Jerry Lee and Jeff are twoof the all-time greats, but this performance is pretty lackluster with no energy or fire. The tempo is way too slow. Jeff and the Killer could have really rocked this song right on a different night.
I would've helped Jeff Healey walk to his position and then made him walk a little further - right off the stage! Imagine how funny that would've been :D
@camcoop25 Gosh, Camcoop, you're not steamed, are you? I should hang myself in the public square, I guess, or tell you to go google yourself until you need glasses. Perhaps the comment's buried, (in which case you're partially forgiven) but someone referred to Ronnie Hawkins as Ronnie Hawking. I made a comment about that. I hope you feel bad for being a knob in a public forum. Apology accepted.
Followup comments are always buried on this forum. So it turns out you aren't that sort of person. It was an honest question - why would someone ask that on a forum when the info is so easy to find?
As for being a knob, well at least I don't have to look any of these people in the eye.
@camcoop25 Ha, fair enough, bro. YT is always changing the format. In the past it was linked. At least now your comments are highlighted so that you can find them. Before it was a nightmare, especially if the comment was long after your original was posted. Hawkins is a legend. Not many Americans move to Canada and make it. It's usually the other way around. Cheers.
jeff was born to play in jerry lees band born 40 yrs too late lol wish these two woulda done hideaway together by freddie king that would have rocked///////
Jerry Lee Lewis really sucks big time in this clip. If you haven't got the ability to back up your lyrics with an appropriate stage show, and can't solo for shit, you shouldn't be playing live any more.
Im both a big JLL fan and Jeff Healey fan but Jerry was cutting Jeff off in the middle of his solo, and thats just unprofessional. Also they should of gotten jeff a mike too.
Jeff was known for his long solos, JLL should of gave him more bars, i mean Jeff wasn't as nearly known as JLL and I think he should have let Jeff display his talent to the world, but notheless Jeff and JLL were having a great time and this is deemed timeless
I don't get it. In this song after a couple of verses (of singing) comes a piano solo and then a fiddle/guitar solo. Then the song goes on like a train, ...we've got chicken in the barn... then real low... Guitar solo was there as long as it should be. Take a look at Great Balls of Fire at the same concert. What a tribute to Jeff...
@republikofnfld Note that Jeff pointed in Jerry's direction at the end of his 12-bar. To me that indicates that "I'm done, you go on," or "I can stop now if you want me to." I didn't interpret any of that as unprofessional at all. If anything it was all about awareness and consideration.
A legend, a true star!!

Jeff doesn't have the feel right. He's playing with a more modern rhythm - that Jerry Lee rhythm is more straight.
Listen to original Chuck Berry recordings and then listen to how people play them now - the feel has changed drastically.

Hawkins... why wouldn't you google it instead of parading your ignorance in a public forum?

What a boring version honestly, too bad since Jeff Healey is with him... The tempo is far too low on this version...

Did you know Jerry Lee is the cousin of one of those preacher guys that got busted? Jimmy Swaggart.

I think it is only slower because of the orchestra arrangement.Nothing to do with drugs!

Back the 90's he was still in struggle with drug addiction and other things, that turne some of the performances too slon sometimes.

Type "Jerry Lee Lewis-Brazilian TV Broadcast" on youtube search enginew. You will see a even slower performance. Very funny and even a little nice.
