Oh I'm sorry for your loss :( thank god my little Betta fish Swimmy is still alive if anything happened to him I woul drown in my tears I saved him from a cup in petco in July in 2011

Yeah... my Albino Goldfish Swimmy died from ammonia poisoning the day after I got back from college, I had had him for 3 years and he had grown to be 6 inches long too. I miss him, he was my baby too ;n; first pets are always the hardest to let go...

In a tiny unheated tank like that I'm amazed he lived a year. You really should have been changing the water every day in a "tank" like that. That betta like to live in tiny spaces is a huge misconception and why they die so shortly. They can actually live for 5 or 6 years, max. I had one for 5. They're tropical freshwater fish (from Thailand) and require a small heater to be healthy and happy. I keep 3 of mine is heated 2.5 gallon tanks, change the water every 3 days, they're great.
