Dirk's a great player and an even greater person. He doesn't want to be your great white hope. His heroes are Jordan and Pippen.

I've seen a lot of legendary conference final performances before and I never saw someone score 48 points on 15 shots, not even Jordan. Not only was Dirk extraordinarily efficient, he was doing it while hitting an array of fade away jumpers over a good defender in Ibaka. Everyone else in the league would have needed 25-30 shots to get 48 points... not Dirk. Easily the MVP and best player of the playoffs... there's nothing anyone can do to stop him form scoring.
u guys must realize why he didn't win in 06. go back and check the scoreboard and notice they lost a couple of games in the finals just by one point i guess when he missed a great free throw with a couple of seconds left. I don't think it talks very well of one of the best guys from the free throw line during the whole season. he is not the great player you say he is not because he does not have the skills but because he showed he cannot handle any pressure....

Dirk may finally win that ring this year. The Mavs looked set, then that nasty injury to Caron, but hopefully a certain Frenchman will come back and at least hold off that void until the 2nd round, when Caron will be ready again.

He is THE White Boy, of all times. In terms of consistency, personality, dedication and success, here is right there with John Stockton of the Utah Jazz.
Dirk is NOT one dimensional.... he can shoot from anywhere, he can post-up, he can drive, he's among the best in getting to the FT line, he's been a top 15 scorer in the last 10 years (over 21,000 points and counting), he's among the best passing big-men in the last 10 years, he's been a top 10 in defensive rebounds in the last 10 years, he's made numerous clutch plays and game-winners, and plays good defense. He's done pretty much everything (except NBA title), to secure a place in the HOF.
It sucks that dirk didn't get that title in 06. But regardless, everyone knows how dominant he is. And if you dont think so, then you haven't really watched him play. Just because he doesn't go to the hoop like lebron or kobe can, doesn't mean he isn't as talented. You cant defend the guy. Its a shame he will be retiring sometime in the near future because the mavs will miss him. Once in a lifetime player and the greatest european produced player to date... by far.

You don't have to keep the pivot foot still; you're allowed to spin around on it as long as it basically stays in the same place. Like any great player in NBA history, they develop there game as time passes. Jordan came into this league like Lebron, a pure 100% animal driving to the basket. Yet, Jordan knew he needed to develope other parts of his game, hence the post/fade away that Jordan mastered...

@oneshotki11 . Lebron refuses to change his ways, and when he loses his ability to run and jump, he will be an average player. Notice Dirk game. Notice he has an all around mastered almost flawless game. Dirk will be 100X closer to Jordan then Lebron could ever dream to be. In my mind Dirk is surely up there with Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kobe, Chamberlain and all the greats i have failed to mention. Lebron comes close, but has done nothing to be placed in that category yet.

You don't have to keep the pivot foot still; you're allowed to spin around on it as long as it basically stays in the same place. It gets tricky because sometimes players pivot off the ball of the foot and other times off the heel. Generally, referees will not blow the whistle, since tiny foot movements are neither forced by the defense nor advantageous to the offense. Only in the case of obvious dragging or jab steps will the refs make the call.
