  • Has anyone looked into silverstripe?

  • you are not a fan because you are not a developer or web designer, drupal and joomla are great CMS!!!

  • It really not that hard to use, takes a few days to get the hang of it. Sometimes it is confusing though, it took me a while to get the idea that articles are going to be all the pages pretty much.

  • You're definitely not alone Chris. I tried skinning a theme for Joomla way back when and just never got into it since it wasn't very inviting. It will take a few months to wrap your head around a big framework such as joomla or drupal, but honestly, I'd go with wordpress everytime if it "could" fit the bill.

  • Joomla is probably like a bad math student (using myself as an example, lol). It seems to hold a lot of potential, but it often complicates tasks more than they need to be. xD

I love wordpress and that's what I'm using now. I'd like to drupal/express engine later.

  • Joomla is a good platform, quite powerful, but I think still lacks the ability to change the design easily. in my opinion Drupal is far more user friendly when it comes to design, for some, it may still be difficult nonetheless.

  • I thought I was the only one that though Joomla was difficult.

I got a guide on it and it was still complicated.

People just want a simple way to setup links and pages.

  • I have used both Joomla and WordPress extensively and I love them both for what they do in their field. Yes I agree that Joomla is not user friendly at times but there are so many people willing to help it is unbelievable.

  • Joomla and Drupal are still far more userfriendly than something like Typo3, and i speak out of experience! If i would decide between Joomla and Typo3,I would use Joomla. Now, I know there is a big community around Typo3, but I just want to use a CMS and not code around it.

  • I recently had a chance to develop some components for joomla. From programmer's perspective I can say that it's not really user-friendly and it's quite hard to develop it. As Chris said in the video - I change or look for something in one place, and it turns out (after multiple files of code) I have to modify other file. So it's programmer's nightmare (for me at least :) )

  • "usability is usually the last thing on a developer's mind"

Absolutely. As soon as developer's get a hold of something they love, they start programming it for themselves, as a group, not for anyone else who would choose to use the platform. Their motto is, "catch up", which kind of seems less "open" than open source was originally intended to be.

  • Joomla is overcomplicated, unintuitive and very ass-backwards. I code my own CMS and for blogs - WP all the way. Joomla and Mambo - both suck (they are pretty much the same anyway).

  • I use wordpress. I like it.

  • I've looked at about 40-50 CMSs this year, and I've been using CMS Made Simple for the past 7 months, and I absolutely love it! It's clean and straight forward, and you spend time actually using the CMS, instead of trying to learn how to use the CMS.

It's been a true blessing and joy to use!

  • The most impressive CMS I've ever used interface wise was Xoops.

  • Give me Wordpress any day. Its not just for blogs my friend.

  • The same thing could be said about PHP.

  • Chris, wordpress is barely just a blogging platform anymore.. I have built full blown websites using it. It is great!

  • lame like you chriss

  • 2:43 Audio quality seems to change lol

  • Totaly agree! You gotta try MODx. Far out the best, most user friendly, and most customisable open source cms!

  • could you ceep a higher quality of your videos insted of recording the low quality ustream

if you agree thumb up so he can se it! =D

  • woah... the sound got better in the last third of the video...

  • ok I won't use joomla thanks for your opinion on the generator I will stick to wordpress for my website.

  • good info Chris

  • Joomla is an insecure clusterfuck of a CMS, regardless of user-friendliness.

  • What do you think of pro stores?

  • Chris doesnt like anything that isnt user friendly. I love things that are UNuser friendly, its more of a challenge.

  • @nobodypersonsomeone yeah, tell that to your clients

  • Keep in mind, this is from a Mac users mind. Where every experience should be tailored for /retards

  • @nickert0n Shut up you ass!!

I'm a Mac user and I like Joomla, I really think it's a good platform, and it is easy to learn, it's just a matter of using your common sense.

  • Joomla rocks! I like it better than wordpress. Beef up your troubleshoot skills. LOL

  • Check out MODx CMS.

  • Jumala not user friendly

    WP User Friendly

    Agree

  • Well people are doing alot more on Wordpress than creating blogs. I think we can compare it Joomla....

  • "User Fiendly" is wrong term... you should know that... correct word is "Usable" (I had a whole module about this in my first year in University)

  • Why is the sky blue?

  • I know I'm going to catch a bunch of crap for this, but I absolutely love Concrete5 as a CMS. Very user friendly.

  • Drupal is awesome, but have so bloated code.. :/

  • spot on... the user friendly lacks..

  • I like waffles

  • aww man...

  • @pivotter1 whoa that's sad because that's probably the highlight of your day!
