Hi :) It was a very nice attempt to make goan ambot tik...I am a goan and love this dish.. it tastes best when made with mackarel.. I just want to make a correction it is not ambotik but ambot tik... ambo in konkani means mango and ambot means sour :)
1) Can this ambotik masala be used for prawns and other firm fish.
2) Please show an easy way of making crab curry, right from buying, cleaning, and curry paste making.
3) I visit Gomantak restaurants ( in Dadar, Mumbai) and in the thali there they give you a nice, heavenly red curry with (no fish pieces) to eat with rice. whats that and can you please show its recipe as well.....Waiting eagerly mam.....
Yes you can use the masala with prawns or any other fish like surmai or bangda. We have noted your request for a crab curry and will see what we can do about the same. The red curry that you have mentioned seems like the Tambda Rassa - which is a Kolhapuri speciality.
i love Goan food, except that i cannot cook it well. I tried out this dish with just 4 red chillies (without the seeds) coz i didn't want the curry to be too hot, along with the required ingredients. The end result was a disappointing paste color...it looked just like the added coconut cream...:(sigh, perhaps better luck next time. Many thanks for the video.
Use Bedgi chillies that are not so very spicy. Then if you remove all the seeds and the white pith to which the seeds are attached, the spiciness will be further reduced. You can use more chillies and your curry will get a lovely colour.
Its also called Amshe Tikshe. Atleast in our Konkani it is.
