No, they are not friendly to the environment. Would probably take a century or longer to degrade. As for the purpose, they make people happy. Just like everything else environmentalists want to destroy, they make people happy. Can't have a toy unless you make it from something. And since we can't use trees to make them, plastic petrolium products are used. Pretty simple.

I prefer artists to let their art be the focus of interest, not themselves. Someone sitting around talking about how interesting and genius they are doesnt interest me.
This seems like a very interesting film. I've always wanted to go into collecting vinyl pieces, they've always peaked by interest, but I don't have any money to spare, and they're not readily available where I live. I'll be sure to check out the full documentary when it comes out.
