  • Is that a SureFire G2 Nitrilon? If so, what kind of mount is it on?

  • @macdiehl14 It is a G2 Nitrolon, the light mount is FOBUS but I don't think they make that style anymore. Pretty much a straight plastic one- made in Israel.

  • @streakingcameraman 1) Yes it is a midlength 2) I am a much older Currahee, Korea 88-89 - Ramadi was a tough deal, I kept up with the 506th as much as I could. Glad you are safe

  • @excurrahee As I'm sure you know, 506 is back with the 101st in Campbell, We deployed in 2005 (november we were in Kuwait, 25 Dec 2005 we were in Ramadi. Hell of a christmas present right? Does the midlength shoot "smoother" as I've heard or does it reall matter? I'm piecing a rifle together (college budget) and I can get an upper from Palmetto in carbine 14.7 or 16 Midlength. The 14.7 is more but it has a hammer forged barrel while the 16 has the chrome lined....I'm used to the M4 but never

  • @streakingcameraman I would make sure that any barrel you get is chrome lined, and I here good things about PSA. THe midlength is a bit smoother, but you wouldn't really notice it unless you shot one right after the other.

  • @excurrahee Yeah, the kicker is I have the mental image of what a M4 (forgery) should look like because I carried one for so long. I will probably go with the 14.7 with the a2 with a forged barrel (it has the double thick chrome lined). That puts it at 16 inches which is legal but only.2 mm longer than the real ar 15. I think my second build will be the Midlength. My brother is wanting me to assemble a lower for him, i'll talk him into the midlength so we can compare. Either one will work

  • @excurrahee Fired a midlength so I was just curious. I am a surgeon with an m4 but this is my own little gift to myself so I'm just looking around. Palmetto State Armory has some good build kits for a great price, plus their forges use FN barrels. Should I go the 14.7 with a permanent A2 suppressor or the 16 with the Middy? Tell me what ya think.

  • @ford351mod thats why the america is feared

  • just curious... most pro tactical instructors teach you to charge the ar with your left hand. As an instructor why are you charging the gun with your right hand?

  • @jaythephotofiend I would recommend doing it with the support hand as well (when standing, not in the prone) I used to not worry about it during fry fire drills, but consistency is always good.

  • Excellent video. I've used this video to practice dry firing my AK at home. I've noticed improvement on the range.

  • @FATSUZUKI2003 The point of the second amendment was to discourage foreign invasion and a government wanting to become tyrannical. The fact that the people (where the power is supposed to reside in this country) have stopped taking it seriously is a major root of all our problems.

  • did you record this on a VCR? in 2009???

  • @MommyBird10 on a VCR? The camera was analog if that is what you mean. High 8 tapes. I'm sorry if you feel the quality detracts from the training value - it is three years old and technology changes rapidly (especially since I am on the low end of it)

  • shoot your television set sounded oddly specific... :P ?

  • I may sound stupid here, but that AR 15 looks A LOT like a colt model M4! I saw Penn and teller show fire an AR 15 as a demonstration, and their AR 15 looked different from yours!

  • @SAOrules There is a lot of variety in ARs dude. The big difference in an AR and an M4 is the happy switch (full auto) which mine does not have

  • @excurrahee Well, my main question is, since your AR-15 is modeled after the M4 SOPMOD assault rifle, is the AR-15 based mostly off appearence-wise off of the M4?

  • @SAOrules The AR-15 is based off of the M16, with the exception of the firing modes. You can take an M16 look alike AR-15, get different barrel, handguard and foregrip. Also the M4 has a different upper reciever than the M16 (M16 has a handle, while the M4 has a rail for optics and other attachments). You can basically customize your AR-15 to mimic the appearance of an M4 or an M16 depending on your preference. Ar-15 = Semi Auto; M16A4 = Semi/3RB; M4 = Semi/Full Auto. Hope this helps.

  • @hotsmudgesundae Actually that helps alot! Thanks dude!

  • @SAOrules M-4s are AR-15s, so are M-16s.

  • @wahsnella Um no. They look similar. Thats is it. M4 is has fully automatic capabilities and is more compact and upgradable, while an M16 has 3 round burst capabilities and is larger with fewer upgradable parts (i.e. the upper reciever on an M16A2). The AR 15 takes a semi automatic approach to both of these weapons allowing you to customize it how you see fit to your own liking.

  • @hotsmudgesundae Incorrect, the AR-15 came first. The M-16 and M-4 both came from the AR-15 and that, came from the AR-10. Look it up.

BTW some AR-15s are full auto too.

  • Per the forward assist question; the best I've heard it put, "I'd rather have a forward assist and not need it than not not have a forward assist and need it."

  • how important is the forward assist ? because the S&w magpul moe i wanna buy doesnt have it.

  • @6SLICK6MANE6 I think the S&W MOE has one, you might be referring to the sport - it doesn't have a forward assist or dust cover. I think they are pretty important on a hard use gun.

  • @6SLICK6MANE6 well if you are in combat then yeah important but since its the m&p sport.. its for sport so no real need for it just youtube M&p reviews and everyone says its unneeded.. like the dust cover

  • @6SLICK6MANE6 you really dont need it just make sure you pull the charging handle all the way back and send it home its not that important

  • @6SLICK6MANE6 You shoot all day and let the chamber get dirty you will end up using the FA. I can't imagine having an AR without it, doubly so with the dust cover. I make vids for people who consider it possible that their ARs be used for something else. If you think of ARs as toys where cost cutting doesn't matter you should be watching something else

  • @excurrahee price on a ar is not a problem so im gonna make sure i get one with a F assist and dust cover i guess its better to have one than not have it. thanks for all the advice.

  • @excurrahee Absolutely, couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Great video! What kind of vest is that btw?

  • @xx801cloudxx It's a blackhawk chest rig- pretty simple one.

  • Oh man, being an american seems so cool. Here in brazil, just to get a .22 you have got to get a lot of documents and, a semi auto version is like the price of 4 basic ar-15. Believe me, criminality here in brazil is much higher. Ps: a lot of calibers, including 223 are prohibited for civilians

  • @benefactorBR There are a lot of folks that would prefer it to be that way here.

  • @excurrahee I know. A lot of people are anti armamentist. I mean, here, you don't have guns, but, the criminals keep having guns. Otherwise from the usa, our police is not thrustworthy, and our government keeps raping us with unjust taxes. e.g: it's virtually impossible to get a paintball marker over here because you will need a lot of documents, and, it gets to the price of five markers in the usa.

  • Does letting the bolt slam forward on a empty chamber potentially damage the rifle?

  • you are a great american ? thanks

  • @bordersling Glad you like it, help spread them around.

  • I really enjoy your videos buddy! I have a 20" upper with free float barrel, and put an M4 stock on it. I've tried that one handed reload and I think I need to work out some more :) extra 4 inches of steel really does weigh alot lol.

  • @amgabriel131 Work on getting the stock under the arm, you do a lot of mag changes with a lightweight and it will start to hurt. AND this gives you more positive control.

  • Every citizen in the United States have the rights to bear arms, be a soldiers or militia. Under the 1st and 2nd Amendments to the Constitution. BUT! the two amendments does not apply to those felonies convict.

Hey buddy, do you know if we could use the same ammo like the military using? Because I remember a friend saying that you cannot use military ammunition in California. Correct me if i'm wrong. Thank you for the video info.

  • @hlubtiagproduction The military mostly uses federal XM855, it is available for purchase by mail order in most states. I do not live in CA but it is my understanding that you could have it there, you just can't mail order it... I think they just passed a law against mail order ammo. I don't think it has anything to do with it being military ammo. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about California laws will answer.

  • Wait, WHY should every citizen be a soldier?

  • @ElSanti0 Every citizen should be ready (mentally physically and materially) to protect their lives property and rights. That was what Jefferson was saying and that is what I push for. If you can't appreciate what he meant you probably shouldn't be watching my videos, or even appreciating the 1st and 2nd amendments that bring them to you.

  • I just got into AR shooting last week. I have to thank you for your great tip videos. They are going to save me a bundle practicing before live firing drills. Thanks again for the time you put into these for newbies such as myself. Take care man!

  • Good stuff...thanks

  • It is also a good idea, to practice reloading while taking a knee. That is how it is taught in BCT

  • @3Camron3 practice changing mags in every position, especially the prone and side prone as that is the one that throws off the magpul fanboys.

  • Man that took me back to my old military days. A washer works best when practicing trigger squeeze.

  • Awesome video!!!

  • Great advies and the sports thing another good advies

  • dimes are better...lighter and more sensitive

  • @DarkHorseI Dimes work good on a pencil barrel, the are LESS sensative on a thicker barrel.

  • you could allways duel the mags were they are together so u got 2 mags pull it out turn it upside down and their u go

  • @BasketballVideos4you Placing one upside down is a mastake - if you go prone it will stick in the dirt. Side by side both facing up with a spacer is the way to go (there are comercial products that achieve this.) I don't like any because it throws of the balance of the weapon.

  • @excurrahee yea thats true i like the video i was looking up some different things about the AR-15.what would be good tactical attachments for the AR-15

  • @BasketballVideos4you get simple two point sling, iron sights to start, cleaning kit and mags and ammo - then more mags and ammo. When you get proficient with that you might add a red dot and light and shoot more ammo. Put at least a thousand rounds through it before you think of adding anything else. It is a rare firearm accessory that will make you shoot better than an equivalent amount of ammo shot in practice.

  • @excurrahee I think most people do the complete opposite lol

  • might I suggest on your retention reloads, placing the fresh mag so its base plate is resting on the palm of your hand, this will give you a more positive seat when your hands are sweaty, muddy, bloody and shitty.

  • @AtavistArise I will give it a try.

  • i watched this video at the same time it was made lol

  • @0P3NY0UREY3S you will have to explane that one

  • @excurrahee on the clock at the bottom right it said like 11:16 am

  • @0P3NY0UREY3S Gotcha - I though you were spying on me in the woods or somehting

  • Thank you so much! ive been practicing survival, tactics, and firing weapons just in case the crap hits the fan in America. And I will defend it.

  • Great video! Thank you!

  • I remember sports thats all we heard by the drl sgt in basic bt on the real try this drill it helps thts what i used and i quilified

  • Good advice thanks

  • Great videos! (I've seen a few already) but the quality is brutal to watch... If it weren't that what you're saying is so solid I would have a hard time watching because of how bad the quality is.

  • @mmaking I'm sorry, that was my old camera. You should check out some of the new ones

  • Well done.

  • exactly what D3mang said.. dry firing does not hurt centerfire firearms

  • Great video thanks for the info. Purchased my first AR15 lower the other week and cant wait to squeeze a few rounds...practice.practice.practice. great video thanks! !

  • @BlackEntForest Glad you like it - practice practice practice

  • God damn bullet button. We get invaded, thats whats going to kill us.

  • @apso5 Sounds llike you got the "livin' in California blues"

  • I thought dry fireing was bad for the gun.

  • @apso5 then don't do it

  • @apso5 Dry firing is fine for modern Center fire firearms. Rimfire is bad because the pin hits the chamber and can do damage to the pin after even one click. I have dry fired my modern rifles hundreds of times... But if I did it to my rimfire, it would be toast already.

  • @apso5 22 rimfire you sure do not want to dry fire. Most center fire weapons I'd not worry about dry firing. Some revolver center fires with the firing pin on the hammer I'd probably not dry fire too much if it is a fixed firing pin (as in not on a pivot point). No, I"m not a gunsmith, just a shooter with experience. Dry firing is a great way to practice. YMMV.

  • Great video, I am purchasing a SW MP15 pretty soon and these are some good things to know how to handle.. I will definately practice AND make sure no rounds are present during exercise :D

    Thanks for the video!

  • Good vid, what do you mean why would a civilian need to know this stuff? Its just extra good information for any gun owner to use for better handling of the gun that they own. Its not just the equipment you have on your gun that makes you a good shooter its all about practice and know how. I'm in canada so we can't have fully auto's but small tips n tricks like that help out for any new gun owner. Thanks

  • Nice vid I just ordered a rock river mid length

  • Is that a mid-length?

  • you posted this on my birthday!!!!

  • malfuction clearance? get an ak

  • @emasterpiece15 Spoken like a true fanboy, did you learn about the AKs reliability playing modern warfare?

  • @emasterpiece15 Every gun malfunctions, even the AK, but I'll say that a well made AK with a good magazine, and good ammo, almost never jams or rarely jams.

  • @esh325 Amen... finally someone who agrees with me! That's true even for an AR though! (that a well made AR, with good mags, and good ammo will rarely malfunction) I know mine has been rock solid for about 10,000 rounds now! DPMS AP4, 16" tube, with chrome plated internals and new issue colt GI mags, and I NEVER EVER run tula, wolf, or anything like that... only new factory loads from reputable companies!

  • @VTsheepdog There's no reason to not run Tula or wolf in your AR15. The worst that will happen is that might jam. Out of about six or five AR15's I've fired, only one didn't like wolf.

  • @VTsheepdog I've run my AR15 with Wolf and TMW just fine, the only problems I ran into was mil-surp mags that have given up the ghost so to speak. The one thing people must remember when shooting the wolf or what not is that the cases do not exspand like the brass casing so it gets gunk in the chamber. Most people that i know reported failure to feed or failure to release spent casing when going to brass strait from shooting wolf... you must clean the chamber really well to keep it running

  • @amgabriel131 @esh325 I just refuse to use it.... I only use NEW production, BRASS cased ammunition. Why would you put something with a lacquer coating and/or a weak steel case in a tool that your life might rely on someday. I sure as hell would not use it as my primary self defense ammo! It's just a liability is all. Like I said in my carbine breakdown vid.... I've only had one malfunction ever with my rifle and it was because of a bad gas ring!

  • @amgabriel131 That "gunk" you're referring to is probably the lacquer coating from that cheap shit! As you shoot more and more, and your chamber heats up, it melts the coating off the case and gums up your chamber.... that's why brass hangs up and you have to clean the hell out of your chamber!

  • Why would a Civilian need to know all this stuff?

  • @2012bishnasty Because we live in a free society and every citizen should be prepared to do what is necessary to protect that liberty. That's my take anyway, plus it's fun, a decent sport and hobby.

  • @excurrahee Well said! Although I do feel that everyone has the choice whether to arm themselves or not. It seems really fun to do. I can't wait to get into fireams. I'm a big believer in the Second Amendment.

  • @excurrahee

USA isn't a free society at all, and I'm american myself.

  • So they can shoot there TV of course, duh @2012bishnasty

  • @2012bishnasty If you have to ask, You wouldn't understand!

  • shit i shot my TV

  • @arvis97 You will feel yourself getting smarter within one or two days.

  • @excurrahee WOW! I do feel smarter now!

  • @arvis97 Its ok if American Idol is on! haha!

  • Great vid but plz get a molle ii plate carrier there muck better

  • the value of a soldier would go down and the honor of soldiers would decrease

  • @Motocross981 Another person who doesn't understand what Jefferson was saying.

  • @excurrahee What chest rig is that?

  • @009jorge1 Blackhawk

  • @excurrahee Man i wish my dad was into guns ive always like them but my dad has never really let me really be able to enter the gun world i went to a gun show a couple months ago with him not knowing and he got kinda angry when i told him

  • If you live by that motto just join the military and stop looking like a poser. And I agree its not for everybody

  • @biddleboy325 Already did it.

  • @biddleboy325 you call him a poser but you don't have a clue if he was or is in the military, but i guess everyone else can figure that you're just a hater. this video is not for you so you should of never wasted 9 mins 49 sec of your life watching it boy.

  • @biddleboy325 Most "patriots" in America ARE current or ex-military you buffoon! Geesh..... some people!

  • Nice video. Thanks for posting.

  • not every citizen should be a soldier.. it isnt for everyone

  • @lvrpatriot01 Not everyone should join the military, if that's what you think I mean then you miss the point; but everyone should understand how to and be prepared to protect their individual liberty.

  • @excurrahee

If everyone who likes firearms in the US joined the US military then "the people" would be deprived of arms, no? I thought the 2nd Amendment was to ensure "the people" were an equal and opposite force to the government's military and police forces...... if a state of tyranny arose. "being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed"

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

  • @CanadianReich Not what it means (though most everyone having some military experience is a good idea) I mean it in the way that Jefferson meant it. Philosophically every citizen is responsible for the protection of their individual liberty, home, property etc. Practically this means that everyone should have the means and the training to accomplish these goals. I feel that when a society gives the protection of their freedoms to a particular class, that freedom will disappear.

  • @excurrahee

Absolutely. Your definition and mine are linked however. Part of "every citizen is responsible for the protection of their individual liberty, home, property etc." would apply to any threat aimed at said citizens ranging form criminals or perhaps including government tyranny (imo). Also, if society gives the protection of these freedoms to a particular class and that class consists of the ruling class (gov, mil, police) again our definitions are linked. I agree with you 100%.

  • magazines are disposable, in combat taking that long to reload is a bad idea, i suggest letting the mag hit the ground and dont worry about picking it up until the threat is neutralized

  • Nice. If u dont mind me asking. What state do you live in? What permits did you need for that type of firearm? What brand/how much is that gun ballpark? Thanks

  • @mrrockso117 Southeast, none, I built it myself and as it is now about $1200 with the red dot.

  • Man that is some serious skill. Excellent video! I must say that all exercises were really great, but the one with the coin was certainly the most interesting one!

  • Exccurrahee....Great Vid...what my eyes were looking at is your ability to raise the weapon and bring it to a STEADY aim from a standing position. It looks like a magnet pulls the barrel perfectly level, unmoving...AMAZING SKILLS! I ain't never seen no cheet like dat mang! But might I ask where and what kind of chest rig you have for your clips? Looks heavy duty....

  • @HatrickPenry Glad you like it, make sure you spread it around and watch the rest. The chest rig is a Blackhawk only about $70

  • He needs a dump pouch bad

  • @TheWesman45 I don't do dump pouches

  • Comment removed

  • New AR10 owner - thanks for the video - great work. To the know-it-alls who can do it better - put up or shut up.

  • good info ,Im just learning all the firearm tricks so this helps.

  • @amcanmike

haha gotta love youtube for us non military types....and internet forums.......and downloadable USMC manuals...... the info is out there for us noobs to learn! :B

  • A+ thanks for the video.

  • are you x-mil? nice weapons handeling. noticed you mention some army acronyms about reloading. but there are a few you didnt touch on that can increase your reload time drastically. and some ways to make the clearing process easier.

  • Great video brother! Thank you!

  • @fgecic2 Glad you like it, help spread the word

  • thanks alot brother, I'm heading off into basic training soon and I've never really held an automatic weapon before. this video taught me most of the basics! appreciate it. God bless!

  • @VikDAkinG Don't worry - when you get to basic they will teach you all you need to know. (Or all they want you to know)

  • @excurrahee great video man love the gun cant wait i am also heading to basic traning soon videos help alot

  • @VikDAkinG best of luck my friend

  • what type of handguard are you using?

  • @Garen86 Cavalry Arms

  • oh and great video

  • I like the mag storage. You kind of got this private contractor look going on there :D

  • @redneck500 Not much sense carrying a magazine fed firearm if you don't carry extra magazines

  • @excurrahee You won't get any arguments out of me about that.

  • Love your videos!

  • Great video! This is BRM without having to enlist, play it 25-50 times a day, do push ups and mtn climbers, dime and washer drills, SPORTS until you gag and practice mag changes with broken mags...the main thing this or BRM with a clean rifle cant really duplicate are specific malfunctions so I'd say get your rifle filthy and keep shooting until you get some malfunctions to practice with.

  • @benjkowski Ball and Dummy drill. insert a dummy round randomly in a mag so you don't know when it is coming up, or loosen the feed lips on a training mag and it will give you double feeds.

  • Can I get an AR- 15 that has 3 round burst, without a license?

  • @AHTSvideo No

  • @excurrahee so it's single shot only if I want to stay legal?

  • @AHTSvideo Pretty much the way it is, assuming your in the US

  • @excurrahee Ok, well thanks for the info.

  • @AHTSvideo what you can get is a pre-1986 M16 that has 3 rd burst and full auto; they are expensive as hell though

  • @Alutacon I wish i could afford that!

  • Looks fun.

  • very informative

  • Great video! Thank you

  • Thanks for the input, and your right about the name calling but you made me mad by calling me wrong and then not offering a explanation! Thanks for the input again and any more useless or useful info you want to pass on will be greatly appreciated!!

  • good drills but please, please don't do this in your living room. I don't care how positive you are about your weapon being empty but that's terrible weapon safety. My wife and son almost got shot through the wall in our apartment not too long ago from someone's "empty" .45.

  • @stryker0331 read post above my apologize and thanks again for the info and again im always looking for useful or useless info when it comes to firearms knowledge and safety

  • one thing I can suggest is to never look down at your rig or gun. You should be able to this without looking. It will take practice but I read a story on AR15 forum that a younger fellow in the marines is now in a wheel chair for the rest of his life because he was busy looking down at his rig doing a slow reload. Google AR15(dot)com/forums/topic.html?b=9&f=1&t=228582

  • Thought the saying was "An amature practices until he gets it right, a professional practices until he gets it wrong."

  • @shaokem Google is your friend

  • @excurrahee Yeah... either or, same difference I suppose. Nice video though!

  • Thanx.

  • is the AR-15,M4,.M16 the same weapon they all look the same

  • @The348864 They are all very similar, have the same fundamental operating system, shape etc. There are differences in barrel length, stock size, presence of a carry handle, and military versions have burst or full auto fire.
