To be fair, Steve Wilson himself even admitted in the beginning, he was kinda trying to be the new Pink Floyd, or at least trying to please the pink floyd fans since they werent making music at the time. But that was only in the beginning. They've obviously shifted away from that now.
@zatomek80 Yeah I definitely don't agree. His music is VERY intimate to me. I think music is universal language and different types definitely speak to different people. Steven Wilson's music most surely speaks to me. I understand what you are trying to say there, my boss felt the same way abo ut Roger Waters so I know all about that. And Robert Fripp and Steven Wilson are good friends.I feel music empathetically and everything Steven Wilson comes up with, I can say I have "felt" genuinely.
I think your theory have no sense (no offense !),not to say,but first, music is made for the pleasure of the composer, and for the audience (the real audience, people who support your music, people who listen to real music, not Justin Bieber..) They are tastes, obviously, but when I listen to PT,they inspire me a lot in the music, they make me feel good, and that's the important. I love the art of Porcupine Tree .. that's all !
@zatomek80 Check out the interview after the only live version of "gravity eyelids" that PT has here on youtube. He talks about progressive rock and what that really means and where it's going. Personally, I agree. There's not much progression to be made anymore... but I'm a musician, for me, PT is amazing because really there are so few bands out there worth listening to anymore. A lot of modern music to me is just noise. Mars Volta, Gazpacho, and PT keep my hope alive for music :) Just sayin.
No, there's no need to apologize if thats what you think. Its your opinion and you have the right to have it. I just wanted to be clear what you meant.
@zatomek80 Yeah...That makes absolutely no effing sense. But even if it did, you obviously haven't seen interviews with Steven Wilson or you would obviously come to the conclusion that pretentious is definitely the wrong word. In fact, he is quite humble. In this video in particular he's singing about chernobyl... so what if he dramatizes hundreds of people dying painful deaths and being scarred for life?
@zatomek80 So let me get this straight....because he points his fingers and performs special effects....his music loses its artistic merit, and it has no substance or message behind it? That's what you're trying to tell me?
Does he say cologne?? hahah wtf

I really like this tune in general, but feel like this version in constipated in parts. Still a brilliant track.

@zatomek80 Thanks for that... so do you like their music now, or are you just agreeing to disagree? (just out of curiousity...)
