@KineticNK They last a long time until you walk into a NBC area. But, Military/SWAT/Police switch the filter before going into the area. So pretty much it won't matter if you rip it off but you should keep a couple at hand if your going through NBC areas. Hope I helped!

You need a special type of bottle to drink in it has valve at the top which the large black plastic bit goes in. That keeps the gas mask air tight that way.
