Right from their first conversation, you can tell who the real hero and villain are. Captain Hammer is just concerned about his image-throwing Penny into the garbage when he could have picked her up or something, hitting the car when he didn't dramatically stop it, beating up Dr. H instead of just turning him in to the police, etc.-whereas Dr. Horrible chastises him for possibly hurting Penny and asks if she's alright. He's so sweet while Captain Hammer is a toolbox-pun definitely intended.

Captain Hammer is such an idiot. I mean he broke the one thing that Dr. Horrible used to save Penny. Then he takes the credit when Horrible's device works again and Dr. Horrible saves Penny. Then Penny falls in love with Hammer. Such a jerk, and he's supposed to be the hero!
