No one is falling behind. American college students at the Graduate level (Master's Degree or Doctor's Degree) perform on the same level as any other nation on Earth. People in this nation are educated to the level that they *seek*. Standardized tests at the elementary school level don't provide any information about the "impending doom" of the American School System. As long as Calculus is still taught at the High School level in America, we are doing fine.
@dusktreader13 What school are you going to? I lived in a large city and the highest math level was pre-calculus. Students who wanted to go higher had to satisfy their math requirement at the local community college. Fact is, defunding of public schools is shrinking our pool of skilled and high level thinkers. It doesn't matter how well we perform in comparison if we have so few of them.
I went to public high school in a little farming town in Washington State. Calculus is only important for students persuing higher education. Any job that doesn't require a college degree doesn't require any math more advanced than algebra, and perhaps trigonometry. American Colleges are competetive with colleges in other nations.
The fact is that public scools waste the lions share of their funding on new curriculum programs and standardized test preparation.

@tittomnstr13 yeah, the percentage was exaggerated, but the point remains that most people are dumbasses-- the only difference between U.S. and other countries is that the U.S. prides itself on ignorence for the most part-- least it seems that way from most people I've seen for the most part.
All and all, the point was more of an observation and a rib at people's igorance was all. No need to take it too seriously, folks, even if it lacked some lols in places. ;)

I believed that they were geniuses but its came to me over a period of time (call me a slow developer :P ) but they are not. They are very talented comics and logical thinkers. No one is falling behind. American college students at the Graduate level (Master's Degree or Doctor's Degree) perform on the same level as any other nation on Earth. People in this nation are educated to the level that they *seek*. Standardized tests at the elementary school level don't provide any information about the "impending doom" of the American School System. As long as Calculus is still taught at the High School level in America, we are doing fine.

@dusktreader13 What school are you going to? I lived in a large city and the highest math level was pre-calculus. Students who wanted to go higher had to satisfy their math requirement at the local community college. Fact is, defunding of public schools is shrinking our pool of skilled and high level thinkers. It doesn't matter how well we perform in comparison if we have so few of them.

I went to public high school in a little farming town in Washington State. Calculus is only important for students persuing higher education. Any job that doesn't require a college degree doesn't require any math more advanced than algebra, and perhaps trigonometry. American Colleges are competetive with colleges in other nations.
The fact is that public scools waste the lions share of their funding on new curriculum programs and standardized test preparation.

Comics are the ones who can talk about the two things everyone used to be told not to talk about: politics and religion. It's interesting to see in a charged political time how even for comedians it becomes hard for them. I noticed how in the beginning he tried to move away from the Iraq debate but, it became too much and had to talk about it. I came to watch some comedy but this was interesting.
