    Philippe 4ever!

  • Ingenious idea of the scenographers! To mix the most elaborated and perfect performance with absolute ridiculous costumes! simply delicius to watch and hear!

  • I am just enjoying a visual feast here. I love the costumes and set-- they have so much character!

  • So??????

  • jaroussky TE AMOOO

    ESPECTACULAR

  • The cutiest Nerone with the most amazing voice I've ever heard, I wish I could be his

    Poppea in this scene.

  • Me too!Although I sang Agrippina:lol:I hate the costumes but... still I love the voices!Bravo Philippe!

  • I totally agree with you about the costumes. But since I've watched this DVD so much, started to like them, ha ha. He looks so adorable no matter what!

  • I think you managed to get used to those costumes!I didn't!But yeah, he looks adorable no matter what. Even in the new production Rinaldo, that one with a huge yellow chicken whose part in the opera I fail to understand... maybe if I see it. Poor Philippe, always finds these insane directors and scenographers.

  • Jaroussky played Rinaldo, did he? Will it be available on DVD soon, you think? I've only seen the one with David Daniels. You mean this yellow chicken

is part of the opera? Sounds weird.

Now I really want to see it!!!! ha ha

  • Yes, he played Rinaldo but in this production he plays Eustazio. And you should search it on the net, the pictures you are going to see are terrifying! And the big yellow "Tweety's gone evil" just hurts more. Poor, poor Philippe, he and scenographers don't really get along. Too bad, he's too good looking to be given idiotic costumes and pushed into the most stupid stagings.Someone make a good approach of baroque opera and cast him in it, PLEASE!!!

  • Wow! That sounds too weird even for me, here I'm

thinking I've become a bit more open-minded after

watching other weird Handel operas on DVD.

I don't know what kind of sense of humor Handel had when he was alive, but a great one, I hope!

  • Handel had a weird sense of humour. He wanted the famous Francesca Cuzzoni to..well hang on some window because she refused one of his arias and enjoyed pretty much the fight the temperamental soprano and her other female rival on the stage.(I think his line was "Let them get tired and then get them out of here!")He is said to be quite exigent and extreme when it came to his operas so...

  • I've read he was also very generous, probably anything

other than his food, a softhearted man with a weird

sense of humor, my kinda guy! I love him so.

  • He must've been quite sensitive in many ways aotherwise he wouldn't have been able to write music ao beautiful(Lascia ch'io pianga-Rinaldo and Io t'abbraccio-Rodelinda are incredibly beautiful). But for his singers he was quite a pain.

  • U r right!he's definitely cute here.although the first sight of the costumes made me giggle, i think they suit the performance good for this opera!,i have the DVD too and i'll run it once more,hehehe...握手!

  • Clown-like costumes and staging, high quality voice.

  • I thought that stupid and ridiculous productions were only a staple of German theaters, but I was mistaken!

Wonderful singing despite the stupid regie.
