  • "...servants, basically...."

I like funnin' with carhops, myself. I tell 'em they can drop the act and give me their real chances on the Cardinals in the pennant race.

Agreed, those eager "stealth" coffee refillers are extremely irritating. "No, I would rather finish the third of a cup I still have, so I DON'T HAVE TO RE-ADJUST THE SUGAR AND THE CREAM YET AGAIN A SECOND TIME, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

    Are you single? Between careers?

  • I would never work at this asshole's restaurant. He sounds like a perfectionist prick. Maybe he should just consider hiring robots. He can train them to bend over and take it too.

  • If your date is nice to you and rube to the waiter, they are not a nice person... words of wisdom handed down from Dad... also said the tip is part of the bill, if you can't afford the tip you can't afford the meal.

    Peace

  • Don't upset the Elite gods while they consuming.

  • Sounds like my training at TGI Fridays store number 100 in Aventura, Florida. Forgot to mention to keep up with who sweetens coffee and tea so you won't fill them up until they are empty because it is annoying to try keep the same level of sweetness if filled too much.

  • phuckery4you1958: ha...oh, sure...got to keep things nice and balanced, don't we? :)

  • Would you like me to lick your boots while you eat your appetizer sir/madam?

  • Ella, could you please make your video viewable for mobile??

I watch all of your videos, but I recently got a mobile device for inteenet browsimg away from home.

    Thanks!!!

  • bootme21: I'll have to check into further, regarding the mobile thing. It involves some type of syndication process, something I'm not keen on doing. Anyway, thanks for watching :)

  • Yes this is what's in store for everyone who works for a living. For the folks who think slavery was abolished in this country, if you're working for minimum wage you are a slave. The rest of us working stiffs are headed there.

  • Thank you Ella. Might I add that it will remain to be seen whether their strategy will work out this time...

  • On a side note,

The chief executive of Goldman Sachs, Lloyd Blankfein, believes banks serve a social purpose and are doing "God's work." The dominant Wall Street bank posted third-quarter earnings of $3 billion and plans to hand out more than $20 billion in year-end bonuses

  • Ella, I get what your saying. If the NY times were "liberal" the piece would have been about Unionizing the "servants".

  • Sounds like slavery 101.

  • I've waited tables, and I agree with some of the things on this list, disagree with others.

The main thing I disagree with is that this was printed in a newspaper. It has no place in the news. None.

  • do not go "Postal" in the restaurant, lol.

  • I've worked for the upper echelon in the past and they all expect to be treated like the Queen of England Yes sir very good sir still works well with that crowd

  • So, what's your point?

Do you prefer to go home without tip on a short run and with the restaurant out of business in the end?

Do you, stupid whore, want to be fucked for money, but be called a princess?

I have an advise for you: write the word "princess" on your name tag and don't forget the A1, bitch!

  • As someone who has been a waiter in various restaurants in many states I think the point is don't lock your employees into a one size fits all scenario that does not fit everyone. A good waiter can read their customers and make them happy. I used to have to try to sell Amish people alcoholic beverages. If I could not sell them alcohol I would get called onto the carpet as to what was wrong with my sales approach. What do you think that did to my tips?

  • GetLostInCompost: hmmm, a bit over the top, your comment, don't you think? Before you start throwing insults at people, you may want to check out their prior vids - to see where they are coming from overall. Some of the stuff on your channel is actually quite interesting + I'm in agreement with it. So my advice to you: never hit the comment button too prematurely.

  • The elite will probably quote the meek shall inherit the earth, one word especially if your a conservative (suckerd)

  • Two words..

    Gosford Park.

  • Jesus says if you wanna be great in Gods kingdom be a servant of all ( of course use your head ) Do everything in love.

  • Servants or slaves ? Always smile or else.

    Gps tracking gets me.

Big Media Has control, and are being controlled even more.thats my take.

I stop watching tv some time back and read more views out of this country then in it. they all have some spin added but ours is the worst.

    Peace, Ella =)

  • I prefer the term indentured servants myself. But to be honest society is growing increasingly depressing in the effort to squeeze people into either the haves or the have nots. Everyone complains about it without thinking as to the root causes or even why it's happening. Money is power, and thus those who have it want even more of it. For them to have more of it then the general population has to have less of it. We're slowly reverting to the dark ages again.

    *le sigh*

  • This is basic training to even work in a diner.

  • so why is it in the new york times lol

  • Couldn't tell ya,but all this stuff is common knowledge/sense in the food industry. Unfortunately, common sense isn't all that common. ;) It used to be just for high end establishments, then it spread to commercial, then to 'mom and pop'/greasy spoon type establishments. I'm sure you've heard 'the customers always right',well this just takes it to a higher level of ass kissing. Like the level wasn't high enough at $2.13 an hr, and when depending on tips, not your pay,it's a given.

  • I work as an IT professional and work under similar rules, but it's called customer service, meeting expectations and meeting your SLA (Service Level Agreement). I've noticed that 'salary' is lexically similar to 'slavery'. There is no 'coffee break' any more. If you take too many sick days you'll be asked to use vacation days instead. Quite different than 30 years ago.

  • Since we will soon be servants to the elite class this could just be thought of as the rules of citizenship.

  • Very telling Ella, thanks.

  • I worked in a restaurant where the servers had to get down on one knee and pretty much be eye level or lower w/ the guests when they took their orders.

Interesting article to say the least.
