you think that it is ok to kill a baby.If you like abortion so much why dont you give yourself a retro active one ASAP!
@MrNapalm138 No one's advocating the killing of a baby. They are talking about choosing not to create a baby. If you can't see the difference, woe to you.
@cukka99 "Listen to what Im saying,Im ok with a woman terminating the life of an un born baby" Dont play stupid fucking word games that is exactly what is happening here!
@MrNapalm138 Only one side in the abortion debate uses deliberately misleading terminology: the forced reproduction advocates. Their very name "pro-life" is a lie." Calling a fetus a baby and then acting all pissy because people are "killing" "babies" is a lie. "Partial birth" is a lie designed solely to garner political power. Calling pro-choice people "pro-abportion" or "pro-abort" is a disgusting lie. It is essential that we refuse to use their disgusting, misleading, terms.
@cukka99 Life starts when it is living and it is a human life the second its cells stert to form all of you sick ass people should go kill yourselves instead of your babies.
@cukka99 And I find it funny that this is always the view of Atheist. You dont have to believe in God to have morals but I allways find that people that run around claiming they are Atheist usually are just trying to justify a lack of morals.
@cukka99 And I find it funny that this is always the view of Atheist. You dont have to believe in God to have morals but I allways find that people that run around claiming they are Atheist usually are just trying to justify a lack of morals.
please dont think im a pest. in the following comments I describe how the issue of abortion becomes about the individual criticizing the abortion and why some people may be more lenient to forgive in certain circumstances such as rape. sorry for the long essay i hope you enjoy :) - B.A psychology
people only care about themselves and political correctness. They look at you as if you where a statue and impart the characteristics to you that they KNOW are correct or want you to be. They see that you are fat and deem you lazy, poor so they deem you stupid, short then they deem you inferior. They dont care about your circumstances, your background, your family, your beliefs or even about your indivual person. They only care that your not like them, and that you should be, because....
if you where like them, if you were the same person then they can fully understand you because they fully understand themselves. In trying to understand you they, in a sense impersonalize you. when you get an abortion they see it as murder, and they feel as though they themselves are commiting murder aswell. this is a process called sympathy, looking at a person experiencing pain and then experiencing the pain yourself. it becomes cognitivly dissonant, becuase they have committed murder and
they dont want to be labled as murderers. So they fight against you in an effort to protect themselves. In the abortion case sympathy becomes skewed because in an effort in trying to understand you without actually knowing you, they have forgotten that you are an individual. How could they possibly know what it is like to be you? how do they know how you feel in your own skin? The constant normal thoughts that pop into your head? What a baby means to you? They are expecting you to have the
same values thoughts and beliefs as them. they cant leave you alone because in thier eyes, you have become them. the issue is no longer about you having an abortion, or about the abortion itself. The issue becomes about the person criticiziing the abortion. this is the internalizing psychological process that occurs in these individuals, where the person having the abortion is no longer viewed as a victim of their own guilt, that person doesnt even exist. The only victim is the abortion critic.
NOw im not saying people should feel bad about themselves. Feeling bad is something that should be dwelled on, but analyzed. It helps you to see your strengths and weaknesses. You're going to make decisions you're strong enough to make and others not. Its better to know these things prior to doing them (as to minimize moral casualties).
You also lose it in the end when you say you arent sure if people deserve dignity, but in the beginning you say ppl deserve respect from their actions.
All opinons. You need to stop and try to understand what other peoples views are before you feel things like "want to vomit on them". People value life differently at different stages, and for different reasons. You dont think they deserve respect in some cases? Ok. Thats meaningless to everyone but you and the people who agree. It changes nothing. Life is as valuable (not as you make it - a myth) as your life can be. This depends on the environment you live in, your genetics, etc.
You were right to say that people have the responsibility for their own action and that there is no excuse to become pregnant when there are so many things you could have done to stop it from happening.
Personally I believe that in the first few weeks after conception abortion is O.K. but after some period of time (I don't know how long) there is something terribly wrong to have an abortion and as the fetus developed it becomes even worse.
@bornbillsmith Well, it's not a womans responsibility being pregnant if she was raped. Then I think abortion is acceptable, but when it comes to other cases, people have the right to change their minds but I'm against having an abortion because someone was too lazy to use a condom
@lasseplatburk i believe that a life does not begin at conception.
I believe that life probably starts somewhere around 10 weeks.
I believe abortion before that isn't taking a life and doesn't need to be justified.
i believe that after that period a life is being taken and therefore an abortion has to be justified. I agree that a female who was raped should have that choice but only during those 10 weeks.
Pro-lifers don't take into consideration the implications that these overarching decisions have on the rest of the world and the future of the rest of the world. It seems that right-wingers are only concerned with piggybacking on policies that make them feel good about themselves, on the individual level, in this immediate point and time. It was this same small-minded thinking that put prohibition into law. And that worked out Real well didn't it. Btw, how's that war on drugs going?
Our orphanages are already overpopulated. Why force women to give birth to more unwanted children? My point is: you right-wing zealots are looking at the situation with a pinhole view. There are many factors to be considered and there really is no easy answer. You can't just say that abortion is wrong because murder is wrong. It seems like pro-lifers only say things or hold onto beliefs to satisfy their own immediate ego in the now.
Yes, abortion is murder. So is overpopulation, which will inevitably lead to mass starvation, eugenic sterilization or genocide, or violent genocide. You say it's not the baby's fault that the mother doesn't want him? It's also not the baby's fault for being born to unfit parents, or ending up in an abusive foster home or on the street, only to grow confused and angry to become yet another possibly sociopathic plight on our society.
@Brittanysofficial It depends on the charges presented... legal abortion its the right of a woman to decide over her own body... the murder of a pregnant women its privating the woman to decide over her own life, and over the course of her pregnancy... sorry the crapy english!
@Brittanysofficial Legality. First, let me say that I don't believe in single party crimes. Meaning, anything you wish to do either to or by yourself should be legal. The problem with abortion as you point out in your video is simple. There are other people involved in this activity. The unborn child should, if we lived in a just or honest society, be protected from murderous mothers and doctors.
@Brittanysofficial Choice. I am Pro Choice in the only sense that could be moral. As two single entities about to engage in consensual sex both have plenty of choices with regard to preventing unwanted consequence. These choices range from abstaining to the morning after pill and every one of these choices can be found for free in clinics in almost every region in the country. In the places lacking clinics contraception is still pretty cheap.
@Brittanysofficial Consequence. People who advocate abortion seem to forget that life is a series of circumstances resulting from previous choices. If I use a band-saw in a careless way I may have to live with the consequence of using the tool inappropriately, which would mostly mean learning to brush my teeth with my left hand. Women ,similarly, must accept upfront that by having sex they might forfeit part of their body as well. Men, in turn, must forfeit their paycheck.
@Brittanysofficial Value. It is true that all life is not equally valuable. It is this distinction that allows me to say that killing defenseless fetuses is immoral and killing terrorist at war is absolutely moral. Should the value of the fetus outweigh the value of the mother. Probably not but medical necessity is but a tiny fraction of the abortion statistic. I can also see possible arguments for mercy killing fetuses that will live only a short life of pain based on value.
@Brittanysofficial Overall I like the video and this channel, I just wish you would spend some time contemplating the disgust and why you would wish for something to remain legal if it offends your mind to the point of nausea. You know why murder is wrong but not all killing is murder. Anyway, thanks for the vids. I must go subscribe now.
@areYouSerious41 You get slapped with a double murder because some right-wing weirdo politicians pushed a weirdo law in the hopes that it would later lead to more weirdo laws outlawing abortion. No other reason.
Murder is killing a person. A blastocyst is not a person. Abortion is a decision to not create a person. As such, it is not fundamentally different, for example, from deciding not to have sex.
@areYouSerious41 Thank you, that is very kind of you. I'm afraid I don't always (or even usually) find myself as understanding of other people's views in this matter.
You do realize a HUGE portion of potential children are naturally aborted by your own body after they have already been conceived? Does that make billions of women murderers in some way? No, of course not. It wasn't intentional. There's no moral problems with this.
Then why would there be any moral problems doing this intentionally? You can't use any argument comparing this too already born humans either. People shed tears for than 14 year old kid who dies, but not 14 day old pile of cells.
My girlfriend and I have had the 30 second scare and gone through the lightning fast consideration of all possible choices with the circumstances we've been given. I have to say I believe that it's a woman's body and it's a woman's choice when it comes having an abortion. However, from a man's perspective, what if I wanted to keep the child and raise it from my own effort and income, and my girlfriend didn't want the child out of fear of childbirth and she didn't want to keep it? That scares me.
YouTube gives such a small space in which to type comments.
Anyway, who cares about an unwanted fetus? Children are the ones who are really suffering, and we should focus on THEM, not a potential human being who isn't even aware of its own existence. Children can think and feel -- they laugh, live and cry. I am very responsible with my sexuality, but if I find myself pregnant, I'll have nothing to do with the result; I don't owe a couple a baby, so adoption is a last resort.
@ImMrCharles Wow! Thanks! Let reason and logic prevail! With overpopulation a threat -- even possibly -- and broken, overcrowded agencies present, abortion is the responsible thing to do. Unless or until fake wombs are invented, or fetuses able to be transplanted into the wombs of willing females, abortion should be on the table. I can promise you that the chickens whose heads are sliced off every day so that we can eat at Burger King have more life/intelligence than fetuses.
A fetus is an unfeeling, non-thinking mass [the neocortex doesn't form or start to develop until around week 24]. While it is not literally a parasite, it has the behavior of one, taking nutrients from its host, the woman, and giving nothing back in that sense.
I challenge anyone to find anything anywhere stating that someone has the right to live in one's body against their will.
Even the religious used to believe that abortion's OK until the fetus started to kick; emotional appeals are silly.
@GrammarNazi1988 RedSkyNord would disagree. The idiot honestly believes that it can feel and think. I'm glad to see someone else can see that until it has reach more than half way through it's development it is little more than a parasite. If removed from the host it would perish almost instantly.
@1973Razorback Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting a ton of insulting e-mails from others, though. LOL. I'm a science-minded gal, so that is what I base my opinion on regarding this debate. A 2-year-old human child [they are only *socially dependent,* not *physically,* like a fetus] cannot even recognize his or her own reflection in the mirror until age 2, a test of self-awareness, so why would a fetus that hasn't even seen the light of day have personhood? Logic = reality.
Based on this understanding that babies, children and especially the unborn are innocent and that adults like you and me make horrible assumptions, horrible attitudes and horrible choices...it's obvious to me that you and the rest of us have it completely backwards. The adults should die but the innocent should be sacred and should never be harmed in any way. This is, of course, unrealistic in our world...But I think if we were really honest, that's the only thing that makes real sense.
I am pro-choice even though I myself would never have an abortion.
Basically, If I don't know you, then I concern myself with what you do.
I don't it like when people misconstrued pro-life as being pro-abortion.
People don't realize that if abortions are made illegal, then women will still seek ways to terminate their pregnancy and that's where the crisis comes in because the last thing you would want is for your teenage daughter to get a botch abortion in an ally.
The only thing that I have to say to these anti-abortion people is how many of these foster kids have you adopted? If you can't support your baby for whatever reason and you find yourself having to give your baby away for foster care, can you live with yourself knowing that you're own kid is being shopped around to pay-for-care mums and dads. So if you care so much about abortion, adopt an abandoned kid or even more important, fight to fix our broken foster care system.
@donovanjameson Such a silly argument. As a anti-homeless person, it does not mean that I have to find someone living on the streets and let them live in my home to prove I really care for the homeless. Agree that the system needs to be fixed and all lives should be loved an cherished including foster kids, the homeless and the unborn. Volunteer for an organization you believe in and love people! Whats missing in our society is the caring of the outcast. Be a light!
@Tricia90102 I think it's funny you call my argument silly then turn around and say exactly what I say (volunteer for...) in a different context. I'm simply saying that if you make abortion illegal and you claim to be pro-life. Make sure that the life that you "save" are really saved. I had foster kids in my house for a period of my life. They don't just touch your heart, they put a hole in it. If you knew their reality, you would understand.
I am pro-life, but I do agree that it's mad that in America one side says "Capital punishment is okay, but abortion isn't." and the other says "Killing unborn kids is fine, but don't kill convicted murderers and rapists."
When I say I am pro-life, I mean it. Not just unborn kids but people convicted of murder or rape. There have been many cases where folk have been exonerated posthumously.
I makes me sad that it's legal to take the life of anyone with premeditation. Either case it's murder.
I have to say, until a foetus is close to the 9 month mark, it is little more than a parasite. With out the mothers body to maintain it's life it would perish. People who are anti abortion need to wake up. I agree, it should not be used as a form of contraception. But there are extenuating circumstances and people have no right to tell a woman what she can or can't do with her body. If how ever she is a serial aborter, then she should be sterilised. But abortion in needed.
Actually, a fetus does and can feel pain. In certain stages their 'flesh' is nothing but raw nerves unprotected by skin. In sonogram images of abortions you can see the fetus squirming and reacting rapidly in horror, thus there is apparent survival instinct already there. As soon as an embryo develops into a fetus its the real deal. Understand that it is wrong to consider a fetus to be "little more than a parasite".
@RedSkyNord You my friend are a numpty. I would suggest you go an seriously study human biology, learn the difference between nervous movement and cognitive thought and control. Until you can actually talk sense with a degree of real biological understanding don't bother me with your replies. They are uninformed and ridiculous. Anthropomorphising a collection of unspecialised cells (little more than a gelatinous mass) is your mistake, it is not a concious being for quite some time.
I stood in for an abortion twice. The first time the fetus was alive in a pan for a good 20 seconds. The second one was at a different clinic where the nearly developed baby was rinsed while clinching its fist and gasping for air, then placed in a jar. They are aborted in so many different stages, and yes they [do] feel pain. To deny this is just arrogant.
@RedSkyNord Pain can not be felt if there is no brain to process the nerve impulses. Autonomic responses to stimuli does not denote awareness you stupid individual. No brain, no pain. Therefore your life must be pain free.
@1973Razorback thats simply not true, ganglia may generate this intense nerve response we call pain. It may be translated from nerve to nerve, ganglia to ganglia; thus mimicking the response of pain. Babies begin to develop ganglia as early as 3 weeks but on average around 5 weeks in. So thought the brain is not full developed, the baby feels pain.
if they make abortion illegal, every conception will need to be registered and all miscarrages will be followed by a murder investigation by the same logic. regardless of your ideas, beliefs or whatever, we con not legislate every part of the human experience of life and death. its too big.
When talking about the value of human life, it's always the potential of that life. In general, we like to give each life equal value, but those lacking potential are thought of as lacking value. Contrast their potential, and certain lives are viewed with more value. When someone's potential is compared to another, understandably that someone gets nervous. (e.g., a mother vs her unborn child)... I find it strange that a person might judge a woman--out of context--for possibly being pregnant.
Why are we still under this assumption that to stop something society deems undesirable all we need to do is make it illegal and that will solve the issue. Make abortion illegal and women will stop having them? I don't think so. Women will either go to Canada or turn to an unregulated abortionist. The latter will create disastrous results for both mother and fetus.
A better way to look at a pregnancy's beginning is to look at the nature of life itself. A person's life began not when the sperm entered the egg, but billions of years ago when life took hold on Earth. Life is not a series of individuals, but a long branching series of transformations in form and chemical energy. To consider a zygote to be the beginning of life because they are a singular thing, is to completely misunderstand life. Life is like a river. One H20 molecule is not a river.
4-“I do not believe all human life is valuable” What a slippery slope! If you lived in Nazi Germany would you have been the one that ratted out their neighbor for a reward? Think about it!
5-“Who dictates how valuable a human life is” THE LAW! John Adams said we’re “A government of laws, and not of men” which means that justice is blind and it treats everyone the same (ideally). If you follow the law, you have the right to LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!
1-I'm pretty sure you said in an earlier video that it's your own responsibility if you get pregnant, because you haven't figured out contraception, and how your body works.
2-Yes women have a right to do what they will to their own body, but in a pregnancy there are two entities involved, not just one!
3-'We kill each other because money, fun, religion' Yes, they're called murderers and criminals! The rest of us have a little more respect for human life then they do!
Fuck. I support giving every human being an equal chance at life. But I also don't want kids to be mistreated and neglected because their parents were too stupid to use a condom or whatever reason. So I don't know what to think...Honestly I just wish people never even thought of the idea. Then there would be no conflict
"We kill each other for fun... we kill each other for money.. we kill each other for religion"
Speak for yourself. Don't generalize. There actually are people that are fed up with the degradation and extermination of human life.
After someone has taken the life of someone else in society, and I'm talking about outside of a just war and outside of an accidental death, then I agree, that those people have lost their "equal rights".
@SokemRokemRobot "We" meaning humans. How else should I word that sentence except to say "we?" I'm sick of death and hate but that doesn't mean I'm not apart of the problem. WE as a species. Listen, comprehend then comment. Have a great Monday :)
@Brittanysofficial Have you ever killed someone? No? Then you're not a part of the problem! His comment was perfectly reasonable and I agree: don't put all of mankind on the same level as the murderers! A few bad eggs doesn't spoil the entire clutch of eggs!
@dane7902 No, I haven't but that's not to say I never will. I cannot say that I'll never kill someone, my life hasn't ended, my story hasn't been written. He said outside of a justified war. If he isn't going to consider the deaths in war murder, then this whole conversation is mute. Death is death. Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being. Death is the end of a human life. It's all the same. In the end someone is dead.
I don't agree with the notion that life begins at conception. And I don't care enough about what others think to make up excuses for my opinions nor do I need to justify them to myself. But this notion that a bunch of cells represent a separate human entity, even though there's no consciousness to speak of, is quite ridiculous. If my value system held in high regard mother natures gambling with our genes, then maybe I'd feel differently, but I think our future as humans stands somewhere else.
If a fertilized egg is a human life, given that it has the potential to be a fully grown human, then why not an unfertilized egg? All you need to do is add sperm and you have a fertilized egg.. so it, too, has the potential to be a fully grown human. That does NOT mean that it should be considered a human life, however. The question is when in the process an egg becomes a human with rights. It cannot be at conception, and it cannot be at birth. It must be somewhere in between.
Every cell in the human body, every egg cell and every sperm cell is human life. Now with cloning every cell has the potential to become a full human being. Nevertheless, none of these things are full human beings. At ten weeks there are not brain waves in the sense that adults have them there is record-able neural activity in the sense that a worm has it. The kind of brain necessary for consciousness probably does not appear until into the third trimester,
I like George Carlin's bit on abortion.

Respect for one another is what allows us to prosper and hopefully find some peace and happiness in this confusing world.

@snakebitgoat I'm the dumb one? I said you could compare a 2nd trimester fetus to a pig, not that it was a pig. And I didn't even say a pig Fetus, I said a full grown pig.

Abortion not murder. If a women dosn't wish to have a child then they can abort. If the child can't live without medical support it's not fully alive.
vance282 2 weeks ago 8
@vance282 Not fully alive. This is a statement that makes zero sense. Alive is a statement about an organism that means not yet dead. All life is dying at different rates. To instantly accelerate that process to conclusion is killing and depending on circumstance murder.Need of medical support also has nothing to do with weather or not someone is alive. If that were the case, all patients on bypass machines during heart surgery would be dead bodies until the corpse could be reanimated.
docekks 2 weeks ago
@docekks
I think he means if it can't survive without being in the womb then it isn't alive yet.
I agree, since an unborn animal has no brain function, nerve feelings, etc. It cannot think, or feel pain/pleasure, understand anything. It's not alive.
GortonMichael 2 weeks ago
@GortonMichael Fetuses have their first brain activity between 11 and 12 weeks. What they can experience is not entirely relevant to whether or not it is an individual life. When life is human we extend it protective rights except when it has failed to pass the magical citizen granting passage we call a vagina. That double standard is what I take issue with. A fetus is not it's mothers body it is a citizen who lacks conciseness, much like a coma patient.
docekks 2 weeks ago

NOw im not saying people should feel bad about themselves. Feeling bad is something that should be dwelled on, but analyzed. It helps you to see your strengths and weaknesses. You're going to make decisions you're strong enough to make and others not. Its better to know these things prior to doing them (as to minimize moral casualties).
You also lose it in the end when you say you arent sure if people deserve dignity, but in the beginning you say ppl deserve respect from their actions.
vidfreak56 3 weeks ago
All opinons. You need to stop and try to understand what other peoples views are before you feel things like "want to vomit on them". People value life differently at different stages, and for different reasons. You dont think they deserve respect in some cases? Ok. Thats meaningless to everyone but you and the people who agree. It changes nothing. Life is as valuable (not as you make it - a myth) as your life can be. This depends on the environment you live in, your genetics, etc.

You were right to say that people have the responsibility for their own action and that there is no excuse to become pregnant when there are so many things you could have done to stop it from happening.

I can also see possible arguments for mercy killing fetuses that will live only a short life of pain based on value.

I'm not bringing any statistics or religion into this whatsoever. Just feelings, but people these days don't rely on feelings. Which makes me sad.
But yeah. Perhaps, it'll be feasible to be on birth control? Or men just need to learn how to pull out. Just saying.

GrammarNazi1988 3 weeks ago
A fetus is an unfeeling, non-thinking mass [the neocortex doesn't form or start to develop until around week 24]. While it is not literally a parasite, it has the behavior of one, taking nutrients from its host, the woman, and giving nothing back in that sense.
I challenge anyone to find anything anywhere stating that someone has the right to live in one's body against their will.
Even the religious used to believe that abortion's OK until the fetus started to kick; emotional appeals are silly.
GrammarNazi1988 3 weeks ago in playlist Uploaded videos

Atheist here.
RedSkyNord 3 weeks ago

Be a light!
Tricia90102 3 weeks ago

@1973Razorback
You don't even know what you're talking about.

@1973Razorback It's murder.
TheNikNaK88 2 weeks ago

Speak for yourself. Don't generalize. There actually are people that are fed up with the degradation and extermination of human life.
After someone has taken the life of someone else in society, and I'm talking about outside of a just war and outside of an accidental death, then I agree, that those people have lost their "equal rights".

@Brittanysofficial Have you ever killed someone? No? Then you're not a part of the problem! His comment was perfectly reasonable and I agree: don't put all of mankind on the same level as the murderers! A few bad eggs doesn't spoil the entire clutch of eggs!
dane7902 4 weeks ago

If my value system held in high regard mother natures gambling with our genes, then maybe I'd feel differently, but I think our future as humans stands somewhere else.
sorin7486 4 weeks ago
If a fertilized egg is a human life, given that it has the potential to be a fully grown human, then why not an unfertilized egg? All you need to do is add sperm and you have a fertilized egg.. so it, too, has the potential to be a fully grown human. That does NOT mean that it should be considered a human life, however. The question is when in the process an egg becomes a human with rights. It cannot be at conception, and it cannot be at birth. It must be somewhere in between.
pfarabee 4 weeks ago
Every cell in the human body, every egg cell and every sperm cell is human life. Now with cloning every cell has the potential to become a full human being. Nevertheless, none of these things are full human beings. At ten weeks there are not brain waves in the sense that adults have them there is record-able neural activity in the sense that a worm has it. The kind of brain necessary for consciousness probably does not appear until into the third trimester,
