Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him reported that the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “The best of prayer after those prescribed (i.e. obligatory prayer) is that in the depth of night.” [Muslim]
