• This speed is nothing - if you were splitting like this in London you'd have half a dozen couriers behind you wishing you'd stop riding like an old granny and would hurry up. By the way, splitting past a car that is already signaling a lane change (2:31) is just asking to get taken out.

  • @dje71 Thanks big guy. I welcome the opinion.

  • Why is it illegal in US?? What is wrong with using whole lane and squeezing car and bike at once??

  • The rider in this video is an idiot. This is the problem I noticed after moving from SF to SoCal: When you split lanes, you do it in between the fast lane and second to fast lane ONLY. People in northern California get it, but I see people down here do it in every lane, some times even between the exit lane and lane to the left, where everybody is changing lanes. I guess there are just more people who want to ride for image down here. feel free to learn what your doing before you endanger others

  • @nicpaul You don't know what you're talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @mikelanzaro No,sir, it is you, in fact, that lacks the knowledge in your riding.

  • @nicpaul I would agree with you if you said I was not splitting lanes at a safe speed. But you're not saying that. The law does not restrict lane splitting between the 1st and 2nd. lanes.

  • hilarious. hope a big fine goes with it.

  • What camera did you use to film this?

  • @GustavCassidy Canon powershot (older cheap one)

  • the people who dislike this are douches

  • What camera are you using? the quality here is exceptional. I'd like to get one on my fz6 for my morning commute from Sunland to Torrance. It's a brutal ride, I'd like to have a cam in case the unspeakable happens....again. Luckily when the idiot into me, not only was he making an illegal sudden lane change, not only was I not splitting lanes, but I also have a witness who was behind me that can verify my story.

  • hell yeah know all about ridin through traffic in houston bro good skills

  • @mikelanzaro you sure as hell have bigger balls than I!

  • this is why i LOVE california. . . . .

  • this guy is average about 35mph in mid-day LA traffic on the 10E. Not bad. It took him 9.5min to travel about 5.5mi (Just past National to about the Western/Normandie exit).

It would take me nearly twice that by car. I travel that route pretty often.

  • @MinusLULZ Lane splitting is not legal? What state are you in?

  • @MinusLULZ fuck you dick. Just cause you have to sit in traffic and don't have the balls to ride a bike. Lane splitting is VERY legal in L.A

  • 1:47. What a dick.

  • you lane split very slow , some times i get up to 80 Kmph/49 mph.

  • @355casio That'd be when it becomes unsafe.

  • @355casio you're cool.

  • i have a 120cc bike, better suit for lane splitting bcoz of its small size. And I can maintain the speed around 80 kmh (50 mph) when splitting..love it

  • You know if even half of these ppl drove bike the traffic would be so much better Like 99.9% of this ppl dont need a car a bike would do just fine

  • great riding. youre a maniac!

  • man just watched the 2X version and this is a lot slower than i thought it was going to be. but at least you do it the right way!!!

  • 5WGC807 = assh0le in the Chevy SUV holding you back... stupid b1tch!

  • when you split lanes, do you normally have to pull your mirrors in?

  • Wow! Man I have never seen traffic on the 10 East that bad.

  • @adogg619 at rush hour, all the time. I usually take the streets at this time......less stressful

  • come to germany, here you can drive full speed on highways ;)

this video is better than the fast

  • sorry man...I hope you get time to enjoy a ride now & then..instead of this crap. peace

  • 1:45 I really hate these kind of assholes that wouldn't even try to move over just a little bit.

  • yeah, normal speed video is much better than the double speed video.

  • Been in LA 4 years and now seriously considering getting a bike because I get so jealous of you guys lane splitting when I'm stuck in 2 mph traffic.

  • I would like to apologize for posting SQUID on your other video(wasn't aware you speed that one up).

  • I'm glad you posted the regular speed version because the double speed version made it sound like you ride like a tool lol! Oh - and I would have popped the mirror on that black SUV @1:48 - what a dick.

  • I've watched this video many times. You're very good at planning your movements in advance and if everyone was this skilled and patient we would be able to lanesplit in Michigan legally. I do it illegally but only when traffic is stopped... Don't want to surprise anyone!

  • you mean to tell me this is your job...i am fucking envious dude. keep the rubber on the ground and the plastic in the air and keep ridin man

  • Must be nice... that's one of the benefits of a)living in California where it's legal and b) having a sport bike. I'm on a Harley so I'd be taking out mirrors left and right... LOL Here in Vegas, lane splitting is VERY illegal, so if I get the urge, I just take the shoulder lane... fuck it: illegal is illegal.... LMAO

  • nice splitting.. looks like u arent one of those jackasses going between with a 50mph difference ;p

  • This is extreme lane splitting.

  • what kinda camera are u using?

  • Wow, You're really kickin some traffic ass!

  • Judas Priest! This person has a death wish.

  • Holy crap. I saw ur other vid first & thought "Damn he's on a turbo charged bike or something & going hella fast!". Then I saw this vid. hahaha. This seems more sane to me. hahahaha.

  • at 4:00 min is that the popo on the left?

  • This is more like it. I watched your other video not realizing it was sped up and about wet myself. I was gonna call and take out a million dollar insurance policy on you since it would only be a matter of time!

  • Split the #1 and #2 lanes, you poser!

  • exactly. You'll eventually eat it where you are splitting.

  • Ahhh, the 10 East freeway... brings back memories of commutes from my old job.

  • MAN I love lane splitting. It's just so much fun.

  • Haha, yh thought the other was a bit quick.

  • haha same, I was like, "damnnn, that thing is fast off the line." 0 to 60 in about 1.5 seconds haha.

  • hahah i saw ur other 1.... and thought wow this guy is awesome!... then i watched it again and saw it was fast forward.... still a good vid

  • saw the unbelievably faster version first....

    now I see lol

  • How do you have your camera mounted? Also, are motorcycles allowed in the HOV lane in CA?

  • Yes, motorcycles are allowed to legally ride in carpool lanes in California. Wish more people knew that instead of trying to run us out of 'em thinkin' we're breakin' the law.

Sorry... not impressed with your riding. But thanks for given the rest of us out there a bad rep!

  • haha the other version is so much better

  • What are you riding? A 49cc scooter? My granny would overtake you in a bmx! :)

  • this is actually a very responsible lane splitter. i ride like a bat outta hell doin this shit in La. its like a human version of the game frogger. also i wouldve at least smacked that suburbans fuckin mirror against the window. what a dickhead

  • I watched this and it felt like what I go through too. Whats the name of those damn lane bumps? I hate that, but I guess I'm used to it too.

  • I cut my time to work in half by lane splitting. Love it.

  • I lost count of how many people want to kick your ass..... Cool vid though.

  • Eastbound on the 10.

    Started near Overland Ave ramp.

Ended just past Crenshaw Blvd exit.

  • Nice ride mate ... I save 30 - 40 minutes a day splitting lanes on the way home each day.

Driver behavior looks much the same as here in Australia ... the only thing I don't like is splitting between trucks and / or buses although they usually hold a pretty straight line.

  • fuckin prick in the suburban at 1:45. i live in washington and can't wait till my next cali trip to try some lane splittin. looks like fun

  • Wow dog, you trust cagers more than I do. Ever have one open a door on you or make a sudden lane change or intentionally try to pinch you?

  • I split all the time on the Bay Bridge, and most cagers are pretty cool with it. Some even make extra room for you.

  • what's a cager?

  • lol A term that bikers/motorcyclists call people that drive cars. Something about traveling around in a cage.

  • yeah i have been watching motorcycle vids since this one and i figured out what it was

  • Good for you! Now please watch out for us when you are driving. We REALLY appreciate it! :D

  • lol i do. not to many bikes around where i live, but when i see them i just get out of the way

  • ok i found the slow speed but it still looks cool, dangerous 4sure, but still a cool way to pay the bills!!!

  • I first watched the sped up one and was like holy shit that guys going to kill himself. But then i saw this one and it's about the same speed i split at.

  • I love how cagers get all jealous about lanesplitting. IT'S A BIKE, NOT A CAR. It's SAFER to lanesplit than to sit in traffic like an idiot. If only more states would wake up and legalize lanesplitting.

  • wooo i drive trough this area all the time

  • In Southern Calfornia Motorcycles are more practical than cars, lane splitting is the shit!

  • its still dumb

  • what is the name of motorcycle what you are driving in that film??

  • I'm riding my 2000 Kawasaki ZR7. It's a 750 with stock quiet muffler.

  • Oh ok...that's why it sounded like a scotter.

Very entertaining video, I felt like I was was driving through LA.

  • on some of the really tight splits like between two big trucks, how much space do you estimate you have on either side before you scrape their door?

  • I'd say about 3 inches

  • do you get a little nervous on the tight ones like that?

  • is this illegal in louisiana? bc i live there and im hoping to buy a bike soon but idk... i want a hog but it wouldnt be able to maneuver as easily as a little crotch rocket like what he has [no offense]

  • wow, you are my hero :D

    right after gr :P

  • Stop whining. Legal and even safe.

  • just wait til some moron opens the car door to dump out the coffee mug and the lane splitter get his skull split on the highway

  • So the guy gets a felony assault charge, not gonna happen, period.

  • hey, where is this psycho going? From Dallas to Seattle?

I wonder is bike-messengers present videos like this as their portfolios when looking for jobs.

  • LA drivers all suck so you cant tell if one is good or bad. They all suck the same.

  • I lane split no matter what state I'm in. It pisses some people off but who cares

  • But at least you seem to be going relatively slow... 35mph? You could still get banged up pretty good, but at least you have more time to react at that slower speed. It's the idiots that do it at 80 that are just begging to become roadkill. Keep it safe!

  • @PeteSzerszen Getting knocked off your bike and then getting run over a few times is still going to hurt.

  • Yeah, I used to do this shit too on my Katana, but messed myself up on my bike last summer. Makes me think twice bout that shit now. Reality check when you hit the pavement bro...

  • been there several times. Been doing this 10 years

  • You should split on the lanes closer to the center divider. Less of a chance a car will jump across lanes. Cheers!

  • Lane splitting is retarded and should be illegal like it is in most states. If you want the video closely you will see that almost every time the rider approaches a car from the rear, the cars driver taps the brakes to slow down when the driver sees the rider which only further slows the flow of traffic. Not to mention the potential wrecks that could occur from this.

  • Lane splitting is brilliant and should be legal in states where people know how to drive. California has the best drivers in the country.

Everyone here moves and weaves like clockwork. And us bikers love it. Thank you California drivers!!

  • Maybe so but California has some of the worst roads I have ever driven on. Traffic planning is horrible in LA. I travel all over the country and with the exception of Atlanta, LA has some of the worst traffic. I do see how lane splitting is a good alternative, but you certainly must be a good rider. It sucks that people try to box you in.

  • Yeah, the roads kinda suck sometimes.

All my riding buddies brag about how they hit peoples mirrors or kick their cars when they squeeze them off. I think that's the stupidest thing to do. In my experience people don't mean to do it. They don't see you most of the time.

  • I agree with you on the part about lane splitting. But I also live in the LA area and CA has the WORST drivers

  • yeah i dunno man. cali has some stupid ass drivers

  • NO. The BEST drivers. Try going to other cities. I've lived all over the U.S.

  • California drivers best in the country? Put them in 5 cm of snow and watch the death toll climb.

  • & who cares about cager traffic, we're on bikes!

  • & who cares about cager traffic, we're on bikes!

  • You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Lane splitting would be nice here in Northern Virginia some times.

  • that bike sounds fucked

  • sure does, doesn't it?

  • it's like you're running on metal shavings.

  • What motorcycle do you use????????????

  • 2000 ZR7

  • i like when hes stuck between the black truck and the black car. hahaha NICE 1

  • Do that around here and your liable to have your lane cut down

  • hey gsrteggie, where is "here" big guy? Fairyland?

  • yeah, that's why I do it around here.

  • Hey choiboy16, take a pill you little snot nose punk. :)

  • I'm guessing you are one of the douche bags that make states against this. Going 90 while lane splitting is stupid. Making bad splits is stupid. If people were more sensible like the OP then it would be legal in more places.

  • lol i usually pretend to switch lanes to teach them a lesson :D

  • why would it be illegal anywhere? dont people buy motorbikes so they can cut through all the traffic and get through rush hour traffic quicker than in a car?

  • he's a good rider and it's nice to see no one doing anything stupid in front of him

  • The Hurt Report, published in 1981 and based on accident data gathered in the 1970's, concluded that lane splitting reduces rear end crashes and improves motorcycle safety.

  • I recently drove through that in a moving truck. Wish I was on a bike...

  • thats one way around traffic.. i doubt he would be cited.. can the cops even catch up to him??

  • It's legal in the state of California as long as it's done safely (which is open to interpretation by the cop)

  • Actually, oddly enough it isn't legal, it's just not illegal :P, interesting little loophole. Nice riding, no stupid shit, just nice an easy.

  • no i dont think he would have been cited

  • Bunch of grouches, that was wonderful to watch. He was going fast enough that the drivers in front of him didn't have time for a rash reaction. There were a couple of close calls that made me cringe, but otherwise that looked like a f*ck of a lot of fun.

    Simple traffic management.

  • it's pretty annoying every time he hits one of those reflectors

  • He started from just after the Overland on-ramp on the Santa Monica freeway going eastbound. There's no HOV lane on this section of the 10 freeway. I agree woth etyer that splitting the 1-2 lanes is better. No trucks (they are required by law to stay in the righ two lanes) and drivers in the #1 lane can move over more easily (if they wish to -- I always give a little "thank you" wave if they do)

  • Most lane splitters do so inbetween the 1 & 2 lanes, not 3 & 4. There are less lane changing cars. Also, there is no car pool lane on I-10. Lastly, he passed me! I am in the green Mercedes at 0:20. Weird.

  • Just a matter of time, b-4 he wrecks.

  • i was hoping someone was gonna be like monty hall and show him whats behind door NUMBER ONE.

  • The American ghostrider.

  • WHAAAA WHAAAAA!!! Higher insurance rates!!! WHAAAAAAA!!!

  • ATTN! This is actually Legal in cali. Traffic is so bad that the state has made special rules for bikes to help quicken the flow.

  • Actually it's not that it's legal in CA, it's that it's not illegal. CA has no special rules, it's just that there are no laws in the books that deal with lane splitting. However an officer can get you for unsafe speeds and/or reckless driving if you're splitting lanes in a stupid manner.

  • This guy is probably a newer rider since more experienced riders split the far left lane and not the slow lane. Check out the far left lanes. Fewer cars and bigger spaces. He either kept right out of stupidity or to deliberately be riding in the thick of the cars for the sake of video.

  • On that freeway, the far left lane is a carpool lane and there is a double yellow sepperating it from the rest of the freeway.

  • Now that you mention it, I can see the carpool lane just barely. Still, this guy would have been smarter for being in that lane completely or splitting between the fast lane and middle lane.

  • Its been shown in California that lane splitting is safer than staying in the traffic. The only time this motorcyclist was in real danger was when that black suv and the mustang tried to wedge him in.

  • Are you threatening him? How would an accident caused by him cause your insurance rates to increase? No. I think you're an idiot and you're jealous.

  • being from the midwest I'd never seen this before. First time I was in traffic in san fran I about jumped out of my skin when someone whipped by between me. Then I was worried I'd not be payin attention and jump and whack someone. That was several years ago now I see how cool it is but yeah, reaction time ftw.

  • Great Example of the joys of lane splitting. Beware. Don't try it when fatigued because you need all your reactions at their best. And beware of oblivious CELL PHONE users. Seems like the Mustang driver was on the cell phone.

  • Cancer in your prostate for a bigger win! Karma sucks.

  • aaand you're a moron who takes themself waay too seriously

  • Manslaughter charges for you. It's also illegal to open your door on the freeway, so it would actually be murder.

  • you are an idiot.. get over yourself

  • At least that mustang owner got the hint eventually and moved over a bit so you could get by.

(look at my username, such an unfair bias to that statement ((Mustangs rock too.))

  • Sorry folks, I lived in London for two years, this is no big deal everyday there. Take the 211 or the 315 down near Twickenham for Rugby and it's insane. No reason for lines on the street there.

  • This is basically my drive to work every day. I'm surprised I'm not in the vid, actually.

  • obviously not a rider are ya.

  • Maybe those people should stop eating or talking on their phones and look over their shoulder when they merge? They would see he had the right away.

  • It's legal in California, and studies actually show lane spliting REDUCES accidents.

    You fail.

  • Looks like decent safe splitting with negative comments from those who don't know better. What they don't understand is that by keeping moving you are in control and can react to what happens in front of you, but by taking a place behind a car in commuter traffic, you have a very high chance of being rear ended and crushed between the car in front and behind you as rear ender accidents in traffic are the majority of commuter collisions.

  • You, my friend, have balls. I like balls.

  • I bet you do squirrel boy.

  • COMPLETELY missed the reference.

  • Uhh.. matthewlking, you might want to check California law before you show your ignorance.

Can motorcycle riders "split" lanes and ride between other vehicles?

Lane splitting by motorcycles is permissible but must be done in a safe and prudent manner.

    The more you know...
