About the 6 ball shot at 5:25, it was not NECESSARY to use 4 cushions, it was enough a soft shot using 2 cushions and playing the seven ball in the same corner he did. However, the commentator said " but he knows what he is doing" And if Orcollo felt comfortable playing the four rails shot, it is what matters because he did it well. =)
What the commentator said was that Efren developed top player breaking skills very late and most of the times chooses the soft break. I don't think you 've seen many games of Efren with theese commentators because they always speak about his skills with admiration. About the 6 you 've mentioned before. He could kill the ball which is very difficult or play one rail position or what he did. Bustamante for example would definitely kill the cue ball. So don't judge them so easily because they know
I agree with you stevesp101, they say efren's break is a weakness because it isn't powerful enough! Man that's pure ignorance, the best break is the one that gets you a ball, a shot to the 1 ball and a nice table lay out, not a powerful shot!
these commentators are idiots. orcollo did have to travel 4 rails with the cue on that 6 ball (around 6 minutes) because of the severe cut angle. he was forced into doing that.

@9ballalex righto buddy! one thing I've heard and always listened to is that the right shot is the one you decide to shoot.

They are saying that efren's break is the weakest part of his game! That is the only part of his game that shows any weakness.
One commentator is Jay Helfert, who has one of the most knowledgeable pool minds in the world. He just wrote a book called pool wars. look it up!!
