this was the first time i remember hearing about a hurricane... i remember seeing hotels and businesses still under reconstruction in myrtle beach when we vacationed there in april 1991....a full year and a half after hugo hit...
I remember being on watch while in school at Camp Lejeune. We were given a radio, I took cover in a 5 ton truck and the wind blew so hard I thought I was going to tip over. It was kinda fun.
Driving down the four lane major highway, I saw a bathtub entangled in a fence on the side of the road. It's not THAT the wind is blowing....it's WHAT the wind is blowing.
I remember going to Sumter SC the day after and the National Guard was all over the place. The hospital had huge windows blown out, no power. Everything was either blown away or shut down. We ran out of gas. Had to stay at a motel for a little bit and the hotel only had water in bathtubs. A nice gas station got a generator and would fill your tank for ten dollars. That was our saving grace.
thanks for posting this should tell every body to take caution.i remember this i was in sav ga.we lost are family car due to te winds it knocked alot of pine trees down, will never forget it
Thanks for sharing this video! I remember Hugo well - the trees snapping, the wind roaring, the house shaking. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant and absolutely terrified.
@goodsandlapper It woke me up about 4:30 am and was pummeling the windows and walls and snapping trees in Albemarle (42 miles from Charlotte or around that distance). I shouldn't have stood so close to the window but it was too exciting to be cautious!
I used to live in Lincoln County, NC actually a small trailer park in Iron Station, NC and we lost power and everything and we stayed at a hotel!! I was really scared.
2:49 The whitest guy ever. LMAO

How many times is he going to say "angry" or "angrier"? o_o. My house stood up to Hugo back in '89, we were in the Lowcountry but I wasn't yet born.
