HAHA the guy narrating sounds like the guy from the movie "STRANG WILDERNESS" haha "The fact is that fewer pepole have been killed by bears than in world war 1 and world war 2 combined"
lmfao you're an idiot...Subaru's can take up to 27psi on a stock turbo with stock internals without a problem. POS Subaru? I think you're just another pissed off domestic owner that got raped by an import.
@dc4integrajdm Idiot? Did you do a search on this site? Just type Subaru+rod knock. You'll be shocked at the huge number of Rob Bearing failures. The last time an engine was so crappy, was the old Dodge 2.7 v6. Subaru will make history for having one of the highest engine failure rate in recent history. I drove imports for over 20 years... but I'll never waste cash on a Subaru knowing how fast they their engines fail.
Oh no, you're definitely right...you know my aunt and uncles WRX with 170k on it and never had any mechanical problems...same with my friends 2.5 RS with 200k on it...oh what do you know still no mechanical problems, oh and lets not forget my friends STi...oh wait if I recall correctly 120k on it......and no mechanical problems.
@dc4integrajdm I had friends in the 80 putting 200k on Dodge Omie and K cars. I did put 300k on a 91 Hyundai Excel..... They were exception but not the rule..... Do you live in southern US? Subaru's have the worse lub system ever built.... and sub zero starts will destroy them very fast.... Do a search on this site.... and then come back to tell me that Subaru isn't the enigine with the most reported cases of Rod Knock.....
I live in Northeastern Kansas...the low this morning was 15. I don't think cold as anything to do with it. I keep wondering why it's so hard to find an STi around Kansas City? Hmmm could it be because they're so reliable!?
@dc4integrajdm Reliable? Do you just know how many 100s of Rod Knock videos of Subaru, especially STI there are on this site? Are you saying they are all fake? Of it's just coincidence? Oh I see, it doesn consider the 1000 of "reliable" Subaru out there. They are hard ti find because people KNOW what they are like and don't buy them.... Christ, Subaru had to halt all sales of STI in 2008 because of constant engine failures...
In all honesty, I found 4 knock videos, all of them had to do with driver ignorance. For example one was because the 2010 STi's are famous for oil consumption and the driver failed to check his fluid which caused rod knock, the other was for the same issue, I think I found one case of undiagnosed rod knock and the guy admitted to running the piss out of it and shifting late. That being said, you have no argument.
@dc4integrajdm Don't BS me. There's over 100 videos of Subaru Rod Knock, ranging ffron 2001 to 2009. The worst year was 2008 (with the most videos). The only other car with as mush Rod Knock videos is the Chrysler 2.7 v6. The problem got so bad that Subaru temporarely stoped all sales of STI in 2008 since countless cars came back with rod knock after less than 5k. It was so bad that they built a long block as replacement. Get your head off your ass... This is the worse engine in modern History.
@guyd37 You're just another dumb ignorant domestic owner. There is no statistics saying anything about rod knock on Subaru's flat 4. You're a complete idiot, the worst car ever made statistically all around is the Cadillac Catera, look it up, read about it, and don't waist your domestic dumb ass time responding back because I don't want to hear it.
@dc4integrajdm You must be retarded.... Did you do a research on this site? Fucking idiot.... search: subaru+rod knock on this site. There's at least 100 video. Check with Subaru; they did stop all sales on STI in 2008 due to premature engine failure. They had to come with a long block as a replacement for warranty claims. This is fact.... idiot...
Oh, you're so right because youtube is definitely the source I'd absolutely love to site on a college paper for research. Lmfao you're an idiot...look up any other car + rod knock, you'll get the same result. You people just don't know when to shut your fucking mouth.
@dc4integrajdm Did you fucking heard me say youtube was the source of everything? WTF is your peoblem? Mental retardation? If you think over 100 people have time to post fake videos.... The only car with as many Rod Knock Videos is the Chrysler 2,7 V6. And do you have to say about Subaru halting sales of all WRX in 2008? Oh, they did it for fun,.,,, fucking retard....
@guyd37 I get it.... you're a 20 y/o stupid kid.... who think he knows everything and seen it all.... I bought my first car 12 years before you were fucking born.... idiot....
Actually they switched to the long block due to switching to a different body style and they wanted to "accommodate" the wider body with a long block and more hp, even though it did weigh less than previous STi's. There's your little fun fact for the day. :)
@dc4integrajdm They have an awesome Marketing department! That was a good BS reason rather than admit that the previous block cost them milions in waranty claims. Very clever!
@guyd37 Actually, if you will go back and check with what the actual problem was with the subaru sti motors in 2007 and 2008 you would see that it was with the ecu tuning. Even now they are using the same engine design and internals and with an updated ecu tuning there are no problems. You can thank the US emmisions regulations for causing the problem in the first place not the design...
@cdoliver This has been going on since 2002 with most Subaru models. It was still going on in 2009. And yes, the block was redesigned. They have a long block now. It peaked in 2008 with the STI and the ECU mapping made an existing problem way worse to the point where STI sales were temporarely stopped. This has been a serious problem for almost a decade....
@ace28233 nope pretty sure I'm right. I've been on both dynos and the dynojet reads higher than a mustang dyno. I've been on both dynos, but like I said, it all depends how the dyno was loaded and whether or not the cf was changed from 1.0. In the end it's just a tuning tool.
@drbos That makes me laugh too haha People always ask why my car only has a few more horsepower than stock with all the parts I have on it and I have to explain it to them haha
pfffft Mustang? get it off the road. These Sti's would murder a Mustang in a straight line whoever said their rust bucket mustang could take the new Sti EPIC FAIL!!!!
@ph00ny1 real STI drivers don't drive in straight lines because REAL STI drivers know that only idiots think it's saying something when you can drive fast STRAIGHT. REAL drivers drive fast around turns
@akotr3mor yeah but i mean on the streets really? straight line is the only mildly safe thing you can do on the streets. even then. thats why straight line street cars are better.
@Schutzstaffel23 oh that's right...i completely forgot that all roads in the world are perfectly STRAIGHT, that there are no intersections to turn, or windy country roads to drive on. Gimme a break...straight line cars are good for STRAIGHT lines but that's in...hence they are INFERIOR
@akotr3mor reread my comment i guess. i dont think you got what im saying. you never get a chance to really pass someone up on a corner without possibly causing a wreck. get it?
you say u hate domestics, then you say you love mustangs.contradiction. what you dont like american cars cause they cant handle? whatever domestics lack in handling, imports lack in speed. put $1200 into the suspension of a mustang then put $1200 under the engine of the STI, AND SEE IF THE MUSTANG LOSES
@KiaOn10s the mustang will lose. because the subaru is AWD and also comes with a costom tuned suspension built only for sti's. along with brembo brakes. something a mustang doesnt have. an sti will tear apart a mustang on any road. even on straight aways it will tear it up.
thats fine dude, agree to dis agree. subarus have shorter gears than the mustang, cause its meant to be a rally racing car. also, AWD hurts performance in the long run cause power has to go to all four wheels, instead of just two. and also turbo and supercharged cars are slower than a n/a engine cause the turbo makes the engine so much hotter. but whatever think what you want
@KiaOn10s awd allows better acceleration because all 4 wheels are driving, rather than just 2, and turbo/supercharged cars are generally faster than NA cus, although they do increase the temp in the engine bay, they usually create a lot more horsepower so it offsets the rise in temperatures. Obviously there are exceptions to what i just typed, i'm generalising.
NO SHIT RIGHT! those wrxs are slow, in fact even slower in the long run than an acura rsx- s. my boy has an 07 wrx, 5 spd manual. i have an auto Lincoln LS which went neck and neck with him on the highway, but ya he smoked me off the line bigtime cause its AWD
At the first time, i thought this was the ugliest impreza.. But after 2 years, it feels like the design grows on me. I love it.. and the STi is the way to go, other models like the WRX and the 2.5 Std are not really good looking without that bulging fender.
Besides a land and sea dyno, mustangs are one of the more accurate dynos out there when loaded correctly. If you like inflated numbers, that's what a dynojet is for. Mustangs are truly a hearbreaker, but it is what it is, and they don't suck.
@2nd2none Sorry bro but you have the two dynos backwards. Any tech will tell you Mustang Dynos inflate numbers. Well most will tell you. Cant speak for all.
@Baustinwashere Ohh...He is talking about mustang dyno equipment, i got ur point, but Its like saying that when i buy a pound of tomatoes from whole foods its much heavier than a pound of tomatoes that i get from wallmart... Mustang dyno or any other dyno.....dynamometer or "dyno" for short, is a device for measuring force, moment of force (torque), or power, so it doesnt even matter cz they all measure the same......when i hear dudes like him i ask GOD y u made me a fukin engineer...;)
The torque on the new STI's are through the roof because of the now available variable intake and exhaust timing. Just by remapping you can get 400 ft lbs of torque on stock turbo and exhaust!
You have to tell people you drive the ugliest style of Mustang, do you think anyone is impressed by that? Doesn't it suck to know that all the money you put into your Mustang it will never be anything special to anyone but you? Same with someone who upgrades a CRX! HEY!! WOW!
Everyone knows Mustangs produce gobs of power, my grandmother knows that.
What are you laughing about? You have a CRX...an econo-box car that has no HP or Torque stock...Oh wait...After throwing $10,000 into it you have a car that can be V6 Mustangs in a straight line and that's still only because you have no weight in your car atall (No sound dampening, SRS, ABS or any other modern amenities or safety features)
And besides, even if you have the nicest, fastest Civic or CRX in the world, you still have to tell people it's a CRX...
I just so happen to drive a totally stock 5.0 Mustang. I have put nothing into it at all engine wise and am proud of it! The kids at my school with turbo CRXs and Civics as well as other GENERIC RICERS all have the same look on my face when I tell them that it is stock. They also all have the same look on their face after they get their $10,000 econo-boxes wrecked in every way by my 5.0.
2. No matter how much you put into it, you still have to tell the ladies that you have yes, an econo-box with no interior whatsoever and no low end torque.
3. The only people that look at those cars are other people with Civics and people in disbelief that someone would waste their money on a poorly balanced (frontheavy) chassis.
P.S. A twin turbo kit for my car is $900 shipped on eBay, throw on some drag radial and for about $3,000 I have an 11 second car
@Mpftmead except u wouldnt be able to put the power down unless u had a vastly uprated drivetrain and clutch, as well as having better suspension so the tyres actually grip, and if the kit gives u so much hp that u think it will make ur motor an 11 second car then turbo lag would be the killer
Actually...I'm not saying that Japanese cars are not. They are well made machinery. In fact I am in the market to add another car to my garage and have decided on this one. All I am saying is that out of the box, Civics in them selves are not race cars as most kids seem to think they are!
my friend who owned an 01 mustang GT raced a boosted SI ( 15 psi ) from a 40 roll.
and he got pulled on veryyyy hard. was barely even a race. it doesnt really take much money to make civics fast. you just need to know what you're doing
I can understand that. But let's be real here...90% of kids who drive civics are A. stock except for a crappy muffler and an intake
and
B. Not boosted to 15 PSI (Hell even the STI stock is only boosted to 14.4PSI from what I''ve heard)
So yes, I agree with you, given the right people and a little bit of change you can make a civic go faster than a mustang. However, given the right people and some money it's almost equally easy to do the same to a Mustang.
My condolences to you and yours, yah see...you could have the nicest, fastest civic in the world and have to live with the fact that when someone asks you what car you drive (I.e. girls, people not ages 17-23) you have to tell them it is a Civic to which they will most likely respond "Oh :/ "
Wow, you're actually getting pissed over some POS honda motor (I'm sure you're going to get pissed about that). I'll respond to that using the letters and number RD5. If you "know your shit" you should know what I'm talking about.
i guess rd5 is the crv model but i searched on google and i cant seem to find credible stuff about k20a3 crv(150hp)...it was probably only sold in europe or stg...not in america thats for sure.
that statement is true about anything, if a professional performance enthusiast gets his hands on anything, they can make it fast and strong... wether its a dodge nitro or a chevy astro... the badge shouldnt matter if you know what you are doing.
well i don't, i live in a normal apartment like an ordinary person of my age. its just funny how u think u have a 300 hp Subaru tht u can take on anyone. especially since my car is all i do in my spare time its so modded up, but stock? idk u might beat it
I've only heard of 94 from the pump here. Anyone I've seen who wants to run higher than that runs a Methanol injection setup, E85, or something similar.
it's worth mentioning the grade of fuel used. higher octane levels in fuel increase bhp. Im not too sure what grade is available in America but in England we can get up to 102 octane. our regular is 95 octane.
I understand there is a drop in octane rating because fuel is tested differently. so it is right to say that 91 (US) is similar to our 95 (UK). but you can appreciate that higher octane fuels are better suited for these high compression ratio engines. my question really is does the US get fuel which is equivalent to our 102 RON for these types of cars?
my o5 sti made 330 wheel hp and ran 12.9 in hot weather with intake full exhaust and a ghetto street tune with s-afc at 17psi... point being sti's and evos are highly restricted and slow from the factory
My speed3 with tbe, cai and accessport has more power than that? 241 hp 270 tq at the wheels. It weighs less too. I was thinkin of trading it in for an sti but now I'm leaning towards evox
Peak dyno numbers don't mean every thing when it comes down to rubber on the road. Its called the usable power band. Sure your speed 3 dynos at 270 peak but how wide is your power band? 1000 rpms if your lucky. The sti has a HUGE power band 3000 rpm wide.
i dont think speed 3 power band is that narrow it has turbo also. and 0-60 doesnt matter that much since the sti is awd and speed 3 is fwd of course the sti will b faster
And because ally if people had been wanting the power of a STi with the versitility of a wagon. The hatchback design was perfect because it didn't way a whole lot more and it gave you more versital room.
Just like every other Impreza model though it just takes time getting used to the new looks. Once you see it in a nice set of wheels with a nice drop you can then really appreciate what Subaru has done here.
the reason subaru went to the hatchback is because they knew they would be top competitiors in the wrc. they had no chance with the older model. on the other hand, subaru just droped out of wrc because of sponsor reasons... go figure.
nope not ugly, but a damn hatch. I got an 07 due to the reason of the hatch, wanted to save more money but once I hear they were goin to a hatch, I got an 07, now t has the ring gland issue.
Not bad! 250wtq on a Mustang dyno.. not to shabby. And its stock too. With and exhaust and tune, it would be a monster. Previous STIs with just a turbo back and tune (aka stage 2) typically made 285whp/310tq.
Simple physics..the car has zero inertia, or forward momentum..so even if the straps break the car will not go anywhere as long as the driver (me) knows what to do..

NewGameReleases 1 year ago
@NewGameReleases In this case he does. Mustang dynos are the worst dyno out there. They should have used a dynojet.
Ace28233 1 year ago
@Ace28233
Besides a land and sea dyno, mustangs are one of the more accurate dynos out there when loaded correctly. If you like inflated numbers, that's what a dynojet is for. Mustangs are truly a hearbreaker, but it is what it is, and they don't suck.

Bajamug 2 years ago
Oh my, he DOES drive a Mustang.
Congratulations on being incredibly generic, smug and thrifty!
But hey, at least with $10,000 you could have 800+HP in your Mustang. Not that anyone will respect you for it, that's what you're looking for.
People will do what they want with their money and their possessions, get over it and enjoy the Youtube video.
Bajamug 2 years ago 3

tartloaf 2 years ago 2
What are you laughing about? You have a CRX...an econo-box car that has no HP or Torque stock...Oh wait...After throwing $10,000 into it you have a car that can be V6 Mustangs in a straight line and that's still only because you have no weight in your car atall (No sound dampening, SRS, ABS or any other modern amenities or safety features)
And besides, even if you have the nicest, fastest Civic or CRX in the world, you still have to tell people it's a CRX...
Mpftmead 2 years ago 2
Mpftmead, a CRX with $10,000 in it would probably be running high 11s, low 12s.
What do you drive? I can find people who would laugh at you for driving whatever you drive.
I'm sure whatever you drive is in no way special or unique and it's been done a tens of thousands of times.
You don't see many CRX with $10,000 in engine work.
Bajamug 2 years ago
I just so happen to drive a totally stock 5.0 Mustang. I have put nothing into it at all engine wise and am proud of it! The kids at my school with turbo CRXs and Civics as well as other GENERIC RICERS all have the same look on my face when I tell them that it is stock. They also all have the same look on their face after they get their $10,000 econo-boxes wrecked in every way by my 5.0.
1.Never lost a race to any Honda
Mpftmead 2 years ago
Turn off VTEC and see how slow it is
Mpftmead 2 years ago
@Mpftmead civics cant be that bad, considering they race in the BTCC with no chassis modifications
TheFlight815 1 year ago
@Mpftmead except u wouldnt be able to put the power down unless u had a vastly uprated drivetrain and clutch, as well as having better suspension so the tyres actually grip, and if the kit gives u so much hp that u think it will make ur motor an 11 second car then turbo lag would be the killer
TheFlight815 1 year ago
i can guarantee.. you weren't beating boosted anything in your stock 5.0.
either you're retarded and think those kids civics are boosted.. or.. they cant drive.
10k into a crx to beat v6 mustangs? hahahaha.
whata joke.
another mustang kid who thinks anything that isnt american is slow.
mustangs are like tampons every pussy has one =]
Designed2fail 2 years ago 2
Actually...I'm not saying that Japanese cars are not. They are well made machinery. In fact I am in the market to add another car to my garage and have decided on this one. All I am saying is that out of the box, Civics in them selves are not race cars as most kids seem to think they are!
Cool analogy btw...
Cheers!
Mpftmead 2 years ago
Civic si's are not slow cars.
my friend who owned an 01 mustang GT raced a boosted SI ( 15 psi ) from a 40 roll.
and he got pulled on veryyyy hard. was barely even a race. it doesnt really take much money to make civics fast. you just need to know what you're doing
Designed2fail 2 years ago
I can understand that. But let's be real here...90% of kids who drive civics are A. stock except for a crappy muffler and an intake
and
B. Not boosted to 15 PSI (Hell even the STI stock is only boosted to 14.4PSI from what I''ve heard)
So yes, I agree with you, given the right people and a little bit of change you can make a civic go faster than a mustang. However, given the right people and some money it's almost equally easy to do the same to a Mustang.
Mpftmead 2 years ago
then you havent met that other 10% of kids.
who actually know what they're doing with their hondas.
i have a few friends who have GSR,and k20 swapped civics
all of which.. are not slow cars.
yes. it was running 15 psi. its not like it was a stock turbo.
Designed2fail 2 years ago
My condolences to you and yours, yah see...you could have the nicest, fastest civic in the world and have to live with the fact that when someone asks you what car you drive (I.e. girls, people not ages 17-23) you have to tell them it is a Civic to which they will most likely respond "Oh :/ "

in finland we have only 95, 98 and 99 octane gas. :>
NiiloKaa 2 years ago
In japan, we can pump 98 to 100 as premium gas,
and up to 96 as ordinaly gas.
Some japanese bigger cars by honda or toyota can use lower number ones,
'cause they have anti-knock devices :)
aggressor2 2 years ago
in the US a Premium Gasoline is 93 Octane. Sunoco used to have a 94 but i don't see it anymore, maybe it's just me.
sanremus 2 years ago
I've only heard of 94 from the pump here. Anyone I've seen who wants to run higher than that runs a Methanol injection setup, E85, or something similar.
thebadbrown 2 years ago
it's worth mentioning the grade of fuel used. higher octane levels in fuel increase bhp. Im not too sure what grade is available in America but in England we can get up to 102 octane. our regular is 95 octane.
royalwww 2 years ago
Keep in mind US and UK octane ratings aren't linear. UK octanes are a higher number, but roughly the same fuel burn temperature. Wikipedia it.
thebadbrown 2 years ago
I understand there is a drop in octane rating because fuel is tested differently. so it is right to say that 91 (US) is similar to our 95 (UK). but you can appreciate that higher octane fuels are better suited for these high compression ratio engines. my question really is does the US get fuel which is equivalent to our 102 RON for these types of cars?

my o5 sti made 330 wheel hp and ran 12.9 in hot weather with intake full exhaust and a ghetto street tune with s-afc at 17psi... point being sti's and evos are highly restricted and slow from the factory
Drkadrk 2 years ago
My speed3 with tbe, cai and accessport has more power than that? 241 hp 270 tq at the wheels. It weighs less too. I was thinkin of trading it in for an sti but now I'm leaning towards evox
DigitalminiDV 2 years ago
Peak dyno numbers don't mean every thing when it comes down to rubber on the road. Its called the usable power band. Sure your speed 3 dynos at 270 peak but how wide is your power band? 1000 rpms if your lucky. The sti has a HUGE power band 3000 rpm wide.
the tale is in the tape.
0-60 08 speed 3 stock 5.6 seconds (manufacture)
0-60 08 sti stock 4.7 (manufacture)
Gyzm0 2 years ago
i dont think speed 3 power band is that narrow it has turbo also. and 0-60 doesnt matter that much since the sti is awd and speed 3 is fwd of course the sti will b faster

NorCalN 3 years ago 4
the reason subaru went to the hatchback is because they knew they would be top competitiors in the wrc. they had no chance with the older model. on the other hand, subaru just droped out of wrc because of sponsor reasons... go figure.
