  • Oh for my youth

  • when all children can hold hands...one day this will be.

  • I agree, lovely song, seemed like a nice bloke too, the world certainly does need a reality check, if peace, love and good vibes are now so out of fashion!

  • It's absolutely unbelievable that this song is over forty years old.

! Hans wherever you are, we thank you for such a wonderful song !

  • Here comes the sun o_O!

  • guys just wanted to lnow , is hans poulsen still alive ,the reason that im asking is that i have not heard anything about him for many years , please let me know

  • @60srocker46 - Hans Poulsen appeared on an episode of Burkes Backyard many years ago. Sadly he had a stroke and was in a wheelchair unable to sing the way he used to. I'm not sure if he is alive or not (not being negative).

  • brilliant

  • wtf v of vengeance is doing here!

  • the guy looked like he just came from Nimbin or the Amish but he produced a classic

  • I have this on a cd called Aussie Classics and Fun songs or something like that. There is some great music on it as well as this one.

  • LOVE this song so much! Thank you for posting. :)

  • Great. Fabulous.

  • That's the standard mainstream conception.

  • Tina Jones, I had a huge crush on you at school back in the 70's but I never told you. I hope you read this so you'll know now.

  • @smacker57 you've been pussy whipped for 40 years.

  • @nzoz1970 Umm no,..Now I have a slave:P

  • @smacker57 25 year olds in school uniforms locked up in dungeons - $100 charge..

  • Fuck I used to were FLARES OMG

  • Love it, takes me back to when i was a kid, sitting in the back seat of my 'old mans'' Kingswood, listening to the AM radio on a Sunday afternoon drive for a family picnic in the YouYangs !!!! Thanks for the fond memories NZOZ1970 !!!!!

  • @AussiePegasus01

jeese, we shared the same life , parallel universes , fond memories .

miss ya shirl the curl , why couldnt it of been red ;)

  • This reminds me of a year 11 day trip in a bus in early 1971 when I was at Parade College, Bundoora, Victoria, Australia. The teacher with us was a Christian Brother, Barry Coldrey, who had the rather unflattering nickname, Barry the Boong, because of his resemblance to an Asiatic. On the way back, Ian Orr had a guitar with him, started to play this, but singing it as 'Boong Sha La La Lo'. We all joined in, and sang it with a lot of emphasis on the word Boong each time.

  • A classmate in high adored this song and Hans. Wonder where she is and what became of her. That was way back in 1971-2 Rock on Hollywood High, Nedlands Western Australia

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then expereimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • Does anyone know how Hans is??

he was still in poor health last i heard.

  • @mrsgritoli1

    he is doing fine :)

  • @mbavers69 Good to hear, thanks for reply.

  • A simple song from a simpler time - and Mr Poulsens one blazing moment. Well done to him.

  • I love this & I love Hans Poulsen what a great songwriter. A simple song of hope & love minus modern day pretensions & postuering. What's funny about peace love & understanding

  • what a stoner lol thx for your excellent post as per usual NZOZ

  • iam 55 and i remember this song oh i remember

  • I met Hans at my sister's place not long after this clip was made. he was a delightful bloke but came across as nervous and unassuming.

  • YT viewers UNDER 50 yo could not POSSIBLY comprehend this ICONIC ERA in Australian Rock History. Hans Poulsen looks like the Immortal John Lennon of the late 60s here, to me. Kiddies under 50 yo - FYI - this was an era in Australia where, for a brief, GLORIOUS period, Widespread Communal Kindness & Generosity of Spirit blossomed like a SuperNova, within our Oz society. That means it was180-degrees different to today's "mega-insular, closed-in-tribal, me-me-me & nobody else is worth a shit" style

  • @colindominy Pissed myself laughing at your comment- looks like you swallowed a dictionary! Or are you Clive James with a pseudonym? Either way, gotta say I agree with everything you said. This was a song that had great meaning in its time- still does today!

  • @Gav1959 Am I entitled to take that as a compliment ? We both come from the same basic era in time in Oz Rock History. You're 52, me 56. The message of LOVE that Hans Poulsen espoused in this song still keeps on surfacing in rock music, even today. BUT very few listeners seem intelligent or attentive enough to see through the deliberate superficiality of some of the lines & lyrics in modern-day rock songs. I'm NO religionist, but LOVE is the ANSWER .. ultimately I hope that's shown to be true.

  • @colindominy You can take what I said as a compliment. I certainly did not mean any insult @ apologise if you took it as such. I agree with your thoughts- todays world is much more complex than the world we grew up in. So much harder for kids to grow up in. And love- todays youth (Gen Y if you wish) wouldn't know the true meaning of it!

  • @colindominy Good day .......

So , basically , what you are saying mister Colin is ,

it all went sour as soon as i was born ?

    lol

  • @colindominy i'M 49 AND i REMEMBER THIS ERA VERY WELL. mY SIBLINGS WERE A FAIT BIT OLDER AND THEY WERE ALWAYS PLAYING THIS SORT OF STUFF AND WATCHING IT ON THE SATURDAY MORNING SHOWS music shows back then

  • @colindominy How true. Take me back to the 70's.

  • @colindominy Amen to that brother.

  • @colindominy Sorry mate whilst 1970 was the best year of my life because of the music & growing up when AIDS PC & mobile phones didn't exist I think you are waxing a bit overly sentimental.Vietnam was still raging,Aussie society was fracturing over our troops being there, politicians were wankers & you still risked being bashed by dick head sharpies if you had long hair, run over by drunken yobbos or getting the clap depending where what or who you were doing-wouldn't trade 4 quids !

  • Dreadful song and the singer looks well creepy! Wouldn't ask him to babysit for me, put it that way!

  • @AIRDRIE2007 : You're only 49 yo & from The UK, to boot. How is it then that you DON'T fondly recall this END-ERA of the 60s + the rollover into the fabulous Early 70s, which were even better, music & culture wise, than the several years beforehand - e.g. 1968 or so. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you were only BORN in 1962 .. not 15 or so years earlier. In which case, you'd really have gotten into this 1970 Era of Rock Music History + the Fabulous Culture that went with it.

  • This is the first time I have heard this one but it won't be the last

    Nice!

  • visually...a reminder of the times where we long to be...thanx miss blue eyes for sharing it with me...vocally...george harrison sounds alittle like hans.... i REALLY liked this and will explore other songs by mr. poulsen... :)) mark

  • Have always loved this song and glad to hear it again. But did Tal Bachman also hear this song before writing "She's so High"?

  • This reminds me of a year 11 day trip in a bus in early 1971 when I was at Parade College, Bundoora, Victoria, Australia. The teacher with us was a Christian Brother, Barry Coldrey, who had the rather unflattering nickname, Barry the Boong, because of his resemblance to an Asiatic. On the way back, Ian Orr had a guitar with him, started to play this, but singing it as 'Boong Sha La La Lo. We all joined in, and sang it with a lot of emphasis on the word Boong each time.

  • This is from "Happening 70", the renamed "Uptight". It was done at Channel 0 in Nunawading.

  • Thank you for sharing this classic.

  • I loved his songs and thought he was really cool and he was...sadly he died some time back

  • Thanks for posting, what a great memory!

  • Oi My mum and

  • what a great song hard to believe that is 40years old

  • I would guess this as on IMT in Melbourne. Definitely a Channel 9 set.
