  • I watched it live. Got goosebumps. Watched it on youtube again. Still got goosebumps.

  • Always a brilliant version, two brilliant actresses/singers who completely own the stage in this song and the whole show in general. :) XD

  • I wish I could sing :/

  • 7:40

  • And i understand IT TOOK ME A WHILE!!!! XD

  • The thing I love SO MUCH about Rachel is that she doesn't go crazy with the riffs and she uses her natural talents to create depth to the role... alot of elphies dont really do that too much anymore(i feel like), which is all what elphaba is. I didnt realize this till now but... Rachel Tucker is my favorite Elphie:)

  • Rachael Tucker=My Elphie!!!!

  • God that was fucking incredible. I'd cut off my foot to be able to sing like that.

  • Just wanted to thank you for the quality of this video. It's rare to find show footage that isn't blurry. Great to see their faces and their expressions! Thanks!!

  • I have seen Wicked 3 times so far live. I love it so much. But I have never seen a video of one with such strong accents. It makes me giddy! it is soooo cute! And they are awesome.

  • I have tickets for Feb. 26th!! can't wait! Absolutely my favorite show!

  • I saw this last night for the first time. The person that completely blew me away was Rachel Tucker. Absolutely brilliant and amazing! Would happily see it again if she was still playing Elphaba.

  • There is only one Elphaba. Rachel Tucker!

  • Rachel is amazing, that performance just blew me away!

  • I hate this glinda! She obviously Auditioned for the part of Elpheba was turned down, sucked off the director and was given this part!

  • This scene is just overacted!

  • Their voices together singing 'I hope you're happy in the *END*' is their duet equivalent of Louise's 'Die Alone'. So perfect together... I hope I get to see them together again

  • I watched this last week in the west end. Omg Rachel's voice was amazing and she gave me so much goosebumps in this song.

  • Sorry but for me the original broadway cast is the best. Eveytime I try to watch others, they disappoint.

  • Thanks for posting! This always gives me goosebumps aswell! Love it, one of the best musical songs ever imo.

  • this song never fails to give me goosebumps!

  • Rachel Tucker is the best elphaba!

  • Amazing speech less I have 1word to say wow

  • when's rachel is finished in the west end (hopefully never) she should go to broadway (that way i have an excuse to go to new york) <3 xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • I've seen 3 different Elphabas live and I think I can honestly say that Rachel Tucker is AMAZING!

  • 4 people tryed to bring her down and failed!

  • even though Rachel hits a couple sour notes in this recording, saw this live a couple months ago and was BLOWN AWAY! they are by far my favorite Elphaba & Glinda behind Idina & Kristin. the power in Rachel's rendition is incredible!!!

  • 4 people have no musical taste.

  • Rachel is my favourtie Elphie :)

  • I remember when I watched this live... I think I almost shat myself on the last lot of notes. I felt her voice vibrate through my body, totally caught me off guard :L

Plus, as a person who likes to sing myself, she really inspired me. xD

  • Rachel is just magnificent as Elphaba. And I have a photo with her... :-)

  • Louise <3

  • Saw these two on Louise's last night yesterday. Defying Gravity honestly had me sat there wide-mouthed with my heart pounding. Phenomenal. They started crying during For Good. Sooo emotional!

  • @LoveFromShinola I was there too ! it was amazing. one of the best musicals i have ever seen. and so lucky to be able to watch louise performance before she left for tour. will definitely watch this again !!

  • Just Perfection in every way. So much better than Original cast recording.

  • I love both Rachel and Louise a lot. I also like Julie Legrand as Morrible very much.

  • I think Louise uses too much vibrato..tone it down!

  • Does she come up for air when she's singing? Wow! I can watch this over and over again and it doesn't bore me one bit!

  • The best singers EVER

  • I've watched this video like 500 times. I know every word although it is way better live. ;)

  • Both had amazing voices and defying gravity gave me chills.

  • like a boss.

  • The joy of musical theatre is that every performer has their own take on a part. Therefore, I think it's inappropriate for anybody to comment on who's better. They're each wonderful in their own way and should not be compared.

  • Can we get her on Broadway? Please?

  • Oh my gosh. Listen to that belt. Incredible.

Why can't Rachel and Idina both be amazing Elphies? Why does it have to be a competition? They're both incredible actresses with incredible voices. It's not fair to say that one is better than the other, when each makes the role her own.

  • shes great! except when she goes "tell them hoai (how i)" and "im flyingai (flying high)"

  • Literally gaping at the computer right now. That's fantastic. Hardly anyone can make those last three notes, not all of them. Brilliant.

  • THE RACHEL GROWL AT THE END!! YOU JUST GOT TO LOVE IT!

  • i really love it when rachel says, cant and want hahaha

  • Rachel Tucker is INCREDIBLE live! I've never seen Idina live, but comparing videos of them, it seems to me that Rachel is better. Both of them are excellent, but Rachel just made me cry throughout the whole musical. I would watch Wicked over and over and over again.

  • I've seen both Idina Menzel & Kristen Chenoweth and Rachel Tucker & Louise Dearman live and have compared the Defying Gravity act. Both are without doubt phenomenal but Idina Menzel is just unbeatable. It's not a competition either but I preferred Idina's version.

  • Wooooy!

  • Just convinced my parents to drive four hours to see this, although I'm paying for the tickets. It'll be sooooooooooooo worth it!

  • wOw.

  • Holy Cats (no pawn intended) LOL That was incredible, not the best audio/visual but BRAVO!!!

  • phenomenal

  • i saw them live yesterday, they truly are my favourite elphaba and glinda.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=3NeLb8xdM9Y

  • Truly, wicked.

  • Love rachel and louise

  • She's really good... still prefer Alexia though

  • Outstanding!!!!!

  • Watching it live and watching it now just gives me shivers, it's so so so amazing! I could actually watch this play a thousand times, as for comparing them - I think they're both amazing in their own way! I've only seen Rachel live so I really can't compare!

  • I saw it live. It was incredible!!! :D

  • TOSS TOSS!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey let's stop comparing and enjoy. Okay? (btw, I love Kerry Ellis)

  • I think people shouldn't be comparing the pairs (Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth) and (Rachel Tucker and Louise Dearman) unless they've seen BOTH pairs perform LIVE. I've only seen the London version, so naturally, watching Idina and Kristen here on youtube will make them seem not as good as Rachel and Louise.

  • But Rachel is really good too!!!

  • I think Indena and Kristin are better...just sayin'...please don't reply to me with mean comments!

  • @GagaNumber1Monster At least spell Idina's name right....

  • I saw them in London last month. I held on to my seat when she sang this! That was my first time seeing Wicked, too! Gosh, I love this video! Sooooo glad I got to see them perform. <33333333

    with love, Rayana.

    #AMERICA

  • amazing

  • Rachel Tucker was amazing-3 saw it twice because of her.. Well not completley because of her but mainly... Urmm yeah got there eventually.. WICKED-3

  • rachel tucker was truly amazing when we went to see her. she stole the show with this song!! had me in tears!

  • I love their voices ! i like it more than with an american accent. AMAZING show :)

  • You just got to love this AMAZING womans growls!! Tuckerlove!!

  • Saw this the other night! (3rd september 2011) LVOE IT!!! Cried at the end!

  • if i had an endless supply of money i would go see this every day... ♥♥

  • get shivers every time i listen to this!

  • Was at it on Friday night (26/08/11) and Wow the two of them together are amazing and I'd nearly say they are better than Idina & Kristen..... I mean they'll never be forgotten as the original Elphaba & Glinda but Rachel and Louise are amazing :)

  • I think she is much better than Idina myself. She just takes my breath away. Incredible to have a voice like that!

  • I saw this last year, 1/07/10, the saturday matinee. And it was Rachel's understudy! I was so upset! Even though Nikki was AMAZING. But she isn't Rachel. I need money so I can go and see her!

  • I saw this a few weeks ago, so amazing :)

  • I don't think words can describe how stunning Rachel Tucker is as Elphaba. I've seen her twice now, & not only is her voice out of this world (particularly in no good deed- WOW), she's so passionate & puts so much into each & every performance. You can tell this is her dream role as she's said on many occasions. I saw Kerry Ellis a few times (& still am a big fan of Kerry's) & never thought I'd say I preferred another portrayal to hers, but Rachel just blows me away & I hope to see her again :)

  • i saw wicked a couple of weeks ago and i've been searching of this verson for ages so thank you for uploading it :D x

  • my mum took me to wicked for my birthday, i dont think words can describe rachels voice, but, im sure the fact that everybody shivered when she sang shows that shes bloody brilliant!!

    team tucker!

  • Oh my god, I saw Wicked last Wednesday, and at the end of Defying Gravity I almost peed myself... Seriously, amazing..I have almost no words...

  • I saw this on Saturday and it was from 6:37 that I began to cry! Racheal Tucker is just amazing!

  • i never get tired of this, LOVE IT SO MUCH :D

  • WICKED IS AMAZING.

  • Saw her on Saturday amazing i cried so much! and Louise was incredible!

  • i don't understand why everyone's comparing her to idina. let's face it: there's only one ORIGINAL elphaba, and I think Idina did a fantastic job with the role. Having said that, this is my first time hearing Rachel Tucker perform and she is freaking fantastic!

  • saw her tuesday and thought is was AMAZING! Indeed better than Idina!

  • Saw this on Monday, Rachel was the perfect Elphie! Blew me away!

  • rachel is the best Elpiba<3 idinas great but rachel is a stronger and better singer. thumbs up for rachel!

  • wow rachel cryed :'( that's good acting right there

  • I was in London for Holiday and this production just absolutely blew me away. Ive never really seen a professional play before and words just dont describe it. They are both amazing actresses and singers that made me relate to the play. I would see if every day if I could.

  • This number was a heart-stopper when I saw it live last year.

  • I cant belive from 6:30 to 8:11! It's so goood! Wow!

  • I saw her yesterday and NO video can do her justice, by faaar the best Elphaba I've ever seen!

  • if anyone knows where i can get a proper recording of rachel tuckers performance!!!

  • @koalakiss86 There probably ain't any "proper" recording of the performances of Wicked since video recording is not allowed in theaters. What you get are videos recorded secretly. The only one that I could deem as a "proper" recording of Rachel Tucker singing Defying Gravity live is on Dancing On Ice. Try searching for it!

  • @koalakiss86 Or if you are looking for ACTUAL studio recordings, then only the Original Broadway Cast are recorded. There's no West End records anywhere. :(

  • I've watched so many wicked video's now that the green just looks normal! :)

  • @lisaemm24 rachel isn't leaving, she's continuing into 2012 :) xE

  • best thing I've ever seen, I saw the show in London late June this year, just incredible!!

  • I absolutely love this video! Jaw-dropping, goosebumping, eyes tearing...stunning! Love Rachel and Louise together as Elphaba and Glinda.

  • Rachel is brilliant! i my jaw dropped when she belted out the last parts

  • ive been looking for this song for ages, i saw wicked with rachel in it but when i searched this song it kept coming up with a different cast and they just werent as good

  • Serious Goosebumps...

  • Few things make me cry but I saw this just over a year ago in the west end and I was bawling my eyes out when Rachel sung this. Absolutely amazing, to anyone thinking of seeing it please do. It is a beautiful piece of art!

  • i was actually moved when i saw this live! i <3 wicked!

  • Those 3 dislikes are Dorothy, Madame Morrible and the Wizard ;)

  • Saw them live in the west end recently, and trust me, nothing is as amazing as to listen to this girl sing her heart out from the third row :D

  • Dear Jesus I saw this on Monday and it was incredible. Rachel Tucker is by far the best Elphaba!! I cried during the show when she sang it and now I cried again. This is just too beautiful. Thank you so much for putting it here!

  • cool

  • rachel tucker is so beautiful -- even with her face painted green, she can't mask the beauty of her face or voice

  • Only just saw this today and I love it so much. (:

  • I saw these two last august and they were truly amazing. Prior to seeing it I was convinced no one could compare to Idina and Kristen but I must admit that these two came a close second. Enjoyed it so much that I am frantically trying to get tickets for next week for my friend and I.

  • Soo much better than Broadway! We went in June and it was phenomenal.

  • why does rachel have to leave she is amazing :(

  • rachel tucker is just flawless. I LOVE HER. she's amazing.

  • i have got a craving to listen to 'defying gravity'. i have listened to other performances here in youtube, however that "wicked" voice i have heard in apollo theatre 2 months ago haunted me. UNTIL, i saw this. i can not be mistaken, since were seated in the second row. FLAWLESS!

  • ooh i´m going to see them soon :D so looking forward to it!

  • goosebumps ! <3

  • Dammit Glinda. Why couldn't you have just gone with her? D:

  • i went to see this at the apollo and actually cried of happiness at the bit where she when up and sang the end of the song. then i cried at 'as long as you're mine' then 'no good' deed then again at 'for good'. basically by the time we came out of the theatre it was flooded with my tears.

  • Who's Glinda here?

  • @vanallesfan Louise Dearmen :)

  • @vanallesfan Louise Dearman

  • Im sorry but you CANT fault that <3 xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Why is everyone comparing Rachel to Idina? There are so many other Elphies too. And everyone's saying Rachel is so much better thna Idina, but I think they voices actually sound very similar. And anyway, Idina was teh first ever, so everyone else has learned from her experiences, her mistakes, and her triumphs. It's always tough being the first at anything.

  • Comment removed

  • @metinkssumtin Louise Dearman.

  • Was not expecting the english accents for some strange reason.... Weird!

  • @TheEmzySquared I Went To See It In London Last Week And It Was Weird But You Got Used To It :D

  • @TheEmzySquared nice, not weird :D much nicer than the american or australian one...

  • 3 people fail big time!

  • rachel tucker is the best theatre singer ever.

  • I can't believe how bad Idina is when I compare her to Rachel. Go see Rachel while you can !!!

  • HOT!

  • I watched it at the theatre and I was cring she was soooo good! I lovveed itt soooo mucchh! xxx

  • Rachel's singing technique is better than Idina's, she uses her voice better than idina

  • @Deemjuhh12 But I felt that the original Elphaba and Glinda potrayed the characters better

  • @skytop21 Yes I agree with that, but Rachels singing technique is just so much better than Idina's, Idina beltsa lot in this song which is not good for your voice... But yeah I get your point :-)

  • @Deemjuhh12 I get what you mean too :) I don't really know much about technique (sadly -.-) but... even though what you said is most likely true (about Idina belting a lot not being good for her voice) I...when Idina sang i just had chills continuously, like goose bumps and just this feeling bubbling and....i'm sorry maybe Rachel's technique is better but to me Idina just made me believe you can defy gravity.

i don't mean to attack you or anything and I respect your opinion :) Just stating mine

  • @skytop21 Yes I absolutely agree with you!

  • @Deemjuhh12 Actually belting doesn't hurt your voice. The bad thing about it is that there are tons of people who don't do it right, and doing it wrong IS bad for your voice. I had this explained to me by my brother's voice teacher, who was taught by one of the first people to really explore belting technique.

  • @ProudSpeakerofWhale I am not saying that it hurts your voice, I said it is bad for your voice... But you get my point about Rachels singing technique :-)

  • @Deemjuhh12 Well no I'm saying that it's not bad for your voice if you do it right. Anyway, yeah I agree that Rachel is technically a better singer than Idina, although that doesn't mean that I don't love Idina, because I do. She's great. :)

  • @ProudSpeakerofWhale No belting is not good for your voice you can't do it right. Anyway!

  • All i can say is: Gossebumps.

  • Saw Rachel Tucker & Louise Dearman last night (18.06.11) and they were Wicked !!! Rachel is a fantastic Elphaba. I'm a macho man and Wicked makes me cry !!! Ha ha ha

  • @ticktoneers I concur ;)

  • Rachel Tucker is amazing.

  • Go Wicked - DEFY GRAVITY!!!

  • She is the first Elphaba that I actually like since Idina :)

  • Saw Rachel Tucker and Louise Dearman for the first time on Saturday......IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!!! they were both amazing! can't wait to see it again!

  • i watched this in the westend....i had been waiting so long to hear this song live and knew i would cry......rachel send coosebumps and tears flowing threw my body...she is such an amaazing woman and so insperational me.....i can not wait to see it again....xxx

  • you know. she's been Elphaba for way over a year now, i think they need to bring in someone new in

  • @Elphiesgreenfriend ... Are you being serious?! Sit in a corner and think about what you just said!

  • @EveningGovernor why? is that what you do?

  • @Elphiesgreenfriend what? I know it's your opinion and stuff, but Rachel is an AMAZING Elphaba! Why do you think they should replace her just because she's been doing it for a year?

  • @Elphiesgreenfriend Rachel is leaving the show in December this year.. she will be greatly missed!!

  • tears fell from my eyes while she was singing "So if you care to find me...."

  • @rayrorst I know... it always happens to me... somehow, out of all Elphabas, Rachel brings goosebumps and tears... now, this is talent!!
