  • where can i get this movie

  • stock up people, buy as many as you can right now. in the future these collectibles are gonna go like kicks.

  • kozik u rock!

  • if thats the case, I'm a freakin brilliant pothead, (about half right)... X)

  • "they're like the marijuana of the art world" ....

    ????

no, my friend, vinyl is crack. potheads don't line up around the block because Roor released a new bong. but man, just check the lineups for SDCC right now. shits outta control!

considering most toy makers don't even smoke pot anymore [or as much as they used to], thats a very redundantly retarded statement.

toys are the new crack. pass me da pipe.

ELECTRIK PUHA STUDIOS / VANCOUVER BC / 2010

  • Dude I had that kidrobot addiction back in the days , especially with kubricks, good stuff, you d this is jay from hunter by the way!! Good docu-topic.

  • Does anyone know where to buy vinyls in the Waterloo Region in Ontario? I have to order ALL of mine off of newbury comics dot com.

  • Nothing short of going to Toronto, comic stores get the odd thing in, grabbed some strangco at carry on in waterloo, and Stussy 400% Be@rbrick at loop clothing in the loo.

I'd be down with starting a network of buy/sell/trade though.

  • thnx man you have like really changed my name and life

i wanna find out were to get cheaper vynl

  • Thanks for this posting. I'm looking for a movie I've seen on TV...probably PBS. I think it was just called "Vinyl". It was about all these different people that collected vinyl records. Nothing's coming up under the search "vinyl". Anybody have any ideas about what the movie is called? A documentary about vinyl collectors (and the people they interview are all a little "off"). Thanks very much!!

  • lol fake designers "im a genius cuz I collect"

  • He never said he was either. And please enlighten us to what the difference is between a "fake" designer and a "real" designer.

  • really cool video friend--hugz--Brittani aka Rhonda Anthony Tanner/R.A.T. Coaching aka B-RAT :)

  • this looks awesome!!!!

  • Kaiju is rad, hand painted for the most part and made in small batches. Kidrobot stuff is for chumps.

For me what else am I going to put on a shelf next to my thousands of vinyl records? Oh f*ck I dunno vinyl toys made by punk rockers and grafitti artists seems to work well.

Also kaiju is rotocast and is toxic as hell. Destroy Everything!

  • legitimation is NOT necessary. The only difference I can see between a canvas and a toy is that one is 3D; one is not. Secondly, what are you doing? What are you trying to do here? Your argument is innately flawed because there is a huge difference between urine encased crucifixes and painted, vinyl toys. I do not need to illustrate it, either; it should be apparent to anyone with an imagination. Also, your comparison to vinyl Godzilla figures is flawed.

  • Inquiry: Are these environmentally friendly? What exactly is Vinyl derived from? How long does it take this substance to biodegrade? .... and finally, one last question: what purpose does this product serve? Thank you for your time.

  • No, they are not friendly to the environment. Would probably take a century or longer to degrade. As for the purpose, they make people happy. Just like everything else environmentalists want to destroy, they make people happy. Can't have a toy unless you make it from something. And since we can't use trees to make them, plastic petrolium products are used. Pretty simple.

  • I'm a victim to vinyl!

  • These vinyl toys are f*KING up my life, i can't stop collecting them, all my money, saving, paychecks are going to them...MY wife left me with the kids, and took everything i own, (expect my vinyl toys)...except my PRECIOUS...mmmm....Precious.

  • LOL! Love it!

I am of course assuming that you are joking.

  • ... or you could just buy some clay and make your own stuff...

  • Now see: Johnny Hallyday Mon Fils. Live. Superclip.......Spookstad.......Comment?

Just kidding, but that guy looks a lot like Jamie!

  • I'm 33.Don'nt collect them anymore but still have hudred's of them and some of them are posted on my wall from the ones when I was a kid.

  • cool

  • kidrobot is the shit. that was like $1000+ worth of stuff in that vid

  • kewl ... can't wait to see it!!

  • That looks not too engaging. I think it needs more explosions and lighting on the interview subjects. Why are they in the dark? Why am I on the Earth?

  • whoever has a myspace send me a f/r/ request

  • They just dream to be kid for one day...

  • Great Video! Everyone Please Check Out my Commercials from 1998. Please Rate them as well! It was way before reality tv, pretty funny skits and commercials!! Thank you!

  • nice

  • lolo

  • theres actually a song called vinyl frontier by abdominal and DJ phase

  • Liked the music...name plz?

  • Arstar...You and most of these other freaks are SOOOOO NEGATIVE...and by the way that guy wasn't calling himself a genius you nit-wit (and he can kick your butt). paul circus punk

  • The dude with the tattoos seriously knows what he's talking about...everybody else...eh.

  • ahhh vinyl art has now gone public on youtube...

    let the hype begin.

  • please don't begin. i like it the way it is now

  • I get all my collectors shopping done at domy books ¦D They have everything.

  • When did they shoot this? Oh well, I could have gave them access to prototypes and test shots of the Kozik and Ron English pieces. And Lev from Toy Tokyo is even snuck in. Everyone, watch out for the 2nd run of Supersize Me Minis. The white blanks were sent to Ron from Hong Kong today. He personally draws on them, and then we randomly put them into the over-all run. So 10 lucky people actually get a Ron English original. Oh well, back to work.

  • i'm gonna go buy one now.

  • sweet 0:09 thats Goldorak in the back woot!

  • sweet

  • its good show

  • This movie is going to change the world. It looks like 90 minute commercial for Kid Robot. They are going to be huge. I see everyone and their uncle going out to buy vinyl toys.

  • hey if you like this stuff, you're a materialist but a cool one, -you should watch my hyphy jem video!

  • This is The Official Miley Cyrus!! Add me and Subscribe!

  • Vinyl Frontier was a House music record store in Orlando....RIP.

  • Ha thats exactly what I thought of as well. It was a great store.

  • -YTUser2012

If it makes it more tasty who cares?

  • \s yhyik

  • verrrrrrrry good

  • LOL, I love vinyl, I know that sounds weird but it's so versitile. Also, My brother used to callect alot of vinyl Todd McFarlen figures, Like spawn, They were nice.

  • so cute ... where can buy??

  • OK... I hate to be a politically correct asswipe here, but gee-whiz: Here is an art form created by people in Hong Kong, inspired by --and paying tribute to-- the great, classic, vintage toys from Japanese legends such as Bullmark, Marmit, Marusan, and Popy... And, um, exactly how many Asian names or faces did we see in this video?

  • I mean, damn. At least in "The Fast and the Furious," the Asians got to briefly appear on-screen as evil villians.

  • Oh please...That argument is getting old...really stale. How man Japanese artists were just hanging around in the US where the kid that made this thing is probably fun?

Get off the Japanese vinyl high horse for a few seconds and just ENJOY.

Paul Circus Punk (yeah - at least i sign my posts!)

  • Paul, "at least i sign my posts!"??? Am I missing something? I mean, my friggin' YouTube screen name is attached to every comment I post. From there, any fool could learn my real name if they halfway cared. Or maybe I'm not understanding you, and that's not what you were getting at?

  • Don't get me wrong here: I AM the proud owner of a Jim Woodring Dorbel, (mine's purple), I DID pay way too much for it, and I simply HAD to take it out of its bag so I could play with it.

  • this trailer was done before i interviewed both thomas han and luke chueh- both awesome asian artists.

  • I stand corrected, and am ready for my crow sandwich.

  • thats Haze XXL? cool :P i have his 8" cy-bear qee :)

also, you guys don't know what you are talking about! they arn't toys, it's art! but i also thank you, becouse it becouse of people like you that designer toys wil never be main stream!

    i have spoken :)

  • Wow, it is very sad how all of the "video responses" actually have nothing to do with this documentary; they are only the shameful self-promotional attempts of dozens of YouTube assholes.

P.S.-Ron English is kind of awesome.

  • Heh heh...you said it! What's sadder is once that camera was trained on each one, how much they enjoyed being able to expound on this crap.

  • why are these vids featured? who decides? and WHYYYY?

  • ok let s have sum fun xxxxx

  • I like picking it up and playing with it. Kinda like my new video. except my video sux.

  • yea, they are nerds, why would someone want to do that? makes no sence, need to find a new hobby

  • these people are just trying to justify playing with toys

  • i agree

  • cool im in the part at the acteca party! cool!

  • !!! love me some creative nothings

  • remind me why this is featured?

  • i saw one that i had in "00:03" seconds in the video and its even in the video i have called "bored"

  • this was pretty neat...i like the fact that u can be so creative

  • Geeez, I'm a collector, but even I can see that this stuff is junk. Okay, well what they showed on the video. How embarrasing.

  • I prefer artists to let their art be the focus of interest, not themselves. Someone sitting around talking about how interesting and genius they are doesnt interest me.

    Cool stuff though.

  • this could have been interesting, but it wasn't

    1 star

  • that guy was calling himself a genius now?

  • boring

  • Pfft, fuck you. Go screw your mom.

  • i love those things

i bought a couple once and painted them my self

i converted one into a cthulu figurine

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooo

    that rocks!

  • These things are Beanie Babies for the Hipster set. Their value is determined by the manufacturers. Save your money and buy some real art.

  • hmmm some notable graff writers in there...of course most of them are affiliated with Kid Robot and other design toys companies

  • does anyone know what the music in the backround is?

  • "Vertigo" by Booka Shade.

  • This seems like a very interesting film. I've always wanted to go into collecting vinyl pieces, they've always peaked by interest, but I don't have any money to spare, and they're not readily available where I live. I'll be sure to check out the full documentary when it comes out.

  • wat leuk...

  • I have always ALWAYS wanted to get into vynal collecting, or even start vynal sculpture of my own.

I admire those who do. Love this video!
