I think SE's choices for new characters for the new Dissidia are appropriate. FFV playable characters are very generic and not very memorable. FFVI has too many characters and Terra vs Ceres is a toss-up. Barret vs Laguna is a toss-up, Yuna vs Garnet vs Rydia is also a toss-up, Tifa is obviously a better choice to Zell, Sabin, Yang, etc..

Arguably Dissidia lacks a true 'ninja' class character, such as Edge or Yuffie. But FFIV and FFVII both received extra characters so it doesn't seem right.

@OhGodNo666 Well, I don't think Lenna, Galuf and Cara were really anything too special. Lenna was...run-of-the-mill Princess Who Joins The Hero To Save The World, Galuf was the Wise Old Wizard With Amnesia (see Tella from FFIV, btw) and Cara was a generic Superpowered Kid Hero. At least, none of them really made a lasting impact on me the way Faris did; I feel she was by far the deepest character in the game. Not to mention, the coolest 'cause pirates are cool (duh). Just my opinion, though.

As for characters... No one else uses "Elemental Swords" in DFF...

I liked Steiner, because you could use "Fira Sword"

@VulcanHeStan a true fira or thundaga etc sword nobody else has ever used that the closest i could think is tidus/auron (or junctioning or equipping element type materia onto the the weapon but its no the same) they had fire swords but not a spell enchanted like steiner but then again he could only use that command when vivi is in the party btw i understand why ppl want vivi in dissidia imagine dbl black magic casting thundaga and firaga at the same time or blizzaga and flare etc shantotto<vivi

Vivi can only get up to Double-Casting his Magic...

Shantotto's spells grow stronger with her, and she can chain up to three of them...

Tidus is already in-game...

And, Frankly, I like the idea of Steiner...

He's always been one of my favourite FF characters...

Think of this too: There's only 2 characters from IX, and most of the others got a couple of allies added...

Spell for spell, Vivi is stronger, yes, but Shanty can use 3 at a time...

It's mainly a personal preference...

My favourite spellcaster has to be Celeste from VI...

My favourite period is Sabin from Vi, Zell from VIII, and Amrant from IX...

Not to big on Yuffie, but that's because every time I go to look for a decent fight video, she's over sexualized...

@Near5espada That's the point! Gabranth and Kefka are insanely nasty in ExMode, and combining them both with Ex Critical Boost makes Chaos wet his pants. With the Genji Equipment, and "Close to You", I can get and stay in ExMode long enough to break my foes more than twice an ExForme.
