What will surprise most is the type of people turning against their fellow man during wrol. Also, National Guard/police officers are allowed to seize personal property from a group of people in order to give to those that don't have what they need. If ordered to do so, you will go into your neighbors house and confiscate anything that is needed, like guns and stored food. This is called martial law. Look up gun confiscation in New Oleans after Katrina.

Demcad, I live in the mountains northeast of Sacramento. A few years back on of the big gangs in the city headed up here thinking that the people up here would be easy to rip off. At the first house 6 got out of the car..only three ran off still breathing. We have very sparse police coverage up here so many of us have already adopted the "Protect yourself" mindset. one of the biggest things I love about where I live is that we can circle the wagons and keep people out if we needed to.

The clip I am considering sending is of a rural area of France where people seem to be very considerate and cooperate very well. The terrain is very harsh and they have to. If you want to know what will happen in a SHTF situation, you can look at the former Soviet Union.
Another example would be Panama/Colombia/Ecuador/Venezuela, which at one point was one country called New Granada.
As for police, the Colombian example is a good one. Some "paramilitaries" served well until the gov arrived. Some paramilitaries were just as bad as the guerrillas.
Never mind gangs. I met a group of 15 guys in a militia in New Hampshire. They have gas masks and a ton of guns ready to go. I didn't like their attitude. They said they are ready to get theirs before anyone else does. They said they need to stick together. @straty01 where do you live? I live in Japan its pretty safe here. Guns are illegal also. I can go running at night by myself and never had a problem. Also had a fellow American come to Japan from Alabama and he absolutely LOVED it in Japan. He was so happy to be able to walk around at night and not have to fear for his life.

But I now live in an area where we have an awesome Sherrif who actually has the local Militia train with his deputies. That would leave them open to potential infighting and destruction if the resources become scarce enough at any one point. The prepared lone wolf would be far better off as long he remains hidden and is not out in the open as a target.

Now The most important factor is to have a STOCKPILE OF AMMO, LIKE I HAVE 7000 ROUNDS OF 9MM, 3000 ROUNDS OF .223 (SOME HOT SHIT IN THERE;-), 1000 ROUNDS OF 12 GUAGE AND 500 ROUNDS OF .380. I lived in a small town and it was pretty bad. The police had been investigated for molestation, robbing from the dead (using dead credit cards), possibly murder, claiming that there was only 8.2 grams of meth when there was about 9.4 grams of meth. I might have known them all by name, but they most definitely felt they were the law.
@tmzrox I agree. I actually have a 686 sitting next to me right now. I know alot of the preppers on YT say to keep your weapon calibers standard. But I will always prefer having multiple calibers. It is just my opinion. If ammo starts to run dry at the store, I am guessing 22, 9mm, 12ga, 223, 357, and 38 will be the first to disappear. If all they have left on the shelf is some 10mm auto and 7 rem mag, guess what, I have guns that can shoot it.
I think it all comes down to how deep the collapse is. If you base it on the numbers compared to 1930, we're well on our way to a much worse and longer period of WROL than back then. It's too early to tell how it will play out. The mob rule and gangs are the only thing I'm super concerned about. You have good communications skills and I really appreciate your view points! Janet Napolitano tells us that some of the most secure towns are on our southern border! Do you or anyone really believe her claim? I have friends that say if you are near the border say 1 to 5 miles like on a farm, ranch or suburban like city you have probably moved or are in fear 24x7. RoL must be maintained even in a SHTF scenario!
In Argentina people even ran stop lights to avoid criminals from jumping at their cars to rob them. People need to educate themselves as to what takes place if a collapse takes place. Often times it's very different than one might think. One issue I learned was that there is safety in numbers. The loner does not fare as well.
The collapse will come w/ a moral & psychological shock, much like 9-11, and although the outrage will make law-abiders give up faith in the American civil order, gangs and sociopaths won’t be affected. Some events dont happen right away. Some things are a slow build up or decline over several years. how do you plan for events with a slow change in circumstances. for instance your police forse looses a few cops a month. in a year there will be no more cops. it is often harder to plan for these kind of events because they are not as immediately noticeable.

What will surprise most is the type of people turning against their fellow man during wrol. One pivotal tip I'll extend from a militaristic point of view to all preppers: stop advertising your goods, How will anyone know you have stockpiles of food, water, munitions, ect., if you don't make it obvious? Short of going house to house, they won't. People posting videos and pictures of their "shtf weapons" are digging their own graves.

Also, National Guard/police officers are allowed to seize personal property from a group of people in order to give to those that don't have what they need. If ordered to do so, you will go into your neighbors house and confiscate anything that is needed, like guns and stored food. This is called martial law. Look up gun confiscation in New Oleans after Katrina.

Demcad, I live in the mountains northeast of Sacramento. A few years back on of the big gangs in the city headed up here thinking that the people up here would be easy to rip off. At the first house 6 got out of the car..only three ran off still breathing. We have very sparse police coverage up here so many of us have already adopted the "Protect yourself" mindset. one of the biggest things I love about where I live is that we can circle the wagons and keep people out if we needed to.

If you want to know what will happen in a SHTF situation, you can look at the former Soviet Union.
Another example would be Panama/Colombia/Ecuador/Venezuela, which at one point was one country called New Granada.
As for police, the Colombian example is a good one. Some "paramilitaries" served well until the gov arrived. Some paramilitaries were just as bad as the guerrillas.

I agree, I have lived in San Bernardino durring the '70s when Organized Crime was run out of the Sherrif's department (still is I hear). But I now live in an area where we have an awesome Sherrif who actually has the local Militia train with his deputies. A smart move whereby he can keep an eye on the Milita Movement and also has a ready made pool of Sherrif Posse members who actually have traine with his deputies. As for Gangs, that is simply tribalism in action and are a survival trait.

That would leave them open to potential infighting and destruction if the resources become scarce enough at any one point. The prepared lone wolf would be far better off as long he remains hidden and is not out in the open as a target.

I lived in a small town and it was pretty bad. The police had been investigated for molestation, robbing from the dead (using dead credit cards), possibly murder, claiming that there was only 8.2 grams of meth when there was about 9.4 grams of meth. I might have known them all by name, but they most definitely felt they were the law.

@tmzrox I agree. I actually have a 686 sitting next to me right now. I know alot of the preppers on YT say to keep your weapon calibers standard. But I will always prefer having multiple calibers. It is just my opinion. If ammo starts to run dry at the store, I am guessing 22, 9mm, 12ga, 223, 357, and 38 will be the first to disappear. If all they have left on the shelf is some 10mm auto and 7 rem mag, guess what, I have guns that can shoot it.

I think it all comes down to how deep the collapse is. If you base it on the numbers compared to 1930, we're well on our way to a much worse and longer period of WROL than back then. It's too early to tell how it will play out. The mob rule and gangs are the only thing I'm super concerned about. In Argentina people even ran stop lights to avoid criminals from jumping at their cars to rob them. People need to educate themselves as to what takes place if a collapse takes place. Often times it's very different than one might think. One issue I learned was that there is safety in numbers. The loner does not fare as well.

The collapse will come w/ a moral & psychological shock, much like 9-11, and although the outrage will make law-abiders give up faith in the American civil order, gangs and sociopaths won’t be affected. They’ll take advantage of citizens who are, themselves, suddenly deer in headlights. Police will become like drifting Samurai. And I caution you about “limited” or “temporary” collapse: the reprisals will chain-react. In fact, here’s another acronym to go with WROL: GRT (Global Reign of Terror).

@freddietz96 YES after the fall this GOV it will be VERY hard to put it back together look around at everyone else and most places who have fallen are still TRYING to put the pieces back together .

If there is no law, then the cops will not be your biggest problem. They will not even be working. If theyre not getting paid, then they will be at home protecting their families so i disagree with you.

I've only seen few good cops and they never keep there job in the first few years. ): Shows you have to be a pig just to keep it. If you think most cops will protect you in time of desperate need, you are making a terrible mistake. Now if you live in a extremely small town, then the police might have a moral conscience. but since I live near stockton, I do no what to deal with anything about them.

Some events dont happen right away. Some things are a slow build up or decline over several years. how do you plan for events with a slow change in circumstances. for instance your police forse looses a few cops a month. in a year there will be no more cops. it is often harder to plan for these kind of events because they are not as immediately noticeable.
