It was posted on the web site as a 'pdf" file instead of a the normal "text" file -- which meant that NO keyword searches could be done; that is NOT transparency -- it is obfucation. The $5 Billion train from LA to Las Vegas will not have an Environmental Impact Statement done for four years -- not exactly immediate stimulus. Add to it things like Honeybee Insurance and I fear we have a prescription for disaster.

The Democrats took control of Congress in 2006 on the premise that Republicans had overspent on the national budget. They promised America a lower, or no, deficit. Now they control the agenda. I don't understand why Democrats should be upset. They can take full credit for this program's success. President OBama is expanding the size and cost of government which will cost each and every American more in the long run. I heard someone say that if you took the amount of this bill, and divided among every tax paying American, it would equal about $190, 000 each. Given us that kind of money and you will see unemployment go down.

I did not say that I had done the math or look at the numbers myself. The cost of the bill is now, with interest, over a trillion dollars. I do not know the exact number of tax payers, but I am sure it is not 2/3s. However you have missed the point.

If the Democrats want to spend this kind of money, that is fine. They have the votes to do it. Just don't call it an economic stimulus bill. They have loaded this thing with off-budget spending which has nothing to do with "saving jobs".

It is not a question of being happy. It is a question of pure deception on the part of the Democrats. This is NOT an economic stimulus bill. It is nothing more than a Democrat spending bill. This spin is already beginning with this "jobs saved" nonsense. No one can prove a job was saved by this bill because it wasn't lost in the first place.

The bill ALWAYS included tax cuts. President OBama said there would be "targeted tax cuts". They did not give the Republicans anything. Democrats KNOW there had to be tax cuts if this bill was going create any real jobs.

They could have written a bill with absolutely no tax cuts at all and passed it without a single Republican vote. They did not do that because they know it would not stimulate the economy. Government spending will not fix this problem.
