Steve playing behind the beat at the beginning of the solo sounded awesome, he seemed to be trying some different stuff in the middle which was cool - a little jumbled at times I thought - but he ripped it nonetheless and finished strong with those wild runs. Great outro to a song, when I saw them earlier this year he played a magnificent solo that I won't forget! Great band.
dude, thanks for posting, this is just out of control sick guitar work and Wakeman has never sounded better... what did he do, keep that machine pristine in his basement for 30 years. Incredible stuf.
Hey[ fpave ]we were there in force from McHenry High School. All wasted and shit. I think the cops came thru in a wall with dogs and ushered everyone out when it was done. HA! We did the Disco Demo and then nearly burned down old Sox Park too. YEP back in the day.
I had the best memory of Yes seeing them in 1977 at Hawthorn Racetrack in Chicago with Lynyrd Skynyrd,Frampton and Gary wright those were some good times and it didn't cost alot $20.00 bucks WTH
i actually dont remember my first yes concert ( bouncing around in my moms womb lol ) but the first time i ever saw squire play the bass ( age 4 or so ) i will never forget the look he gave right as he was plucking a very very powerful string that sent vibrations right through my chest. at age 23, i will never forget that moment....
You know, I'm a fan of many bands (as all of you are), but Yes has always been one of my favorites.
Top to bottom, can you name another band that has so much talent at every postion (including singer, which is as much an instrument as anything you plug in).
A band of geniuses, pure and simple....
And previous poster was right, this sone is pure masterpiece...

I always see people raving about Wakeman or Steve or Jon or Chris.... the magic of this band is not in the individuals, though all of them are great musicians. The beauty of Yes is the spectacular combination of sounds and virtuosity. The soundscapes of distant lands, times, ideas, and concepts are spectacular. They really take you to those odd looking places on the covers of their albums.
i just saw Yes last night at the Mohegan Sun and I have to say all of the musicians were awesome but Steve Howe left me speechless on numerous occasions

Howe is trying desperately to replace the energy that Chris & Trevor brought to this during the 90125 tour. if you have ever seen the 90125 video of this song you will see what I mean.:) Hopefully Steve will someday recognize that his work can inspire others to build upon it and it actually gets better. This is a great complement to an expanding universe and those who tap into such sources :)
In my opinion there are to brilliant interpretation of this titanian master piece: " Edmonton 84 ( with Trevor R.) and synfonic live 02 with a really breathless performance from the great Steve Howe and the others !
P.S and i haven't mistaken it for the parts where he uses the modulation wheel to bring in the "rough" effect. before you smarties try to correct me :P
You can see Ricks getting annoyed with his Minimoog. The high end contacts are worn and need replacing. The same has happened with mine, certain notes are "horribly wobbly" as i call them. I still haven't got mine fixed! Good vid tho! :)
Amazing!

Actually I can name a couple bands, Rush and Genesis. I've been a drummer on and off 36 years, I love Yes too and seen them three times.
