  • Mia Farrows voice is great in this song idc what people say, she just has that sarrow in her voice that makes it easy to feel her grief.

  • I never liked this song as a kid...I like it better now (I just thought this part of the movie was boring...I wanted more action xD)

  • The movie version of the Last Unicorn was glorious because it had Peter S. Beagle (the original author) writing the screen play. Other movies should learn from this. *nodnod*

And they'd better remake this while Christopher Lee is still alive to play King Haggard again!

  • There's a Tampon Comercial somewhere in here ...

  • I'm sorry to say this because I LOVE this movie, but her English voice is awful, awful, AWFUL. The German version is so much better and that is quite a little miracle because usually our stuff is tons worse, lol. I am confused because our version actually has English lyrics too, the singing is just a thousand times better.

  • good character design

  • i am struck in awe of her beauty....

  • I simply adore her english voice! Its so natural!

  • When i was little this was one of my favorite movies :( And now im 15 and im watching this and i watched the whole movie like a week ago... nostaligia.. but now im a woman!!

  • @Tigerheartwarrior i watched it today the is why im doing this i use to watch it when i was little i told my stepmom about it and she said she had it so i watched it today when i was thinking about it XD

  • Don't kill me for this, but I think this movie could use a good update.

Yes, it's a classic and all that jazz. But the animation isn't that great, and the voice acting is a bit mediocre.

It's really dated. I wouldn't mind seeing a newer version with a cleaner, more streamlined art style, and having the voice actors return for a re-recording.

  • @Kari166 Honestly, if they were to remake this (and assuming it'd be quality) it'd be a big hit with little girls :[ But shhh, Hollywood is full of remake rape so I think it should wait until a competent studio comes along.

  • i LUV this song and movie =3

  • I heard another singing voice in place of Mias. i like hers better, its what I grew with and suits her better. More heartfelt. We can't all be perfect singers! And perhaps thats good for Lady Amalthea, now that shes a woman/human, she isn't "perfect" anymore...love it :) x

  • I want that room with all the unicorn pictures, tapestries, etc.

  • @bridgetolove Mia Farrow is the one who voiced Amalthea. She also sang the songs.

  • reminds me of an od friend........

  • singing is pretty awful...but I love it! who is the voice?

  • my nephew is scared of this part of the movie bcuz this song lol!!

  • THIS IS STUCK IN MY HEAD!! lol

  • I love the song, it reminds me of how much of a little kid I was and what I am now, I'm only 12 but I've been through a lot. It makes me miss my 5 year-old innocence and imagination.

  • @richalvarezfan101 yup trust me it gets worse i am 13. But age is just a number we all still have an imagination and innocence!!!!

  • my gosh, I forgot how much I love this song. So eerie and beautiful. I think I prefer mia ferrow's version over any professionally trained woman.

  • She's gorgeous as a human and she has a prince for a boyfriend, why is she mourning? D: I'd be ecstatic! Well, I guess she hates the menstrual cycles. XD

  • love mia ferrow! good song!!

  • Oh god, I wish I was a kid again. Kids are so innocent.

  • Amalthea, your voice is flat.

  • I ADORE this film so much! And i TOTALLY bealive in Unicorns =D (hugs all unicorn lovers on YouTube)

  • when we were kids we were innocent (didn't drink, smoke or swear and were virgins)

and we were wise becoming a woman u lose all of that inner peace and happiness

  • Mia Farrow is so perfect for this movie she allready looks like a unicorn in human form!!!

  • "Now that I'm a womannnnnnnnn" 1:23 LOL

  • OMG... i remember this... I loved this movie so much... i would watch this over and over

  • this clip made me wanna watch the film again, still got it on video from child hood, is such a lovely film, remember me and mum sitting watching it and sobbing our hearts out, only difference now im watching it on a 100 inch screen love it, thanks for posting

  • Yep . . . everything has changed . . . Damn you menstruation cycles . . .

  • Good song, terribly performed.

  • gorgeous

  • I like both versions of this song, but maybe this one a bit more, because Mia farrow makes Amalthea sound like she is so hurt and lost she may not hit the notes as well as America, but she has a very sweet, emotional voice.

  • @TheCNRProject wait was the other girl who sun this song called America? Sorry if I am wrong.

  • @TheCNRProject No, America was a band of guys who wrote and sung the majority of the music in "The Last Unicorn"

  • I like this version better than the other one, because Mia Farrow just has a more natural sound, and it really has that sad, lost feeling sound that Amalthea has as she tries to remain in the unicorn state and not loose herself to mortality.

  • lol me and my friend hannah randomly started singing this in math class and the teacher was like: SHUT UP! BOTH OF YOU GO TO BUDDY ROOM! :P it was so fun and the whole class laughed non-stop for like five minutes! xD it was so crazy that day!

  • 20 people never watched the movie

  • loved this movie

i want my hair to be like hers:

long and blonder than mine :I

  • FAIL!

  • now that i'm a womaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

  • Innocence is wisdom...

  • Sadly enough, this would be a much nicer song if she could sing...

  • @Mitchellfw There's another version sang by another woman that's much, much nicer sounding than the one in the movie. I don't know where to find it, but it's out there. =P

  • @maskedhero

it's on the official soundtrack, and personally I think it sounds terrible. the movie version is great because the person singing has an actual wavering to her voice like you would if you were sad or lost -- the "upgraded" version just sounds too artificial/kiddy by comparison.

  • "I was innocent and wise. And full of pain"

"in a place I could not find nor heart obey"

This song pulls some pretty emotional chords.

  • god she cnt sing x.x

  • I will admit that even now at 18, almost 19 years old this is still my absolute favorite movie, the art is lovely, the characters deep and enchanting, and the story has caught my heart for years, since when i first used to cry as a 1 year old at the tv when it was over, crying "REEEEEEWWWWWINNNNNDDDD!!!!!!" and although i dont scream at the tv, i still can watch it over and over :)

  • this movie is like no other , its sad and lovely

  • I love this movie and this song. Its beautiful

Makes me think of when I was younger.

    She sounds amazing, its very...unqiue(sp?)

  • I blame the Nostalgia Chick for my being here lol

  • Im shure people wouldent have such a proplem (as wouldent I ) IF the song was a little bit lower (or she sang a little but lower. some of the higest notes... ouch.... they were a but over her vocal cords range. if they would have accepted that, Im shure there wouldent be people saying how horrid this song sound. I blame the composer. He/she knew it would be sang by some one who might not be a professional singer, and yet put those DAMN high notes there!

  • @narmolania I tend to agree. Neither Mia Farrow or Jeff Bridges r singers. The film it's self however makes me forgive all these little issues

  • That chick is nice.

  • Aw, I love Mia Farrow's voice :) I remember this song moving me when I was a kid first watching this!

  • love this song and "the last unicorn"

  • Her voice is pretty, and very natural-sounding.

Something that has been lost in our era of technological "adjusting" and "perfecting".

People need to learn how a naturally beautiful voice sounds before they forget...

  • @Jadensamma, apparently, people also forget about vocal TEACHERS.

it's not about "adjusting" or "perfecting". Her voice actress clearly hasn't had any vocal training. If she did, this wouldn't sound as bad. (Not to mention, if this hadn't been created in the 80's, the music would've sounded better, too.)

  • @Kari166

Go listen to the OST version of this; it has an actually "trained" vocalist. I, however, prefer how it sounds in the movie, because really, nobody is a perfect singer when they're lost, confused, scared, and sad.

  • @KayneArcheron, true.

This is my first time watching anything about The Last Unicorn. XD

  • Such a natural and beautiful voice... I've never heard anything like it since I saw this when I was just a little kid. <3

  • I love this song, it makes perfect sense to me and makes me want to cry a little =' ]

  • i love listening to this song :'(

  • love this song.... and movie!!

  • i think her singing is more realisitic then other movies who make the singing voices perfect.

  • "I was innocent and wise, and full of pain..."

    Ahh, childhood...

  • one of the most lovely voices I have ever heard .. makes me want to cry ..

  • Oh, my Goodness, this is awful! XD

  • I spontaneously started singing this one when I first got my period :3

  • @HideTheDecay I basically did the same thing.

  • @HideTheDecay dammit. I did you liar.

  • @YelenaZaltana Dammit. I've been discovered.

  • @HideTheDecay

you did? lol thats funny XDDDDD i was more like "oh no don't wanna -.-" XD

  • @HideTheDecay ROFLMAO

  • @amalthea25 -wink-

  • @HideTheDecay SAME HERE! I was like.... *scene runs through head* Now I know how she felt! :"(

  • @HideTheDecay i'm not the only one lol

  • @HideTheDecay I'm a man and I got my period watching this. I understand.

  • @tds67timothy: Dude!! I'm a man, and I love this movie, too!! Up top, brother!! :DD

  • @tds67timothy Funniest comment I read all day :'D!

  • @HideTheDecay

    That was too funny!

  • @HideTheDecay LMAO

  • @HideTheDecay haha that's funny xD

  • @HideTheDecay your comment made me LOL

  • @HideTheDecay lol u sao funneh

  • @HideTheDecay lol wtf

  • @HideTheDecay I think I just died laughing. I will never be able to not think of that when listening to this song now. XD

  • Rankin and Bass both have a very trademark style of animation, that is easily recognizable. That is meant as a compliment.

  • i love this song and movie. her voice sounds like its in pain so its perfect for this scene

  • this song reminds me of myself.... i used to be so innocent and free, and now i feel like every thing has become bad since then... i just wish i could remember what i was like then so i could be more like that now

  • @blubryfields4evr I know how you feel.

  • It just sounds good when it's sung bad!

  • It's the lyrics that really hit home.

  • though i didnt turn from a unicorn to a woman....just from a girl to a woman....but its so true....everything is strange.

  • I love this movie, but WHY OH WHY did they let Mia Farrow sing? She's awful! The singer on the soundtrack is better.

  • lmfao

  • I LOVE this movie! And, though to some it sounds "bad" (I don't think so), the natural sound of her voice really brings out the emotion, the sorrow, in this song!

  • lol man the 70s were fucked up good

  • didn't they change the voice for the soundtrack? different singer?

  • @BrendanKAC

yeah i got the soundtrack CD its a totally different voice

  • I love how it's her real voice! It's not dubbed over with a perfect singing voice, it's her voice and it makes it so much more beautiful.

  • does anyone know the lyrics to the songs in this movie? my baby cousins keep trying to get me to sing the songs from it ever since i had them watch it. if you do please just send me a message.. many thanks =)

  • I've always liked this version. Sure it's a bit off-key, but I think that's part of the beauty of it. Truly emotional.

  • Yes I agree. Singing while in pain. She did well to portray this character

  • :D

my cousin watches this movie like every day

  • 16 people listens to Justin Bieber

  • man how movies have changed. I wish they were still this good

  • this is a strange depressing movie

  • @itsmecassiej then how is it rated G lol

  • @Kiora31 theres alot of wierdos whos rated it

  • When she says she lonely, I want to cry.

  • haha I'm looking at the comments, and most of them are saying that the voice is wonderful and how anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron (I agree), but I can't find the bad comments their responding too...

  • shes so pretty with her white hair!

  • Funny thing about her voice...I always thought growing up that the more human she became, the better her voice got. I learned later that the last verse (the one combined with Lir's "That's All I've Got To Say" that isn't shown here) used a completely different voice actor. But still, I like the idea that becoming human gave Amalthea some things (like a human's voice) but took away others (like her immortality).

  • @Pongolyn I thought about that recently, but I was thinking it in more of a joking manner.

  • I LOVE HER VOICE...THOUGH !!٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶

  • I watched this movie when I was about 2 years old. its my favorite move of all time.

  • I hate to be an arrogant snob, but honestly, if you don't like her voice you either have never seen the movie or don't understand what's going on at this point of the story.

  • @KayneArcheron i like this voice. besides she has a good excuse. this movie was made in the 1980's

  • @Waterdragonspidey

I like the voice too, I just hate how people think everything should have some stale "standard" of quality.

Also... are you saying the 80's is her excuse for singing this way? O_o

  • @KayneArcheron no. just ppl think that she should sing like hannah montanah or ke$ha. i think she sings beautifully. just some dont understand that this is a fairy tale from the 80's. that they think that now they sing good and back then they didnt

  • @Waterdragonspidey

No, I think she could have conveyed the emotion without being so nasal. She has a good voice, but I don't think the song is in her key. She's trying too hard to hit some of the notes, and she's singing in too bright a tone. It isn't bad. It conveys the emotion. The choice of techniques is a little strange, but at least she sounded like she wanted to cry.

  • Man, I love this song... And I agree; her wavering and conflicted voice suits the mood PERFECTLY. It almost makes it more authentic and believable. But then again, I guess you'd have to have grown up with the movie and remember the context and emotions that go along with the scene in order to appreciate it.

Regardless; I will ALWAYS love this movie. So well done and such a good soundtrack.

  • Yes, it´s good! One of my favourite Szenes. I´m From Germanny, and there they have let the song how it is and they have Spoke the important sentences on German in the Backround! In German the original Voice of the song is much darker! I didn´t know, why!

I like toast! :)

  • just tears ... perfect amazing beautifull

  • This song is so beautiful. It's so sad and sweet. I love it!

The movie is a little odd... I will say that- it scared the crap out of me when I first saw it really... But it's still lovely! I wish animation could've stayed this raw and pure.

  • I love the voice actress.

  • I love her voice! I wish she sang more in the movie.

  • I love this movie but I really wish they would have gotten someone else to do the singing. Farrow isn't even a mediocre singer, she's just plain bad.

  • i grew up with this movie WATCHING IT OVER AND OVER!

  • Every single time I hear this I get misty-eyed. It's much more powerful in context within the movie, rather than singled out, though.

  • Every single time I hear this I get misty-eyed. It's much more powerful in context within the movie, rather than singled out, though.

  • Nostalgia Chick was right....it is annoying!

  • @ecarg51 and @TTINUPLOTR I Agree with the both of you so much. Music and animation like this is lost. Pure emotion and art has been lost. We are in an age of computers and technology taking over, and autotune and rap becoming what's popular and what is thought of as "talent." but this, this is like a dream, this is magic. And there is so little magic remaining, but only a few people still know what that magic is...

  • @mcladyollivah I completely agree, i used to go to the movies and walk out with a feeling of wonder because for 2 friggin hours i was lost in a world of magic and fantasy... we dont get that nowadays

  • How do you draw her hair?

  • The animation is absolutely beautiful throughout, but I don't know about the voice acting... sometimes it seems better than other times

  • @lovelierlex Mia Farrow is the Unicorn, and as speaking voice goes, it works. I personally feels she cannot sing, but seems to work for the song.

  • This used to be my favorite movie

  • @Waterdragonspidey me too!!! : )

  • @Waterdragonspidey

Me 2... I still love it.. haven't seen it in a looong time..

  • I have this film in DVD and its awsome. All the music is wonderful including this :3

  • @shiroi201 mean, like if you dont like something, why dont you say it nicely

  • I love this movie

  • I don't see how the lyrics don't make sense to anyone? They've always made sense to me, even when I was a little girl. :/

  • @satsukishan me two

  • @satsukishan i agree has always made sense

  • @satsukishan Me too.

  • Of course it makes sense: she is singing about how she's supposed to be someone/something else and was on an important quest, but forgot ever since she turned into a human, even though she still knows in the back of her head.

  • @TheBestKindOfFailure She also understands better as a human with human emotions what else she was looking for back then in the forest. It wasn't just she was beginning to forget herself, she began to like having more ranged emotions than supressed like that of an immortal being.. She also found herself, as a human wanting a companion. Molly and Schmendric weren't quite her friends, they were just tag alongs to her until she was human and back again to a unicorn.

    The story goes really deep.

  • This soundtrack is so pretty.

  • this movie scares the shit out of me

  • @yellowismyfave why?

  • the music when the harpy is there is terrifying :O

  • Sure Mia Farrow isn't the best singer ever, but there's something genuine about this performance. She's not some disney princess singing about birds and princes, she's singing about being a woman and it's a song about reflection. The fact that her singing skills are average suit the moment.

  • ...What's so bad about her singing? o.o I think it's fine.....i think the vacillating voice is rather cute. lol

  • @IntelligentJewel Mia Farrow's unsteady voice suits the unsteady voice of the character, unprepared for her transition into womanhood. I'm sure there was much oo-ing and and ah-ing among the Ghibli bunch about whether or not to let Farrow sing this, due to the risk of people not getting it.

  • @IntelligentJewel It sounds realistic, and she has a very beautiful voice- but what I don't get is that 'that's all I've got to say' sounds completely different... it sounds like she's suddenly turned into a much more vocally trained singer :)

  • idk why everyone says they hate this song I like it haha
