I wonder how they even came up with the idea. I can just imagine one of the guys unlocking a padlock one day, suddenly noticing how it is shaped and thinking: "Hmm, this looks like a swan... OH MY GOD THIS WILL BE AN AWESOME SKETCH!"
its called gaelic i think scotland speaks gaelic to maybe not the same but they are both pretty much dead laguages most welsh people cannot speak gaelic
Yeah i think Welsh is the only remaining true English. Thats after the Anglo Saxons etc came over and changed the language. I can remember reading that somewhere in wiki
What are you talking about? o-o England didn't 'renounce' the language, it was Old English - it just evolved? Take the influence of the Romans which eradicated most of the Celtic / Gaelic stuff in England, and then add the vikings and their Old Norse and you've got Old English? ...You make it sound like we all had a meeting and decided to speak English instead.
haha there was a childrens programme on CBBC when i was little, so about...15-20 years ago it must have been broadcast. it was in welsh and english, and there was always a bloke with a beard playing the guitar, and i remember it being really boring, but i watched i for the crappy arts and crafts section and the song! good times!
I'm fluent in Welsh and love this sketch!!

The Manx spean Gaelg
Welsh is different to Gaelic languages it's part of the Brythonic group. All are Celtic languages but Welsh is not Gaelic in origin

wat he means is that welsh is the last true british/Brythonic language as english is just a mix of mainly germ then some norse roman mixed into.

No, Welsh is not and never has been a variation of Gaelic. There are two branches of the Celtic language family.
Goidelic - Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx
Brythonic - Welsh, Breton and Cornish.
The Angles and Saxons came to Britain and brought their Germanic language with them, which became English.
