I've mostly dwindled my expensive knife collection down to the most sentimental pieces too. Still got a few I should get rid of though. Great prep demonstration on the splitwood fire.
I couldnt get a razor edge on my knives either, until I started buffing the edge with a bench grinder with a 6 inch buffing pad, and green compound. just a thought, great vid
Yep that's the way I tap split wood on hard surfaces too. In control and with skill and familiarity with your axe, the risk is essentially nil. Good stuff. I usually wear gloves too - just because. One fine skill tip: If you angle the holding thumb and forefinger down a bit and pinch the log sideways sort of, then if the blade goes deeper it will miss the fingers. :o) I call that there Canadian bacon "pea meal back bacon"! mmmm... Hope you get some snow!
I also use your splitting method Joe, I don't show it on video, because I don't want to deal with all the "correct" comments I will no doubt receive. Good video. Never heard you talk so much lol.
I love listening to you ramble on about things regarding the woods! Your the best joe!
