I understand it's out duty to protect our country from our government, but what the gov't is doing is trying to protect the country from terrorists. they should be allowed to prevent a future 9/11 with the means that they have been using which is why we've prevented so many attacks already.

I recommend reading Ron Pauls book "The Revolution A Manifesto". He speaks truth about terrorism worth quoting at length. He relies on REAL experts.

I have a copy of the PATRIOT ACT. I have read many parts of it. It seems most who are against it have not really read it. And since the ACLU has serious issues, I don't usually trust anything from that organization. I suggest you read the ACT. I see nothing in it that truly threatens our rights. Yeah, the patriot act was horrifying. The government could make up a reason to designate anyone as an *enemy combatant* without a judge's consent and deprive them access to legal counsel. That undermines everything our country stands for.

It is not the person I would be voting for, but instead the person I did not vote for which is worrisome. Conscience will not allow me to participate.

Morality guides people, rather than the state which represents compulsion. Any system which advocates the use of force, or violence, is not for me. I would not support the local mafia and/or it's leaders. Therefore; I must too view government and the atrocities they commit in the same, or similar light. There is one small difference. I have a copy of the PATRIOT ACT. I have read many parts of it. It seems most who are against it have not really read it. And since the ACLU has serious issues, I don't usually trust anything from that organization. I suggest you read the ACT. I see nothing in it that truly threatens our rights. It helps protect us from terrorism.

wwe107, I did listen to her video. But quoting sections doesn't mean she read the ACT itself. She could have merely read a letter from the ACLU telling her that it's "unconstitutional." It makes it easier to bust TERRORISTS acting in the USA, which I have no problem with, as I am not a terrorist. The provisions of the ACT have helped stop terrorism. You might want to look that up. They were planning to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, but were STOPPED because of the provisions.

I suggest a very good book, LOST RIGHTS: THE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICAN LIBERTY by James Bovard. it's about 10 years old, but very relevant even today and it is a must read for every American. The book outlines outrageous govt abuses on countless levels. It's also a very interesting and enjoyable read, and it will shock your conscience. Keep up the good fight.

If you know someone in the airport has a bomb then security has a right to protect. However the rights that are being violated are those everyday people who happen to be on a security name list that are not terrorist. Before 911 there were 16 people flagged. afterwards over 75,000 and most of these people were put on there by the goverment because they protested the government. And if your name is on it because it is familiar. Your screwed. Some people get full body searches. Its intimidating.

The goal of OUR government is to do what the constitution says, because our government is defined by the constitution. If the constitution is designed to keep the government in check and keep it from violating our God given rights, then that is what the government's job is.
Our government not listening to the constitution should not be possible considering everythign it is to be able to do is defined int he constitution. We need to set this government straight and let them know who is boss!
