@XxSaintPatxX That's sure what it looks like. But in reality, it's a guitar and bass on steroids - low strings in the center, flipped tuning, separate amp for each half, an extra fret to play what would normally be an open string, and a strap setup to hold the fretboard vertical for easy playing. It actually is played more like a piano than a guitar or bass, though...
Who's the guy with the can who walks across the stage at :33sec :) Is he perhaps one of Zeps roadies who got lost on one of their tours and hearing the music thought he'd found his way home :) Great version tho' Me like :):)
I apologize that the production quality isn't better. This shoot was intended only as a B-roll shoot for some action footage in a different video "Stick Man." There is an edit of it up on YouTube that doesn't use this footage but there is a version being broadcast soon on Current TV that has it. I just loved this version of the song so much I posted it even with it's camera and sound flaws.
I like the arrangement, and it's wonderfully skilled playing. I hate the way he performs it. Most of the time it feels so rushed, and just not quite right.
this is amazing!!!!!!! you make that legendary song just better!!!!! it's so smooth and clean!! the cam... should be better but the sound is what count =D
I think what you are hearing may be the recording. This was captured with a camera mice 30 feet from the sound system and I had a pool pump running behind me that I had to remove with noise correction. That process can shave off some of the high end as a tradeoff for less background noise.
The Chapman stick is as clean a sound as any guitar can achieve and Michael's sound takes advantage of it.
Michael Kollwitz is what I would consider a master of the Chapman Sick. He wouldn't say so, but I think he meets most of the qualifications that average people would come up with to meet that definition. He's been playing it almost since it was invented.
The stick sound lends itself so well to "Stairway" that I just had to share it.
i personally think u have a lot of talent, especially since u play it so well on what looks like such a complicated instrument :) check mine out :p - not as classy as urs unfortunately

its a shame the camera mic is picking up more of the room than the actual instrument. Kollwitz is amazing on the Chapman Stick...

I thought it would be nice to offer something more unique than a guy in his room with a guitar and a webcam. Sorry it didn't work for you.
