Neither party stands for anything except staying in power. Both support corporate America at the expense of the populace. Both claim the moral high ground when it's convenient and both are committed to waving the American flag as long as they don't have to serve in the military or pay taxes.
@cporgie That's an excellent example of modern day political parties on both sides. This is a nice message showing that it didn't used to be that way; Especially in the 1950s and 1960s.
ahhh so if i was living on the Right side of the united states, and was say a demrocrat what that be considered weird or looked down upon, or doesnt matter what side you live on and who you vote for. So im guessing one of theparties are more so for the people or more so for the wealthy, or is one party more based on race for exaple most demrocrats are white or black or republicans are white or black.
@SUKKES Well, I'd say the parties are quite diverse since they both have over 50 million registered members. Historically, the Democratic party has been more popular with minorities and urban residents. Democrats have strong membership in the New England states, and to a lesser extent, the Midwestern states. Republicans have a reputation of being more religious and patriotic. They have strong support in the Southern states and in rural areas.
@SUKKES I am an American and im a registered Republican I admit. I have followed politics for years. To answer your question, I have no fucking clue what either party stands for anymore.
@maxpowers518 - Hoover also said Sinatra had ties to Giancana, Marcello (who I think was involved in the assassination) etc. Sinatra knew who killed JFK. He never spoke about it. Ever.
@maxpowers518 FAS was emotional, but he wasn't that emotional. If he were emotional enough to change party affiliation he would definitely not have been pro-Reagan. When you think of an older Sinatra think about this "Love is something more splendid than mere kindness"
Sinatra was American. He wasn't partisan, he was American.......... kindness be damned.
Actually, I think JFK & RFK were right to drop Sinatra as a friend. This "snub" happened after Hoover came to JFK with the Judith Exner revelation about her association with Giancana. I think that the Kennedy brothers wondered if the mob was using Sinatra to set JFK up. That would be enough to drop him right there even if he was innocent. Too bad, great singer, but had to go.
lasafueras is right. He was snubbed after all he did for JFK. Dean Martin had warned him the Kennedys were users, and that he should keep his distance. Another aspect was the political one: watch Kennedy's 1962 speech to the Economic Club of New York. He was a supply-sider, and enacted tax-cuts to stimulate economic growth. Also, he had an open and healthy streak of anti-Communism. He was essentially a modern Conservative. He and Reagan were not far apart.
The Rat Pack's music was indeed meant for JFK glamorous, witty and classy, having being an elite bachelor with elite friends Sinatra in the 40's and 50's,that's JFK.
You gotta admit it was a great jingle but for the wrong guy. Apparently dean Martin told frank one day do you know what the fuck you are doing? He's gonna screw ya. Boy was Dean Martin right
@maxpowers518 Sinatra was actually a good friend of top mobster Sam Giancana. I also doubt the counterculture movement caused his shift. Sinatra never endorsed a Republican until 1970, when he endorsed his old Hollywood pal Ronald Reagan for a second term as Governor of California. It was the fact that he never got over Kennedy's refusal to stay at his home that indeed led to his shift to the Republican Party. He just waited until time was right in 1972, when Nixon was apparently unstoppable
@lasafueras Sinatra never publicly endorsed a Republican until 1970, when he endorsed Reagan for a second term as Governor of California. He obviously never got over the fact that Kennedy refused to stay at his Palm Springs home when Kennedy visited California in 1962. Sinatra spent a lot of his own money to renovate his home in anticipation of Kennedy's visit, but Kennedy chose to stay at Bing's home. Sinatra's friendship with top mobsters, like Sam Giancana, made him a liability to Kennedy.
And how did "Jack" repay Frank? By installing his brother as US AG to go after his mobster friends who peddled their influence in the unions to get him elected. It almost got Frank whacked in the process. Fortunately for Frank, the "boys" decided to off Jack and Bobby instead.
I would blame another person, Hoover. Hoover hated Bobby and told him he was aware that Frank Sinatra had mobster friends. That was the end of Jack holidaying with Frank. Its easy to blame JFK/RFK but Hoover gets off far too easy in a lot of things. Frank was devastated but I think he knew what was going on. If you were around in those days you had to be very careful.
N9UWR has high hopes also in his race for Fort Wayne Radio Club Vice-President !!!!!! He will make such progress that the radio club will soar to new heights of RADIO accomplishments !!!! JOHN has very HIGH HOPES !!!!!!
Fabulous song for JFK !!!!!!! The Greatest President ever along with FDR who invented the Social Security and Disability Programs ! Lyndon Johnson is Great also for getting the Medicare Program passed through and implemented !
And let's not forget that it was JFK's father who helped FDR to become the Presidential candidate for the Democartic Party. JFK's father for a great part made the New Deal possible.

The irony of all that was that JFK's dad, Joe, was as much in bed with the mob as Frank was.
