As a career ion implant technician, having worked with Extrion and Varian, and especially on NOVA and Eaton equipment, I can very much appreciate this man's words. He's a legend in the field. What he says about the differences between PhDs and technicians on the equipment is absolutely factual. If you want the tool broken, bring in a high level engineer and have him try to set up and a process on his own.
Turns out, madamrotten...we are way superior to that "shipping company" and we continue to rule the implant world!

Amazing! IIS, i.e., Ion Implant Services, my original employer (1981!) was the pioneer of implant as a service--I hear they are still around!
