  • I am not a religious person .. but this is what Jesus would do or Buddha would do .. love your enemy which we did not see when we toured Australia in 2008 .. well since then we are 2-1 and 3-1 winning .. proud to be a Sri lankan where people don not care for vanity..

  • HOW MANY MORE DID HE GET WHEN HE CAME BACK

  • So much respect

  • haha australians would never recall anyone to the wicket

  • I've always liked the Sri Lankans. Great sportsmen, awesome fans and players that never over-react or get hostile. Always a pleasure to host them here in Australia.

  • Who actually won the game?

  • I've always thought Sri Lanka post-Ranatunga were along with NZ the best team in the world when it came to sportsmanship (I'm an Australian btw)

  • SMASHED it.

  • Shut up indian commentator it was not the umpire who recalled him!

  • This is a great match.I traveled almost 100km to Dambulla by bus to watch it.To see likes of Hayden(highest test scorer those days),GIlly,Beven(I think this is his penulitimate match)was great.I thought SL would lost this mach when Ponting and Hyd on so I suggested my friend to off the ground as we had to travel. But he refused for good, SL won the match by 1 run thanks for wonderful last over by Vass.We were lucky to get the last bus.Great upload rob.Nice memories.

  • Also, I think it was a rumor spread by the English Media that it was Sachin's decision. Dravid said Dhoni consulted the team in the dressing room and everybody agreed that Bell should be recalled. I would take Dravid's word on this.

  • Not trying to spread any hatred but I would like to point a difference between Dhoni's decision and Atapattu's decision. Here according to the rules, Symonds was not out, however Bell was by the book out. He carelessly walked off even though ball was still in play. Now recalling someone who is actually out displays more sportsmanship than recalling someone who was not out.

Either way both are good gestures. Let's just appreciate the gestures and leave the person out of it.

  • @skhv2607 no, recalling someone who's by the book out is a good gesture. recalling someone who's not out, who you could easily have sent back to the pavilion and sat back and celebrated, that is a great gesture. so while dhoni's might've been good, atapattu was even greater: all he had to do was let symonds walk back and say no more, but he actually went up and called him back

  • Seriously, there's no glory in winning if your not going to play fair. I was really annoyed watching Aus vs India recently, India refusing to use a referral system and going up for ANY pad before wicket. They got away with a couple of outs that won't even right.

  • how come gilchrist and hayden went out with the score at 4 down they used to open together

  • Good sportsmanship.

  • The more I play cricket with Sri Lankans, the more I like their sportsmanship and class.

  • Anybody recalls when Srikanth was judged LBW against Waqar Younis and he started begging to the umpire that there was a edge (Gavaskar Like). Imran Khan called him back and few balls later he nicked one behind the stumps and then shamefully walked.

*and NO he didn't try to take his partner with him.

  • wait im still not sure, he smashes it into his pads?

  • Cheers to Atapattu from an Aussie. Wish more cricketers were like you, including those from my own country

  • @tosgem liked this comment because this is what I was going to say.

  • well don marvin atapattu

  • Sri Lankans are always known for their good sportsmanship

  • who's the Australian commentator in this clip? Voice sounds familiar. Pretty sure he also commentated in the India/Australia ODI series in 2009.

  • @TheAusJT Bruce Yardley.

  • Monkey gets a second chance.

  • @Theamar12345

wow ur a clever one arent u

  • Both Umpire and Ian Bell do not know the rules of Cricket :)

Btw, Ian Bell played for MCC. Facepalm!

  • Great sportsmanship by Atapattu. There should be more of it in the game.

  • Wow marvin atapatuu great sportsmanship

  • bloody monkey

  • @samcomposer who are you referring to, Symonds?

  • Atapattu - true class shown here. Top batsman too although he'd make a duck or a double hundred!

  • Unlike in this case where Symonds is not out, Ian bell was out

  • I'm sure srilankans are still have this sportsmanship since Marven is our batting coach...

  • That's some phenomenal sportsmanship. My respects to Atapattu. If only more sportsmanship like this went around the world of cricket

  • True class shown there

  • Great stuff

  • Never seen this before, thanks Rob.

Nice to see such a blatantly bad decision be overturned, personally I wouldn't have though

  • great sportsmanship :)

  • Great to see- fanatstic example of the spirit of cricket. Credit where it is due, lovely gesture from Atapattu

  • Ironic that Dharmasena is now an umpire.

  • Atapattu's kindness leads his team to victory in this match by one run

  • Good to see but there is no way that particualar Australia team would do the same aye..

  • You Indian supporters and your comments about walking make me laugh! Nobody is under any obligation to walk and that's why just about every batsman in the world waits for the umpire's decision - that's what the umpire is there for, sometimes they get it wrong but really, more than most of the time they are really good. Just enjoy the game and stop bringing up conspiracy theories.

  • Atapattu was clearly generous on this day. The only player worthy of benefitting from this generosity is Gilly. If you refuse to walk, take the rough with the smooth.

And Dhoni pussed out. Bell was an idiot and his idiocy should've been punished. In the Ind-WI series, Baugh cheaply stumped Laxman well after Chanderpaul bowled an innocuous ball outside off stump. Laxman was loafing around his crease afterwards, then Baugh stumped him when his foot was hovering. It was cheap but there are rules.

  • Gilchrist returned the favour :P

  • i must say great gesture by srilankan.....yea i agree Dhoni incident was unfortunate but atleast indians showed sportsman spirit it's not like Australian who claims dropped catches

  • to all dumb cricket fans,

atapattu's show of spirit overshadows MS Dhoni's during England Tour. Know why? Cuz, atapattu called symonds back right after watching the darn replays and didn't take advice from ppl around him like Dhoni did from Tendulkar's urges.

  • @dilkashh 100% agree mate. Dhoni was asked if he wanted to recall Bell *numerous* times on the field by the umpired and wouldn't change his mind, then they asked him off the field and he say duo, but then Sachin grabbed Dhoni by the balls and only then did Dhoni change his mind. Spirit of cricket my asshole, more like the spirit of Sachin.

  • @robelinda2

drop msd. he is too overrated like lsd. bring in a new captain. probably MEEEEEE :) hahahahaha jk jk. But, in all reality Rob, Sachin smoothed that ugly incident out for the Indian team, yet he played like utter trash. Mishra's 80 something was more entertaining than the sloppy 91 or whatever it was. I liked Cook's 294 and all the other monumental scores from KP and Bell to Prior's lower order contributions. I found them exciting. But, besides Mr. Dependable Dravid, Indians sucked.

  • @robelinda2 When Aussies do it thn talk. Aussies only talk abt d spirit of d game whn it suits thm. I hav seen numerous vids hearing Aussies asking d batman 2 walk, but would they walk even if thy clearly edged 1 to first slip. I see them edge one to first slip, clean catch and yet standing there like dumb fucks. And if you r comparing this incident wid d one in England, then u are a fool. Here he was notout so he was called back, thr he was out yet called back, no matter how much time he took.

  • @robelinda2 True that. Please don't even get me started on the Indians mate.. im young and want to maintain my health by not plunging into blood pressure related diseases..

    For Attapatu. One word. Gentleman.

  • @dilkashh Marvan Atapattu hereby does not shows his spirit of the game by recalling Andrew Symond. Who is he to Recall back an out player. I think he want to be a great to the world by doing such very easy job. A mis judgement is a part of any game. So we shoiuld respect the umpire decission allawas. But it is not good way to recall any player who declared out by umpire and the player who once declare out by umpire should not also to come back with the direction of opponent partner.

  • @PINKUARTHA

dude. umpires aren't 100percent legit. i understand you have to respect the umpire's decision, but that doesn't mean you continue to take all their bullshit even after they make horrible decisions.....there is a time when you can step up and defend your team, etc....AND YOUR ENGLISH IS SO FUCKING BAD THAT I FEEL LIKE FINDING OUT WHO YOU ARE AND BURNING YOU ALIVE WITH YOUR OWN MOTHER'S COOKING OIL YOU FILTHY CUNTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dilkashh

Anyway its may be true that the umpire decision may not go always in your favour. But for this, you beg kind grace from the opponent captain???!!! I think its too much funny. Really it shows a team spirit???!!!

  • @dilkashh

You bloody cool , think your self as a good english man?

    and talking of my mother..........

Bara Homochoda....... I wlll fuck you......

  • @PINKUARTHA

Its may be true that my english is not so good. But you are not also to be think yourself as an english man. It is not the place to show your debt in english. You are not the master at all who will teach me the proper english. Your language is also very rough. I don't know who was your teacher to taught you such slang language.

  • @dilkashh Isnt there a difference here. Symonds was not out given out, so he called him back. Ian Bell was out and by his own mistake, taking on the role of the umpire, and was run not, and was still called back, so I dont see how this would overshadow Dhoni's decision.

  • @harshkalra90

you don't make sense. symonds was given out by umpire. attapattu was like 'ummm.....that's not out" and calls symonds back. what about that do we not agree upon?

  • @dilkashh I agree with u that Attapattu did a good deed here. But the two situations can not be compared. See here you know he is not out so ok I bring him back, good. But if know someone is out, is it that easy to call him back. So saying that Attapatu called him back instantly and Dhoni took his time is not fair. He had to decide to bring back a batsman who was out, but not to a poor decision, but his mistake. It is pretty much same as calling back a guy who you bowled over.

  • @harshkalra90

Of course they can be compared. BOTH players in BOTH situations were given out after being appealed for out by opposing team......marvin just simply watches a reply and is like "omfg the ump's a shit dummy.....that was clearly not out......i'll call him back so my players can take him out properly". dhoni was like "shit shit guys we don't want him back or he'll keep scoring runs on us". get the picture?

  • @harshkalra90

and, it is about the spirit of the game. vettori in recent test matches ran into someone who was run out, but chose not to appeal for it. that is boss. an earned wicket is better than sneakishly pussily getting a batsman out because of tech error: he's out of his crease and it's about to be lunch and he runs him out.....PUSSY is what i tell u.

  • @dilkashh @dilkashh No dumbass. Symonds was given out, but was not out. Bell was out, and was given out. Are that fucking stupid. And it seems you dont no much about cricket. It was not a tech error. It was Bell taking the role of the umpire. He thought that the fielder in the deep dint save the boundary and continued to run, whras is partner clearly was stopping him. He should have waited for the ump declare it a 4 or not and let the ball be dead.

  • @harshkalra90

in the spirit of the game, was bell out? no. now, go rot in hell. he got out like fifteen minutes after he came back out. now, go to hell. you are a bad apple on this channel. telling me i don't know much about cricket. wtf was dhoni on during that tour? WHY DID HIS KEEPING SUCK IN THAT ENGLISH TOUR? WHY DID HE NOT CATCH A LOT OF LOLLIPOP CATCHES TO DISMISS ENGLISH BATSMEN? WHY DID HE NOT BAT WELL???????????? don't fucking comment on comments that are top u bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dilkashh Yes he was out. Bell had no rite to assume that the ball is dead, and its a 4. That is the job of the umpire. In fact Bell should have been booked for this. So dont teach me the spirit of the game. U seriously dont know much about the game. And u talk like a kid, see my comment is on top, I give a fuck about whose comment is on top.

  • @harshkalra90

Your comment is not top. Your comment has gotten no thumps up or ratings. My comment to which you replied to did have a lot of thumbs up!!!!!!!! Now, don't comment on top comments of a video, you dumb bitch! and, seriously, it was about to be lunch, just go get a life and cut your dick off cuz you didn't get bell out. now, be happy that west indies are getting raped. also, you are a dumb indian and i am ashamed of you. i do know alot about the game. what's glenn ave w/e bangla?

  • @dilkashh Like I said I give a fuck about whose comment is on top. U are talking like a 5 year old. whether is was going to be fucking lunch or not, he should have waited for the umpires to call it lunch, they hadnt called it the was still in play. He was and shld have been out bcoz he dint no d rules of d game. Plus it was a violation of ICC's code of conduct, whr he disregards the umpires decision, here being tat the ump had not yet called for lunch or said that the over was over. So FUCK off.

  • @dilkashh And seriously, the way you talk shows your level of intelligence so dont call me dumb, u cock sucking bitch. Why dont you go learn something about the game and maybe then we will talk, in another 4-5 years, when u might get a little gist of the game.

  • @dilkashh And if u r talking bout being a pussy then Sangakara is the real pussy. Remember the World Cup final toss, bitch. He clearly had called it the first time, but when there was a confusion on wat he said, he dint clarify his decision, I mean others dint hear it but he should have known what he said. He had clearly lost the toss their thus he dint say anything. So dont talk about being a PUSSY when ur country has Pussies instead of lions.

  • @harshkalra90

america has pussies instead of lions?

and, wtff are you on about? i am talking about symonds and dhoni, and your bitch ass brings sanga. i don't even care about sanga. what does world cup have to do with this? that is odi. i don't like odi. i don't follow odi. i am not even sri lankan you dumb bitch. i don't even like lanka you bitch! i think murali chucks you dumb bitch! i think you are mad that my comment has a lot of likes you dumb bitch! i

  • Watch The Great IMRAN KHAN Giving Chance Sreekanth. After That The Next Ball He Got Out AgainLOL.HAHAHA

  • @vMrMysteriousv So does every team, even India. Tendulkar has refused to walk many times, pretty unfair to single out Australia dude. There are very few if any walkers these days. If Tendulkar doesn't walk then no-one should.

  • @robelinda2

i remember when gilly would walk off even if there was a slight nick. i call that a spirit player. or, gilly is like, "that's out to me, i should go before i stay and cause such ruckus that these guys might kill me if i score another century from like 30 balls" lmao. gilly was da man. if he opened with viv, that's destruction.

  • @robelinda2 I wanna say that both indian and australian players are very stubborn on the pitch and are self righteous

  • @robelinda2 This WAS ONE OF THE BEST GAME OF CRICKET

ROBE DO YOU HAVE FULL GAME?

  • @robelinda2 Gilly always walked

  • @robelinda2 agree. On a side note, fancy an Indian cricket fan taking the moral high ground when the current Indian tour is refusing to use the DRS - which is adequately supported through reliable technology in Australia. A cynic would think it supports their aggressive and sustained campaign of pressure on umpires through over appealing. But I'm not a cynic... The current Indian 11 should refuse to take the field until the ICB accept DRS.

  • @robelinda2 just put up a video of tendulkar not walking but staying on the wicket. When it comes to cheating, aussies are pathological cheaters. Cant help it, but its in the blood.

  • @bavarebava I already have uploaded a video of Tendulkar not walking it has 50,000 views.

  • @vMrMysteriousv You are one to talk, you blokes complain when decisions don't go your way, you complain and say the other team is cheating, but when decisions do go your way and someone else makes a comment, you accuse them of being sore losers.

  • @vMrMysteriousv Perhaps your blokes shouldn't have been calling him a monkey.

  • @vMrMysteriousv He would've walked if it was against Sri Lanka. The difference is that Indians are curry munching assholes and Sri Lankans are good people.

  • @NickWatcher dickhead!!!! V indians r d world champions !! lankans r sick bitches....ths video was long bak... v witnessed lankan sportsmanship in the recent games.... delivering a noball to prevent sehwag hitting a century?!! lankan SOBs keep watching...sehwags next doubleton will b against u lankan bitches!!!

  • @deepanvishalt First of all, that India are world champions doesn't have anything to do with my comment or this vid. Second of all, Indians only became world champions, because of cheating. I remember Sehwag called of the field after 10 overs almost every match. Also, learn to write proper English. V isn't a word. It shows the average education of Indians. BTW about Randiv's no ball, I have the same comment. No one will ever be compassion with you slum living, curry munching assholes.

  • @NickWatcher lmao! u from oxford r any fucking university?! speaking abt grammar?! and u r so stupid to determine education quality by jus a comment.??? asshole!!! tht shows hw stoooopid u r!!!! indians ll soon on top of d world!

  • @deepanvishalt Ok, you just wrote u r, in stead of r u, jus instead of just. Abbrevations my ass, your grammar really sucks, so I think I'm pretty right about your education. Just sell your computer, so you finally have something to eat.

  • @NickWatcher awks because the grammatical construction of this post is awful, especially for someone who probably grew up in an English speaking country. Also, your blatant racism is far more humiliating/disgraceful on your part than someone who lacks the ability to write fluently in a language that isn't their primary one.

  • Comment removed

  • @transientsonata You can't be more wrong. I'm Dutch, not racist and I wrote it at 2 o'clock in the morning.

  • @deepanvishalt lololololololol!!

    also lankans?

  • hmm doesn't look that bad of a shout.... but kudos to attapatu

i remember something similar happening when imran khan allowed ravi shastri to come back after an lbw shout after he complained and he got out 2 balls later LOL

  • This is the difference between Indians and Sri lankans!

  • Well I wouldn't say he 'smashed it'. To be fair it didn't deviate much. But it's nice to see some sportsmanship though.

  • Great hope Indians like Gavaskar sees this now now they are making Dhoni look like the greatest ever saint, this was far far better

  • You would never see an Aussie do that. Symonds was probably too drunk to see the graciousness of this gesture.

  • any other team the commentor wouldnt had mention anything the would jus say thats cricket an umpire has finnal say

  • @robelinda2 brother cant u upload this entire match????????/

  • I think aussies should show this example for their kids and listen to commentary as well. So at least their next generation will not be cheaters..

  • Ummm, I am pretty sure that the ball hit his pads without any inside edge. But all the players and the unpires were convinced that it was an inside edge! Strange.

  • true sportsmanship, should be praised

  • If Marvan Atapatu called him back, he has let his team down. The Aussies would never call anyone back. Very silly. If the umpire initiated it, then that is awesome, more of it, don't let the ego get in the way.

  • @Mladenovski28 In Buddhism which is the religion of most of the Sri Lankans, there is a saying,

"Hatred does not cease by hatred...". So we practice that irrespective of what others do.

  • @buddhikas Mate don't use this one incident to make blanket statements. if that was the case every time an opposition player was wrongly given out the Sri Lankan's should have called him back.

  • @Mladenovski28 that does not mean each and every thing will recalled... so don't do blanket statements. This incident show the sportsmen is more important than winning. Aussies will never do it because they are infamous for the bad behavior all the time. Including under arm ball to having scosh ball hidden inside the glow by Gilchrist in world cup final for better grip. So that is the difference between aus players and sl players.

  • @malakautube Actually it does man that every thing should be recalled, you are either consistent or not. And the squash ball? WTF?? That is very lame, nothing illegal about the squash ball.

  • @Mladenovski28 I am not an international cricketer by any means, but at whatever level I've played, the priority remains the same. In respective order:

    1) The game

    2) Your team

    3) Yourself

The team is NOT above the spirit of the game. If a bloke is proven to be not out, then he must be called back. It's not a fair wicket and as a bowling team, we'd feel that we did nothing to deserve it. As captain and a custodian of the great game's honourable traditions, what Atapattu did was right.

  • @Imrankniazi That's a fair comment, but cricket is not a gentleman's game anymore, unfortunately. These traditions aren't really the priority in the cutthroat nature of test match cricket.

  • @Mladenovski28 It's upto each man to make that decision. Whenever I take field (club or U-17 or U-19 or school teams in the past), I would be upholding the game's spirit. Or stop playing altogether.

I may be wrong, but the optimist in me thinks that majority of international Test players feel similarly.

  • Wish this happened more often. Too often the umpires and opposition players realize that a mistake has been made and everyone just "has to get on with it" which is not right with all the technology we have out there in the game.

  • Wow. Now that's what I call sporting.

    This is refreshing to see!

  • how is the score 190 after 40 overs with gilly still out there??

  • @TopGearDog431 Gilly batted down the order for that match.

  • @robelinda2 Thanks man, show this to Harsha Bholge and Gavaskar they think Dhoni did something never done in history

  • @Malaseen You aint kidding man, truly embarrassing stuff from the Star Sports guys. Especially Ravi and Sunil, their rant are the stuff of unstable minds on the verge of a meltdown. How awesome was it when Nasser got his own back on Ravi, after Ravi's rant the day before. The extreme arrogance on display from the Indians is on a different level entirely to that of WI or Australia during their prime. Im quite sire WI or Aus didn't think they own the game.

  • @robelinda2 Exactly and about the incident Marvan here and Andrew Strauss when Mathews was recalled when he collided with Onions did it in a matter of seconds, yet Gavaskar laughing that Strauss will never do a such thing, and it is embarrassing how Bholge says the captains are now pressurized, and England players should walk, Ganguly was the only unbiased commentator, and I really feel for you if you are watching the match in ESPN star

  • @robelinda2 What did ravi say and how did nasser get his own back? Not sure what they said about the Bell Incident.

  • @dhully007 Not about the Bell incident, Ravi had a rant saying Nasser and others are jealous of India's great test team, IPL,money, and Nasser got his own when both were commentating together, The Bell Incident disgraceful commentaries were coming from Gavaskar and Harsha, who were talking as if no one has ever done such a thing ever in history, Gavaskar insulted Strauss saying he will never recall anyone, when he has done something better in recalling Angelo Mathews, comparing with walking etc

  • I am not sure about horrrrrrible. I have seen much worse decisions. And I am not even sure about Attapatu's decision to call him back.

  • not as bad decision as commentator barking

  • I agree this was an ordinary decision. But if you watch it live, it does look pretty good actually. I'v been given out plenty of times in junior cricket for ones like that and I didn't get recalled :( lol

  • this was a terrific game... went down to the last ball...

  • @sjperera Who won?

  • @bablu1994

Sri Lanka won the game... Vaas bowled an impressive over to Symmonds and Bevan who needed I think 8-9 to win was it 6? He was called "Dr. Death" by Dean Jones after that...
