  • Nice tutorial. im not really new to Ableton but i do have a question. How do you stay focused when your making a track, so far ive had so many ideas that i start, but suddenly halfway through ill lose all inspiration for them and they get left by the wayside. do you have any tip for staying focused when working?

  • @Ikarimakesmusic Its a common problem and a question that we've all asked before. I would suggest not frowning upon every "half-idea", instead - just click and drag the idea into the left hand folder for later use. Seperating "music making time" and "sound-creation-fuckabout" time is also advantageous, I find. Hope that helps. ET

  • how do you actually preview the sounds?! I can't hear anything

  • @GeetarGuy101 As I said in the video- Arm the the track, click the keyboard icon (top right) and use your PC keyboard. :/

  • Awesome tutorial, learned a few useful things I didn't know :) My only issue/question I have (and this is with all of your tutorials) Is that I never know whether or not an instrument you use comes with Ableton Live 8 or Solely with Ableton Suite. Like the "Operator" you use so much..it's only available in Suite. But It took quite a while for me to figure that out. I would love it if you could differentiate between which instruments come with whatever version of Live. Thanks!

  • what button do i press to change my octave on my keyboard? thanks

  • @domeskeetz Z & X

  • should explain myself better @HowToAbleton when i rec my first clip (drums of two different loops) then when i rec my bassline it recs over the top of the first loop .what the hell am i doin wrong? my heads rec'd lol. thanks

  • @riseup20twelve You have to make a new audio track for each instrument you want to record.

  • @HowToAbleton but they are both midi tracks both bass n drums? thanks for replying so quick mate

  • @riseup20twelve In that case you have to make a new midi* track for each instrument you want to record. Experiment with the OVR (overdub) button and remember you can always undo mistakes. yw

  • @HowToAbleton ah up n running..thanks mate, teething troubles lol

  • I know this is basic basic stuff HTA but how do you then record the 2 together.. thanks for this btw :)

  • Hey so Im running 8.2 on a laptop but when I saved and ported the file over to the desktop it didn't work right what did I do wrong?

  • @ldteplit There's gonna be a tutorial on how to export projects coming within 24 hours.

  • erm, how do you play the thing on the bottom, in your case operator? I hit space but nothing happens and stuff.

  • @Xiverture You need to draw in a MIDI pattern.

  • Why not 1 tutorial shows how to get track bpms??

  • What version of ableton is this? Does it matter, or are all the versions similar?

  • @MrSaltyChristian This is Ableton Suite 8.2.Not all versions of Ableton are the same...for example; Ableton lite not have the same features as Ableton Suite. -HTA

  • Cool video.Iv been making music for just over a year but only recently switched to Live 8 from Reason 5.Id like to know more about using clips in a live set using just Ableton and clips, so as no two performaces are the same.

  • @Funkmastabuzz There will be a video up about that shortly so keep an eye out.
