  • I tried this recipe this weekend. it was very close but there was to much of something. I dont know if it was the ginger or 5 spice. Something really stood out to much. Thanks though.

  • @jima5150 Too much ginger or five spice won't kill it. Some recipes use a bit less rice wine may take the edge off. Some add more miso. Certainly a personalized recipe however, this one is an authentic one as I went direct to source for it. cheers! KtC

  • Hey this looks fantastic! I'll have to give this a try soon!

  • @ChuckwagonCowboy A nice recipe for a wicked tasting sauce. Best used for slow cooking but is versatile for a stir-fry too. Thank you Ron, cheers!

  • now who doesnt love or like hoisin sauce ^.^b

  • char sui sauce + seard tuna= fuck yea

  • @ItMightBeAChicken Yeah, really great with the tuna and many other fish to boot. cheers, KtC

  • looks flavorful. thumbs up!!!

  • Is that more for dipping or is it like a rub?

  • @mehquig Ideally used for marinade, then basting and at serving, for dipping. Use as any BBQ sauce. It is often used in variable Chinese type dishes too such as a Char Siu pork stir-fry.

Very yum and a must to try. You can buy it prepared but better homemade. cheers Andy!

  • This is great Kook , almost looks like a lobster sauce recipe with out the pork .... nice...!!!

  • @bowhunter2439 The wings in the char siu pork and wing vid. would go nice as an appetizer for your ribeye :)

  • That looks incredible! I have almost none of the ingredients on hand, but that can be changed. I suspect it could be near lethal as a baste on a slow grilled pork butt.

  • @anmoose Hi Moosie! I just enjoyed the sauce on a pork shoulder on the fire. I refuelled the coals once but just had it the foil thingy at the side. I was enjoying the sauce most of last week. Big Yum!

  • @papercuts777 I got everything at that T&T out on Riverside. I have seen the paste though at Food Basics. The recipe does make a large batch so there is enough for next time too. Thanks cuts! KtC

  • is there any substitute to the rice wine?

  • @ArynneVengeance Hi Arynne! You could substitute the rice wine with a dry sherry, white wine or gin. If your concern is with alcohol then use white grape juice or apple juice. Rice wine vinegar can also be used. cheers, KtC

  • Love it...Chef EV

  • @Evercook71 Thanks ChefEV! Certainly a tasty one. Going to try slow and low on pork shoulder tomorrow. Have a great day! KtC

  • @ziakas420 Very tasty stuff indeed. I made ribs too that day and everything was gone in no time. Need a bigger fence to keep the neighbors out :D KtC

  • excellance as always, wish i was close enuff for a taste taste!!

  • @psychodelicdragon I suppose other than an airplane ride you will have to make some for yourself lol However, if you decide on the airplane ride I will pick you up at the airport and crank up the BBQ right away. cheers! KtC

  • @pandmonium2k7 Today! Have to try now! :D cheers Gary! KtC

  • The master of sauces.

  • @Jordcuk The sauce is so good. Either used for slow and low basting or just a quick grilling. Can't get enough char siu lately. Thanks you! KtC

  • Nice looking sauce / marinade, and Cuppy's cousin took center stage at the end.

  • @KasCooks The bowl was looking lonely up in the cupboard so I asked him to join us for the finale. Thank you Kas! Have a great day and keep kooking! KtC

  • Wow. Going to give this a try this weekend!!! Going to check out your pork and wings~Thanks for sharing your great recipes!

  • @cindadee The sauce alone is so veratile it required it's own vid. Enjoy the pork and wings! KtC

  • now i have all

  • @escafallen lol yep, I thought two vids were required for this this combo. Such a favourite sauce of mine I could just film char siu BBQ all the time. enjoy! KtC

  • omg thats like the best sauce ever :D

  • @fezan84 I really enjoy it. Took some time to get a correct recipe though as too many screw around with food colouring (yuk). Direct from the source htis one. Thank you and cheers, KtC
