@1rkken i am not sure, whether you called me stupid or not. But i can tell you i can have windows boot faster than that and running all my Programs i want to use faster than win95 boots on this 2ghz computer. Shall it bother me that windows is still working in the background on some other programs if i can use my computer as expected? I do not bother.
But why is it so exciting? There is nothing new or revolutionary in installing win95 on a modern PC...The problem arises when it comes to drivers. Try installing win95 with audio, video, opengl etc. That is something, because then you can use it to play old games :D
@FilipinorenderHD No, these days they SUCK. Since they are so old they can't handle much. For old pc's they are good but if you want a faster one get a Win XP or Win7 for gaming
why will the video be fake? windows 95 was optimized for a minimum requirement of 8mb ram and a 486 pc... anyone related to technology can simulate that boot in his own mind with the specs of your pc -________-"
I had to give up using Win98SE when I've bought a Centrino laptop - Win98 doesn't boot on Pentium M CPUs (big memory is not a problem: 768 MB is safe and more can be made working) normally, but works in Safe Mode, but Safe Mode - is not an acceptable solution.
Running in safe mode is not an achievement. If you could make it work in normal mode, with graphics drivers functioning (full resolution, 32-bit "true colour") - I'd say you're cool. Using FAT16 doesn't make sense at all - not one was using original Windows 95 after OSR 2 arrived (with lots of bugs fixed, FAT32 and USB support added), the same story with Windows 98 - not a masochist would use original Win98 when there is massively fixed Second Edition.
LOL I had my HP WIN95 computer for 10 yrs before I bought a new computer with HP XP (still using it as my desktop for 7 yrs.) I've had a Toshiba Vista laptop which only lasted 3 yrs. and bought a laptop with HP WIN7 11 mos. ago. HP is a great computer. Hubby uses the XP. Too slow for me. Weird seeing 95.
@fearlessz000 your an idiot , you dont understand shit what this vid is about. The operating system is not build for such powerful computers and only supports 480 MB of RAM . The operating system was made for computers in the 90s .
I love your laptop! I had a Compac desktop 95 conputer before. Really nice thing I had but it had a viuer that made it turn on when you did't want it to. LOL
This is kinda like using any linux on any computer, if you dont overpower it with overloaded software. Let me tell you how fast FVWM1 runs on a 3Ghz Core i960.
Nice one, reminds me of the time i tried the exact opposite and booted win '95 on it's minimum requirements using a 16Mhz 386 with all 4 memory banks filled with 1MB SIMM'S to get the 4MB needed. I had to manually input the hdd and was able to get 530mb out of my 750mb hdd, the maximum the old bios would allow. i was able to instal the os and after doing so i timed a boot.. it took 64 seconds from power-on to pushing te start button :)
There's a patch to get WIndows 95 to behave with any processor above 366Mhz, but you need to underclock your processor to boot it first, then you can install the patch.
The reason why you couldn't start it in "real" mode or native is more than likely the drivers pertaining to either the mainboard or you hdd controller...
Windows 95 - Windows ME will only can be Bootable i'f you have 2,10 GHz Processor, i'f you have 2,20 GHz Windows 95 or ME won't work, and you need to edit something in system.ini, to make Boot Windows 95 with 2 GB
@pierreo33 So, with the Mac only having about 15% of the market, wouldn't that suggest that -you're- the mindless sheep? I don't follow trends. I use the good stuff. Try it, you'll like it.
Yea ok so its unusable. Safe mode doesn't load any 3rd party drivers and a lot of services.. so naturaly it boots faster. But judging from the first screen, it takes just as long to boot as windows 7 on my new machine.
I think it generates that protection error because modern CPUs are just too fast for some of the software routines in Win95. I remember people having trouble when they upgraded old Win95 machines to the AMD K6-2 back in the day, and Microsoft had to issue a patch for it. If you locate that patch and install it, you might get it to boot in regular mode.
@derkommissar1917 It displays that error because Windows 95 doesn't know how to address more than 512mb of RAM (if the guy has more than that installed). I tried the same thing with about 2gb of ram and I kept getting an "Unable to start windows. Quit one or more memory resident programs or remove unnecessary utilities from config.sys or autoexec.bat, and restart your computer " message. I reduced the amount of RAM to 512mb, and it booted up.
Very interesting and informative . I just bought a brand new laptop for $550 and found out that the Windows 7 computor can't connect to the internet / Wi-Fi modem which was put there in 2006 . I shall buy another HDD for it and use good old XP ......... When you're on a good thing , stick to it .

Actually I do run windows 98 OSR2 on my pentium D 64-bit. However I have bootgui set to zero, bringing me directly into the equivalent of DOS7. This is so I can print directly from WordPerfect 5.1 and get true letter quality the way it's supposed to be. microsoft claimed there was no DOS in windows 95 or 98 -- they were lying. You just need to edit a text file and you'll have direct access.
@levo75 You've bought microsoft' lies. Change file msdos.sys in root directory to unhidden and turn off Read Only and System attributes. Open with notepad or any text editor. Change line "BootGUI=1" to "BootGUI=0". You'll get the splash screen then go directly into DOS 7.

@cb5705cb5705 "no dos in windows 95 or 98" Windows has always been a graphical shell around DOS.
