  • I remember this song when I was stationed at Chanute AFB, Illinois in 1962. I always put a dime into the juke box before we marched away to tech school.

  • Thanks! Please post more Frankie Miller!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pleassssss! One of the best voices in country. He deserves to be seen & heard as much as possible.

  • wow; this is so exciting to see. i remember this was my brother's favorite song when we were 10 or 11yrs. old. i've looked for it ever since but didn't remember the artist's name. thanks for posting this. my brother died when he was only 23. i miss him so much and it feels so good to hear this song.

  • Like everyone else said, Thanks for sharing!! Very cool peice of history. It's the real thing.

  • Many Many THANKS for posting !!!!!

  • This is a great song, and I like Frankie's version of HIS SONG. However, life and my personal taste has me enjoying the great Frankie Laine doing this tune. I even played it when I was working at KFAT in Gilroy. The song is an absolute American classic.

  • I have this song on an old country album. Always loved both the song and Frankie's voice, has a special place in my heart as I used to listen to it with my ex-fiance, now sadly dead. It brings back such wonderful memories of times that'll never come again.

  • Faron Young sang this song also. I liked his version best. But this guy's ok.

  • It's Frankies song, he wrote it. Faron's version is good too though.

  • Ahhhh the memories of dancing the night away @ Garner State Park...

  • I remember hearing a remake of this song by none other than Wink Martindale, which was the flipside of his 45 hit Deck of Cards.

  • This song has been danced to for generations at Garner State Park--the most popular state park in Texas. Its jukebox is a Texas legend, and this song is a staple there. Its part of my 40 year history. Thanks so much....its so hard to find Frankie's Blackland Farmer'

  • Bear Family just reissued all of Frankie's Star Day records on CD it's called of course Black Land Farmer and it's great! I've had the pleasure of getting to know him and he's a sweet guy as well as a great artist.

  • I have a similar Garner history. My wife and I last went there in June of 2006 to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversity. We even met Frankie at a live performance. In January we had reservations to spend a couple of nights there. Three generations were to go and sing and dance. I'll probably never make it back there. You never know when you have your last dance. Hope you and all the others dance to our song.

  • Loved it! The little bit of reverb was nice too.

  • Great! Thanks Hans!
