  • Im from Missouri. Some people dont think its in the south. Well half of it is half of it is half of it isnt. The top part isnt north the bottom part isnt the south. The southern part of Missouri is the country folk. The northern part of Missouri is the city people. One of my grandmas lived on a cotton farm in Arkansas. My other one lived on a pig/corn farm in Nebraska and I love them both. Plus Trace Adkins said them Missouri folk are ok with me!

  • if u dont like country music then y listen to it go listen to something u like

  • if u dont like the song then why the hell listen to it this is the kind of music i was raised on my momma done raised me right

  • The South: Nobody fucks with or makes fun of the North, but us. Just ask Osama Bin Laden.

  • I have nothing against the South. It's just insane that some of the people down that way are still fighting the Civil war.

  • @Greeeyedbandit30 - I am sorry you are so unhappy with yourself. You might want to educate yourself about the history of the South before bashing everyone that lives here. Your comments are far from open-minded and just keep that yankee streotype going. I doubt you really want to compare education with some on here since you can't make a point to save your life. By the way, listen to the song again. It pretty much decribes a life opposite of your sterotype.

  • YANKEE PRIDE ;)

  • fuck all u city slickers if you dont like the old south then fucke yer self rebel tell the day i die WHITE PRIDE WORLD WIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

  • wHO THE FUCK CLAPS ON THE 1 AND THE 3!!?!?! ONLY WHITE PEOPLE!

  • Fuck my sister? You'd know all about that, would'nt you? By the way, I'm a Female! You dumbass uneducated, toothless inbreed!!!

  • Inbreeds. Gotta love the south!

  • Wow some of you people in the south should be ashamed of yourselves. So much hate towards us Northerners because we are more educated and stronger than ya'll and always will be. Don't ever forget that! Yankee pride for life =]

  • country music was still good in the 80s

  • videos back from before everyone became a government handout welfare baby

  • i live up north but wish i was down south.

i hope you know your going to get A LOT of hate for sayin' that....damn yank's

  • @HaloVeteran1337 i was jk man. i actually love this song. and i live in south carolina so i deal with rednecks everyday. i actually use to be a redneck but now i just listen to rock/ metal. I'm not a yank either lol so yeah. i still love country

  • who ever doesnt like this is messed up.

  • why the fuck would they put this dumbass singing on this ad on a classic Alabama song? what a shame

  • no African Americans?

  • The scenery from the beginning of the video is from the Midwest. Most of which is considered the north.

  • [><] The South shall rise again!

  • @Seeeeeeeeeeeya Probably not. I mean, I'm from the South but I don't really want to start a civil war over a racist agenda again. Maybe over a bacon shortage or something.

  • @JTtheLAR Hahahaha

  • @JTtheLAR Might want to read your Civil War book again. Gotta remember Gen. Lee was anti-succession and very anti-slavery. Go and Google why he still chose to serve.

  • i would rather live in the country than live in the city and thats where i am now yeeeehaaaw!!!

  • just cause i love the south it dont mean im racist good grief people im a rebel not a racist

  • @LauraLBrittain I understand. But open-minded folk on here have already decided what we are and are not.

  • @seacadet911 me too

  • @seacadet911 is indiana pretty country?

  • @tobelovedfreak it reminds me of minnesota

  • @tobelovedfreak It depends where you go. The northern part is all industry and is crappy. That is where im at. The southern part is hilly and rocky and huge forests and is real nice.

  • @tobelovedfreak NO!!!!!!!!!

    Why are you stereotyping?

  • I'm an Acadien, so I'm not from the South (lol). But your music is the greatest!

I'm still waiting for the time machine!

  • Great song. Great video. Not to mention a great and for contour-plowing and keeping a stash of food, supplies, and money at home for hard times and drought.

  • I'm from Pennsylvania.. and we're just as hick as anyone from Alabama <3

  • @angelwiley26 No your not, Because One. Down here, we're not called "Hicks." We are called Rednecks, Southerners, And Rebels.

  • @ThePitbull166 We call ourselves rednecks as well. The term redneck comes from West Virginia, for your information, and WV was a northern state during the Civil War. So if you want to play that game, go ahead and make yourself look like a fool. I don't know why people have to hold a grudge over a war that killed thousands of American men, and ended over 150 years ago. Grow up and move on.

  • @angelwiley26 Those that were wronged never forget....those that wronged others always try to forget.

  • I live on the borderline between the South and North. Right in North Virginia. I still like Southerners more than Northerners.

  • I am an American. I am a Southerner. The south has a duty to America to be the best it can be, I hate no Northerner. I don't love all Southerners. We as people of the south have got to improve our image. We are not trash. We are not rednecks. We are Americans who respect God and country. If you love your beloved South then stand strong with the rest of the states. General Lee would be proud to see his south happily joined with the north.

  • @GibbsUSMC wow, would have been a nice speech...

  • @GibbsUSMC I couldn't agree w/ you more..That's what i'v been thinking myself and i'm from Dallas,TX..

  • I love living in the south. It's nice and warm.

  • can i get a yee-haw lived in texas for 13 years may have been born in virginia but texas is my home god bless the south an maybe the north a bit

  • a beautiful song, one of the greatest ever written, god bless the south and her people, may she rise up against the corrupt government which has taken over and is destroying every decent value once held dear to every american, the south is one of the most patriotic and god fearing places in the country and i hope people will recognize that soon and quit making it out to be filled with racists and ignorant rednecks, god bless missouri(which i consider southern by culture, god bless DIXIE

  • HARDSHIPS THEY SAY..... WHEN WILL US AMERICANS GET TO ENJOY THE LAND OF THE FREE AGAIN?

  • Hank said, "One day the ground is going to shake like a big rattle snake and the South will rise again." God bless you Hank Jr.

  • The most beautiful song in the world for those of us who were born in the promised land. Hank Williams said we might not see heaven but sure have walked across the promised land. Go Alabama, go hard core South.

  • i live in iowa, was born in the 90s and im a purebred motherfuckin redneck from the south even though i live in the north and you bastards who are racist against the black, and the rednecks go fuck yourselves

  • Cotton on the roadside, Cotton in the ditch, the Niggers picked the cotton and it made us rich

  • @CheezeAddickt C'mon man. Not cool.

  • Every song that mentions Chevrolet has got to be cool!!!!

  • thumbs up if u live in the state that the band is named after

  • @AllenBamma That's on the same line of "Thumbs up if your still listening to this in 2012!"

  • just showing some love im in oakand california

  • What is it with Southerners hating Northerners? I live almost as far north as you can get in the US but i love the country way of life,

i hunt, i fish, i spend half my time on the woods. the last thing i wanna do is sit behind a desk or play video games.

  • @fridaysnewspaper Hell yeah! You from Michigan?

  • @MichiganCountryLeo Minnesota!!!

  • @fridaysnewspaper oh, heck yeah man. for once someone like you makes a comment that makes sence. and yes, you do have a very good point. that's what i enjoy doing too. my uncle took me hunting with him a couple times, i learned to fish with friends, and i feel at home up in the mountains and woods too.

  • @fridaysnewspaper here in California the cities are filled with 'south haters'. I was told by a gal in Frisco that all southerners "are obese trash, on welfare, fuck their nieces but secretly want a woman from the city". OK

  • @fridaysnewspaper we dont hate every northerner, just most of them. haha

  • @Ktriplett20 i am from the north and i got to say i love country more then you boy

  • @mattkitzman Shut the fuck up moron you make us all look bad.

  • you got to find a country station that plays older music from the 50s to the 70s. idk where your from, but where im from there are 5 or 6 stations that play alabama quit frequently

  • It REALLY pisses me off to never ever hear this band on the radio anymore. Mainstream music is so freaking corrupt it's not even funny. This band has 30 number ones and has sold over 73 million records. It is just so sad how real country music artists are treated now, just sad.

  • I'm in Kentucky. We were neutral back then. To be honest I hated to hear how people treated slaves. I wouldn't have fought though. I still hate people talking about African Americans. It pisses me off to hear the N-word.

  • @Cooki3MonsterxXx

If your love your so called "African Americans" go off and marry one, mudshark. we don't need to hear how culturally sensitive you are.

  • this was my favorite song when i was younger and now im 18 and its still in the top 5

  • First time I heard this song was in 1981 in Virginia, visiting my family, my cousin used to play it al the time. this brings back good memories. Back than I was an 18 year old boy from Holland. I'm 49 now still Dutch but I still remeber all the lyrics.

Thanks for sharing, I forgot all about this song!!!

  • My grandfather grew up in the depression. He ate ONE can of beans a day- thats it. Half the can for breakfast, half for dinner. He knew what hunger was. I will never forget that, or where I came from. He left the poor life of West Virginia for a better life in New Jersey and I am here today because of it. I will allways love him for that. I MISS YOU POP!

  • 19 year i have been listening to this songConsidering that is my age my grandfather played this song everytime i was in a car with him till it was stopped airing over the radio then when i found out about wonderful youtube this is the first song i ever looked at because it brought me and my grandfather closer

  • My Daughter is 6, and this is her favorite song, shes a Youtube and "Song of the South" junkie, cant say Dad didnt raise her right. When i take her Trucking she just looks at other trucks as we stroll by them in the large car KW as we listen to Song of the South for 9hrs strait, gotta love it

  • I'm from the south... of england. haha

  • You know what, Randy Owen probably hates all of you guys saying all this racist stuff. He didn't sing this song for that, he sang it because he wanted to describe the troubles during the depression. There are no words indicating that they are racist, they don't even talk about Blacks. I'm sure Randy Owen would kick the ass of all those racists. Just listen to the fucking music. I live in Maine, sure, but my mom is from Texas. I bet any Mainer could kick the shit out of you people who think

  • @SuperEmccarthy that the South is so much better than the North, because we work just as hard, in two feet of snow during the winter, and 110 degrees in the summer. Try that. But really, why don't you just shut up if you don't like black people, because you guys sure talk about them a lot for people who supposedly hate them.

  • im 16 and i cant get enough of Alabama there awesome they just cant compare this to most crap they make nowadays

  • @BeatACracker LOL then your really fucking stupid, southern people TODAY arent huge fans of blacks, youve had much more acceptance in the north yet you choose to stay with people who think of you as inferior

  • @billiejoestrongarm fuck you faggot if your soul was tightly wraped over the a bucket and had water strained throught it the water would turn to liqud shit. CSA FUCK YANKEES

  • CHEVROLET!!!

  • from north to south to west to east farmer mechanic or factory man we are all the same we know whats right stick to it and we can survive

  • This isn't a racist song at all. It would be a whole different story if they were talking about certain people, groups, and events. This just says pretty much what a lot of people thought back in and around the great depression.

  • I feel Proud to be an AMERICAN !!!!

  • Reading the ignorant comments on this song you'd think no white man ever picked cotton.

Proud to be a "Yankee" but please people, come up for a breath of air before commenting.

  • Chevrolet

  • GO ZIPS! GO USG!

  • DEFEND AKRON!

  • i live in the north and from Alabama and i like the north but nothing like the south baby!!!!!!

  • SOUTHERN DEMOCRAT

  • I love this song BUT there's something inherently wrong with the lyrics. if you wanna sing a real song about the south you CAN'T leave out the racist history. brad paisley has mentioned it in his music. Jesus Christ wouldn't be proud of that and southerners are gonna have to go balls out and be honest about it. this song is amazing though!

  • @abcdefghijklmnop312 ? Really? We're gonna have to honest about it. It's pretty common knowledge so why do we need to bring it up. What about the trail of tears? The native Americans? Let me guess they don't have a large enough demographic to worry about huh? Saying southern songs should talk about slavery is like saying all American songs should include something about the native Americans? Personally I've never had anything to do with slavery. So it really isn't part of my southern life. Lol

  • wait wait wait! You picked the cotton?

  • @jamesennis95 And the ignorance of you Yanks comes through. What do you know about slave owning? Clearly not much. Here at Con. U. we offer a comprehensive "indentured servant management" program. So before you jump on the "slavery is bad!" bandwagon, educate yourself. You might just be surprised at what you find

  • Over 20 years ago. Like this if your still listening to it in 2011.

  • so, im a boy and i like guys and everytime im with a southerner they are an asshole about it. so why im wondering why does it bother you guys so much, i mean its not going up your ass so whats the big deal hmm?

  • @billiejoestrongarm 95% is due to the people that raised us. That's why as time is moving on, people are becoming more accepting(not saying there's a ton of supporters but there's been progress) and personally, the South is the heart of the Bible belt. It says it's wrong and that's what we've come to believe. Now that needs to be all the religion is this conversation. But as for me(and I hope more people), I'm learning to turn my shoulder because I can't control y'alls lifestyle.

  • @baseballP25 well in the bible two girls are thrown into a crowd to be raped and that doesnt sound too right. you know people themselves can tell the difference between right and wrong and i dont think its wrong im not hurting anyone with it and its not offensive, so what if it grosses people out i have the right.

  • @billiejoestrongarm there's a lot of disgusting and terrible things in the Bible but God didn't say throw them into the crowd. And as for choosing what's wrong and what's right, sexuality is a choice, not a test. There is no wrong and right(ignorant people may say otherwise). But if from an early age you are told that same-sex marriage is against the backbone of your faith, you begin to develop a mindset that it's wrong(again, I'm not saying it is).

  • @billiejoestrongarm I'm mature enough to say yeah it grosses me out but I'm not think anything less of gays or lesbians and I'm not going persecute(for lack of a better word) anyone for their choice

  • @baseballP25 well yeah i honeslty dont see why its so gross i mean its not like im over the top in public with it anyway. you honesly wouldnt even be able to tell i was, lol ill say stuff on youtube but im not one to march down the street with it theres having pride in yourself and theres making an ass of yourself. and i dont care about getting called a faggot i just dont like getting beat up all the time, i mean people can mind there own buissness to a degree.

  • @billiejoestrongarm my thing is I'm a guy, I have a penis, I'm going to be the only guy to touch my penis unless it's my doctor lol. But yeah going to what you said about having pride in yourself, that's great, all LGBT's should but I have to admit one thing, I have something against gay men that have to wear dresses an heels and think that they're women. To me, it shows a lack of pride and self-confidence. You're a guy, own it. Idk it's a complex that they have I just dont understand it.
