@jazzmac03: I think that was just the "I'm going first, right?" look, although the other reason makes perfect sense. But I won't blame the guitarist for "comping too loud," he didn't run the sound board for this concert appearance.
p.s. Totally dug the sure power of Jon N. on alto.
some good playing there, I really loved how the guitar player started his solo, but a little less of the chromatic stuff used at times, also in my opinion he was comping way too loud, it felt a little stiff.
the sax dude could slow down a bit at times it felt he was rushing it, he did get a nice sound out of his instrument though.
nontheless, great playing and interaction of everyone, I loved it.
I really like the way the guitar is comping!

Thanks! Yes, they are the original strings. Way light compared to the traditional Double Bass strings I'm more accustomed to using.
