Wow...My grandmother was 'Maggie' and she loved this song. We played it at her funeral. It makes me cry listening to you singing it...you sing and play so beautifully. I think you have inspired me to learn to play it too. I'm sure I won't even come close to doing it justice but think I have to give it a try.

Nicely done! Thanks for keeping such a lovely song alive. I first heard this in the late sixties while prowling through the record collection of my Grandparents. It was McCormack's version(s) that I came to know best, and then Peerce's. I don't believe Caruso ever recorded this; his English was not so good (although he did record a bit in English) and he would have had a tough time making this song work. But you didn't, so good on you!

@Kittielips I am glad to read your comment about the song going under the name Norah. My mum's name was Norah and when she was born, my grandad was home from the front in World War 1, mum was the 3rd daughter and her parents could not decide upon a name, grandad had heard the song "Norah" liked it so much that they chose that name. This is a beautiful recording.

Wow this is the best i have ever heard this sung. My nan used to adore it. Apparently her father used to sing it to her Mother many many years ago and now the song always reminds my own father of his Mother(my nan) who passed away in 2004.Thanks for posting my dad will love it!
