OMG...I haven't heard the Vegetable Soup song in over 34 years. OMG...I just thought of this after watching the Flintstones. I"m sitting here sharing Vegetable Soup with my 9 year old daughter. I used to watch this on Saturday mornings at 6:30am.
I remember this show when I was a kid in New York City in the 1970s and when I moved to Miami in the 80s when this show was on Saturday mornings on WSVN-NBC 7 in 1982-1987. Great memories!
When "Vegetable Soup" would be going off, this was our cue to leave, to head to school and work every morning. It came on at 6:30am, and when it would go off, we would leave. I remember those drums so very well! I haven't heard this song since the late '70s. Thanks so much for sharing this :)
Not really. Back in the day, though, the imagry was prevailent enough in Pop Culture to be easily used and recognized by freaks and straights alike without any hang-ups. Kinda like being stoned without being stoned.
This was a great theme song....I too loved it back in the 70's and would wake up early just to hear the song....LOL...wow the memories...the show was not bad either...the muppets were a little creepy but I loved how they flew in a balloon like aircraft...I was about 11 or so....thanks for the post
@spooky29 I find this theme song is one of the better ones too... The show featured the voices of James Earl Jones and Bette Midler in certain segments, but not in the theme. I can't seem to find any information on which people are singing the song, but, Wiki says it was composed by the infamous Bob Sakayama.
@jenzeppelin Bob Sakayama was also the composer of a song I remember from elementary school called "Shoeflies". It never made any sense to me, but it stuck to my mind, even after all these years.

Gosh, the 70's rocked. No wonder I'm still stuck there 35 years later.
