  • I got to see him at the bluebird in Denver on his last tour a few years back..... I went all by myself. It was one of the greatest shows I ever saw. I knew every word and sang along. He signed my poster I had stolen weeks earlier. I let him keep my red magnum 44 for signing other peoples stuff. He was so nice- shook everybodys hand. All 30 of us got a chance to see a piece of reality behind American folklore that night. *A true moment in life when life stares back.

  • The Louvin Brothers is the best that there ever was and that there ever will be. I am blessed to have gotten to see them perfom in Lynchburg, Va. in 1954. I will never forget going to see them. Thanks Charlie and Ira for this great harmony sound, one of a kind.

  • When Charlie lost his fingers--helping somebody put down their trailer awning--it was another tragedy in this story. Charlie's a great guy and I'm honored to have met him.

  • Wow~

  • @chrisrox62 fuck you , you piece of shit

  • @chrisrox62 Really. Keep the inappropriate language out of here. You can express the same idea using actual language. What's appropriate on the Korn video isn't here.

  • "You can't charge an old battery with an old battery."

-Charlie Louvin, on hitting on the waitress in Oakland, CA 1997

  • the stuff on that stone makes ya cry kool rock em charlie

  • Sweet song. My partner and I do two Louvin Brothers songs and love singing them...

  • It has been a year since my last posting on this song, a song I visit often. It touches me more today then it did when I heard it a year ago, and it will touch me more every time I hear it. Now, at that same 2:08 mark, I wept again. This song touches me, and others, in such a way that no song today on the radio can do. I thank God everyday that I still have my brother, and that i can listen to both Charlie and Ira sing on cd's, cassettes, and even old LP's. Bless them both.

  • beautiful. What harmony when they were together. Many childhood memories.Together forever in love and in song.

  • charlies great sense of loss even after all these years is so painfully obvioushe is pouring his heart out in this beautiful song for me nothing tops it bravo for this posting

  • 42 years later......

    still missing his brother......

this pulls on the heart strings!!

    amazingly beautiful!!

  • so great to actually see some footage of ira in person there is just so little available of this brilliatly talented person available on the net or anywhere for that matter what a tragic oversight that this duo wasnt video recorded more than they were. according to the country music hall of fame they only did a handful of tv spots and hardly anything was recorded such a huge shame really

  • I've always loved the Louvin Brothers music and as we see in this video that Charlie misses his brother so much. What a duo they were. A sweet and sad tribute to Ira here.

I read on a country music site today that Charlie is releasing an album this coming December called "Murder Ballads and Disaster Songs". I know many old songs have that theme in them but I have a hard time listening to them myself. However, I wish Charlie much success with this upcoming album. Thank you - Paula

  • went on the net and found this one. the louvin brother's has a song i love.. the knoxville girl my best friend's grandmother gave me the 45.

  • for 2 minutes, and 10 seconds, I fought back the tears......I heard the mandolin playing in the background, and I weeped openly.

You can find a smoother, stronger, younger sounding voice than Charlie's was in this song, but you will NOT find a more honest, powerful, and loving voice than this.

32 years later, and his love, and pain, almost seem stronger now.

  • A beautiful tribute to a lost friend and brother. Sing on, Charlie!

  • I'm so happy to have found this. I love this song and the legacy Charlie still represents.

I wish Gram could have lived to hear it.

  • Thought of Ira's sweet music, thought of the brothers I love and don't see half as often as I should. Bless you, Charlie.

  • This is really touching. Brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for posting this.

  • this was bitter sweet

  • Charlie's voice is so beautiful, and this song is a fine tribute to Ira. Lovely

  • they parted ways in 1963,then ira died in 1965. they were elvis p. favorate.

  • I had the privlege of hearing Ira and Charlie at a barn dance in Kentucky in 1963, and can really understand Charlie's words in this song. Their harmony and ability to sign with each other was bueatiful. I love this song!

  • Just stumbled on this song, Great great music. Thank you to who ever put this up.

  • This is what's possible when country people sing country music about love and family and loss. This is country music that goes right straight to the heart. Thanks an awful lot for posting it. (Yeah, it made me cry, too.) RB -- Iowa

  • iam all blues and soul, rock and roll. but i have always loved tear jerkers bluegrass just as good. i just found louvin bros. i cried on this one. iam in heaven.

  • This song really made me cry, and I'm not one who cries over songs easily. I listen to so much of their early stuff that I came to know of their perfect harmony, and I can imagine how hard it is for him to lose someone so necessary ...

  • Charlie, You know how much I love and have since I worked for you 25 years ago. I still say you're the best. This song only proves it!

    Freddy from Indiana........

  • This is just about the the greatest thing I've ever seen. Praise Jesus. Let's all live right, and we'll all sing with Ira and Charlie and the angels.

  • That is just brilliant. Real music from the heart.

  • PS, and I promptly ordered the CD - arrived today, recommended !

  • great song

  • OMG, this is one of the most touching videos I've ever seen. The Louvin Brothers are such legends, this brings such a human side to it. I never really thought about Charlie's loss.

  • s u

  • What a beautiful song sung with so much sad feeling.Great job,Charlie.RIP,Ira.

  • please dont listen to the nay sayers who say ira was not a kool person.HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD STOP TO HUG A LITTLE KID ON THERE WAY TO THE STAGE.NOT MANY STARS ILL WAGER.IRA LOUVIN L I V E S MY HERO

  • a touching tribute to a loved one.

  • Quite possibly the single most powerful song I have ever heard. Charlie's love, and pain are being wore on his sleeve for all of us to see, share, enjoy, and cry. Thanks for the great music Ira, and thank you Charlie.

  • An awesome song and tribute to one of the greatest.

  • This is country music at its finest. Really, it's what makes the music so special and honest and true. The song brings tears to my eyes every time, it's absolutely gorgeous. Charlie is a legendary artist for good reason.

  • Charlie, you are do the one and only.

    Terje Tangen

  • What an awesome video full of memories !! Charlie you are the best!!

  • What a fantastic video filled with memories of one of the most influential groups in the history of music. Charlie Louvin is an American icon who went on to have great solo success. Hearing him sing about the loss of his brother goes beyond the music itself. It hits home with anyone who has a brother. What a wonderful video of a well crafted song!!! Great stuff!!! - Joe Rucker
