i do the same, but with pet tributes and films like Hachi a dogs tale.
Ok, some people are all, aw Snape loved Lily therefore he's innocent, and others are like, Snape bullied Harry, he's mean, heartless and cruel. I have these things to say. First, Snape isn't perfect, no one is. Second, people target him and forget that people like Dumbledore, Dobby, Petunia, Harry, Lily and basicly every person in Harry Potter has their cruel moments. People overlook Dumbledore with the 'aw but he hands out candy, and he's nice to people' attitude. VOLDEMORT WAS NICE TO PEOPLE!
Next, people overlook it, but what happens in your childhood has a MASSIVE impact on your adult hood. From just eating McDonalds during pregnancy to shaking a baby around can affect it. The Snape's were poor, so they wouldn't have been healthy. Then there's the fact that your personality is affected by both genes and environmental factors. If Snape grew up with loving, kind, caring parents he would have probably loved muggles, but he didn't.
Ever notice how the wizards who hate muggles grew up with muggles who were cruel to them? Harry didn't like muggles, he just didn't hate them because he's a goody-two-shoes. Notice how Merope Gaunt grew up with muggle predujice family, and she hated wizards?
Then look at his parents. His father was a cold, ruthless muggle who PHYSICALLY abused him. His mother was a cold, sour women who didn't abuse him but wasn't nice to him. Then there's the fact that how would YOU feel if the MAN YOU HATE the most marries the GIRL YOU LOVE the most? Combine the three, what do you get?
Also, may I add that James bullied him because Snape was a greasy haired kid and James was 'young and stupid, all kids are young and stupid! blah blah blah! crap crap crap!' Whereas Snape had a disliking for muggles because those were his beliefs! This is where you realise what he did for Lily. His beliefs were wrong and he found that out later in life, but to him, what he'd been taught, the Dark Arts were good and muggles were bad! Simple as that, that's what he honestly believed.
He treated muggle-borns with disdain. That's wrong. Probably what you thinking. But if you believed abortion was wrong and one of the kids in class believes it's write, you might not necessarily bully them, but you will treat them differently to everyone else. You'd treat them with disdain. Just like Snape, he never bullied them. Fair enough he watched them get bullied, but he'd had anough bullying, not a good idea to get bullied more than normal, is it?
His love for Lily just happened to be stronger than his love for the Dark Arts and muggle predujice. He gave up EVERYTHING he believed in just to save her. Everything. Would James do that? I don't think so....
@MsAppassionata :P he still bullied Snape. That's giving up everything? Snape died protecting the son of the man he hated the most and the one he loved the most. James didn't know what real heartbreak, poverty or sorrow was. James was just like Dudley and Draco, they stopped bullying in the end and went onto the light side :P
@Snivelly1997 Yes, dying is giving up everything. He bullied Snape when he was a teenager. Snape was an adult when he bullied Harry, a child. P.S.- I like Snape. I think he's very funny at times and also very brave but let's not gloss over his flaws.
@MsAppassionata James bullied Snape and a whole load of other people as a teenager, so therefore it's right? Dudley and Malfoy bullied people as teenagers too! No one tries to justify them :P
@Snivelly1997 I never said that I thought it was right, but they are teenagers. MAYBE, just MAYBE they'll mature as they get older, as did James. Of coarse, some people never do but that's another story. The fact still remains that Snape was an adult when he bullied Harry who was a child and really did not deserve Snape's enmity.
@Snivelly1997 As far as I have read here, there is no one offending Snape. More so, Every single person who read the books knows that Snape was innocent and, in fact, suffering more than most people during his whole life. Everyone has to admit that he deserves the greatest part of the praise. Personnaly, I fully agree that there are much other people (more) to blame; Dumbledore in the first place! As it had not been for his plan, Snape wouldn't have died when he did.
@yamifannetje I agree. Everything was Dumbledore's fault, and Snape does lots of stuff for the wizarding world and no one thanks him :( in Deathly Hallows, he's working for Dumbledore while working for Voldemort while running a school while trying to attack it and protect it at the same time. The reward? Death :P
@Snivelly1997 In some way, death may indeed be his "reward". Much fanfiction implies a very strong wish of Severus to finish it all off. He must have had, indeed, a very heavy burden to bear: teaching, grading, exams, he was Head of Slytherin, his spying work, the meetings of the order of the Phoenix,... and after all that he had his own emotional burden and pain to suffer.
@yamifannetje yeah, I thought that. He probably would have committed suicide anyway back when Lily died if Dumbledore hadn't told him not to. But still, Dumbledore could have made him feel better somehow rather than having him spend the rest of his life protecting the son of the man he hated the most and the women he loved the most and having the whole world against him :( At least Sirius still has friends and has fun, poor Snape just gets criticized :P
@Snivelly1997 The problem is Snape always isolated himself after losing Lily. Sirius never saw, nor admitted his faults. as did Snape. As Lupos hadn't told the story of their "joke" and if Harry hadn't seen that terrible memory, no one had known what Sirius had done with Severus. (since the "joke" was his idea) But all those work distracted Snape from his suicide thoughts, giving him some reason to live. And a chance to "make things up" with Lily; in his own heart.
@spartin001full same here. There are things in Snape I have myself. But there are very much more things he has I would like to have: his bravery, his strength, his talents,...I just want someone like him to love me :)
But I understand so well what he must have been trough during his whole life. Maybe his death should be seen as his being saved from a life he didn't deserve...
I wonder how he ended up in Slytherin. I mean... if not for his deep, unending love for Lily I could see no other place for him, but the hat takes choices into account.
If Lily was sorted first (and it's done alphabetically) then Severus would have chose to follow her to Gryffindor. Amirite?
Also, I find it a bit funny that everyone is calling her Lily, but Severus, Snape.
@StragglerTone Maybe because his Slytherin-characteristics simply were stronger than his feelings. It will always be the great question what exactly makes him a Slytherin. When he had grown up, he showed a variety off all four Houses. Caused by his bad childhood, among other things, he was broken, hurt, angry, afraid maybe...when he had to be sorted. The hat maybe never saw the real Severus.
And maybe he just wished it because he wanted to folow his mother, Eileen Prince?
I just realised what Snape's boggart would be! It's been bugging me for a while, I've always wondered what it would be, but now I kow, I think. Dumbledore's was his sister's corpse, so Snape's could be either Lily's corpse, or, more likely, Harry's corpse.
@oazzza In all fairness, James never got the chance to be a man. He died when he was 21 because he sacrificed his life by standing up to Voldemort when he was attempting to kill his son. The things James did to Snape he did when he was a child/teenager. Of course, Snape bullied children while he was an adult....so I don't think he was any better than James.
@ilcahp also, might I add that James was never bullied himself? I know what it's like to be bullied, it's not fun. I've been bullied all my life. But I moved school once and for once no one bullied me, and if you 'go with the flow' whether it's right or wrong you'll find you get bullied less. So when Snape was into the Dark Arts, he was not only into the Dark Arts, he was also making sure the other Slytherin's didn't bully him.
@Snivelly1997 I never said what James did was right. I said Snape was no better a man than James because the adult Snape bullied children in class. He bullied Harry, Hermione and Neville in particular. He wasn't a perfect character by any means and people seem to forget this because of his love for Lily. Just because Snape was bullied as a child doesn't give him the right to bully on students in his class........ even if one of them happens to be the son of the man who bullied him.
@oazzza james honestly pisses me off. I love snape soooooooo much! his whole life he was prone to rejection, humiliation, unhappiness, depression, loneliness, and abuse. Yet after his mistake he was loyal to dumbledore till the end. *sobs* i love him so much. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
@yamifannetje well put. Lilly put on a blind eye for that ass. Snape was sorry. He never said mudblood after the incident. In the princes tale (dh) when phineus is like 'the mudblood gir' Snape was like 'do not use that word.'.... *sobs uncontrollably* i love snape.
@diehardHPfanforever Indeed, I have thought about that too. And he didn't only say it because it did hurt him to much, waking that very memory, but in the first place because he knows how terrible hurting it is (and he respects Hermione; though he never admitted that) In fact, he was so much more than James, it only needed some time to grow, to blossom. The same can be said about his charism (and intelligence :) which Severus got much more at the end than Potter.
I don't think Lily had the right to ditch Snape. For starters off, one, he'd just done his OWLs, a bit stressful, then he has James bullying him and humiliating him, Lily comes to rescues, he yells "I dont' need help from a filthy mudblood like her!", 1 insult. She retaliates with "Fine! And I'd wash your pants if I were you, snivellus!" that's too insults, so she more than got her own back.
Second of all, Snape had trouble making friends as it was, then he comes into Slytherin, makes friends, is good at the dark arts and develops a passion for it. Dumbledore said that it was hard to resist it, Lily didn't know the dark arts so she couldn't judge, because she'd come out the same as Snape if she was in Slytherin. Even after 100 years of experience Dumbledore, the 'greatest wizard in history' couldn't resist when the opportunity arose. Lily needs to get a life! :P
so i have finally come to the conclusion that i am absolutely fine that lily was with james and not severus because lily doesn't deserve someone like sev she deserves to be with the insensitive toerag who is worse than the giant squid!
@siverwolf18 I know I want him to have someone...I just don't know who I would pick...I shall just imagine that he has a totally awesome wife that we never meet and his child goes to school a year under teddy but does not know snape is his father and his name is not snape...i go crazy sometimes lol
It's amazing what a novel like "Harry Potter" can change in our world. People all over the world stay together hoping that a character does this or does that...and some are thinking about such a dark (and first evil) character like Severus, discovering that he is a good one & starting to love him, to cry about his life & his death...thank you to everyone, who shares those moments with other!!!
I cried for 3 weeks and could not watch the movies without starting to cry all over again. My husband had to push me a little into finishing reading the rest of the book. Severus Snape farewell my sweet prince may the angels sing of your sleep till we meet again.
@Willowwitch69 Um, the Harry Potter books are well written, extremely entertaining, and contain wonderful memorable characters; that being said they were characters J.K. Rowling made up as she went along simply to earn a living. That's her job, she's a writer. She wouldn't be good at her job if her characters didn't move you. But to cry for 3 weeks, well I think it would be wise to spend a bit more time in the real world where there are real tragedies that r more deserving of your tears.
@Willowwitch69 Also, while angels do exist they will never sing for a fallen fictional character when real people who truly matter are taken from us every day. And you can never meet him again as you have not met him before as he does not exist in the real world. The only way you could ever "meet" him again is if J.K. Rowling writes a follow up book in which she brings him back to life. If fact you yourself could write a follow up book and bring him back to life because he is FICTIONAL!! .
@Willowwitch69 Fiction is supposed to entertain us, to move us, to inspire us, to distract us. Not to make us cry for 3 weeks! That's simply not healthy. Now if a REAL person you new and loved died and you cried for 3 weeks that would be fine. But a fictional wizard, that's indicative of mental health or emotional problems. Either that or you've seriously lost touch with reality...Now when Ben Reilly died in Spider-Man 75, that was truly sad...Peter, nay all of us lost a brother that day.
@Willowwitch69 Jk about that last bit...something else however that might make you want to cry. Imagine you've been traveling abroad for the last few years and when you return you find that the national debt has TRIPLED!! in the last 3 years that Oboma, Osama or whoever it is has been in office. The way that socialism is subtly being implemented and way people are being indoctrinated into believing the Muslim faith is a peaceful one (HA!) That's enough to make ME want to cry for 3 weeks.
@bluwing3459 it must have been Nassissa it's the only one i've heard that he makes an unbrakeable vow too as long as i remember at least
P.s. I've read the harry potter set about 4 or five times most books I've read more than 6 times but im not sure how many times I've read them all...........
@xXAlice4everXx they are NOT married shes married to lucis malfoy *rolls eyes* im an expert and snape would be much happyer with lily *dose dr da dr sighn*
@dragonsrule61398 what do you mean? i didn't say that they're married. i know they're not: she's draco's mother and lucius' wife. they're not marrying in the picture: they're making the unbreakable vow... -.-
Snape was my favourite character since the Philosopher's Stone! How can people hate him? He's got probably the most complex character in the whole series!
@dragonsrule61398 sweetie it's philosophers in england...and pretty much everywhere else only America decided they wanted to be idiots and changed it to confuse the hell out of worldwide fans (by the way sweetheart sorcerers stone if you're trying to correct someone at least try to spell things kind of right)
@dragonsrule61398 idioooooot! Sorcerer's Stone is the AMERICAN title, the original, BRITISH title is PHILOSOPHER'S Stone. I have the book and the film and both say PHILOSOPHER'S Stone. :P
After I read DH, I couldnt read the other books for a long time bc I was so pissed off that Harry always thought bad of Snape. Even though Snape didnt give him reason to think otherwise. =(
I like how you composed the song to fit his life but i have to say even though snape was on dumbledores side i stil dont like his charecter and if he loved lilly so much he would have kept that nose out of others buessiness and his mouth shut
Poor Snape, I used to really really hate him but after you learn about the whole Lilly thing (JKR was a genius with that) I felt sorry for him. Only one thing about the whole Snape and Lilly thing freaks me out that harry could have been snape's son
@GreekMythFan7 that's why he hated Harry. And had he been standing behind Harry in the Mirror of Erised in the Philosopher's Stone, he would probably of seen himself, with Lily, both smiling, and Harry, except without the scar or the glasses and Harry would probably have long hair. :D
I remember the first time I saw this video I though it was great but the text didn't really fit 'cause Snape doesn't live in a forest. But now, It really is the greatest song ever for him! You don't have to think if it literally at all and take the song text as some sort of metaphor and it is practically made for Severus Snape!! Thank you so much for uploading this, I love so!
well in the end he proved a hero but he was a prick to harry . remember order of the phoenix what he did to harry's potions! anyway i didn't want to die neither!

The Snape's were poor, so they wouldn't have been healthy. Then there's the fact that your personality is affected by both genes and environmental factors. If Snape grew up with loving, kind, caring parents he would have probably loved muggles, but he didn't.
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
Ever notice how the wizards who hate muggles grew up with muggles who were cruel to them? Harry didn't like muggles, he just didn't hate them because he's a goody-two-shoes. Notice how Merope Gaunt grew up with muggle predujice family, and she hated wizards?
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
Then look at his parents. His father was a cold, ruthless muggle who PHYSICALLY abused him. His mother was a cold, sour women who didn't abuse him but wasn't nice to him. Then there's the fact that how would YOU feel if the MAN YOU HATE the most marries the GIRL YOU LOVE the most? Combine the three, what do you get?
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
Also, may I add that James bullied him because Snape was a greasy haired kid and James was 'young and stupid, all kids are young and stupid! blah blah blah! crap crap crap!' Whereas Snape had a disliking for muggles because those were his beliefs! This is where you realise what he did for Lily. His beliefs were wrong and he found that out later in life, but to him, what he'd been taught, the Dark Arts were good and muggles were bad! Simple as that, that's what he honestly believed.
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
He treated muggle-borns with disdain. That's wrong. Probably what you thinking. But if you believed abortion was wrong and one of the kids in class believes it's write, you might not necessarily bully them, but you will treat them differently to everyone else. You'd treat them with disdain. Just like Snape, he never bullied them. Fair enough he watched them get bullied, but he'd had anough bullying, not a good idea to get bullied more than normal, is it?
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
His love for Lily just happened to be stronger than his love for the Dark Arts and muggle predujice. He gave up EVERYTHING he believed in just to save her. Everything. Would James do that? I don't think so....
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
@Snivelly1997 James did give up everything. He died trying to protect his family.
MsAppassionata 9 months ago
@MsAppassionata :P he still bullied Snape. That's giving up everything? Snape died protecting the son of the man he hated the most and the one he loved the most. James didn't know what real heartbreak, poverty or sorrow was. James was just like Dudley and Draco, they stopped bullying in the end and went onto the light side :P
Snivelly1997 9 months ago
@Snivelly1997 Yes, dying is giving up everything. He bullied Snape when he was a teenager. Snape was an adult when he bullied Harry, a child. P.S.- I like Snape. I think he's very funny at times and also very brave but let's not gloss over his flaws.
MsAppassionata 9 months ago
@MsAppassionata James bullied Snape and a whole load of other people as a teenager, so therefore it's right? Dudley and Malfoy bullied people as teenagers too! No one tries to justify them :P
Snivelly1997 9 months ago
@Snivelly1997 I never said that I thought it was right, but they are teenagers. MAYBE, just MAYBE they'll mature as they get older, as did James. Of coarse, some people never do but that's another story. The fact still remains that Snape was an adult when he bullied Harry who was a child and really did not deserve Snape's enmity.
MsAppassionata 9 months ago
@Snivelly1997 james deserved to die
t10015 9 months ago 2
@Snivelly1997 As far as I have read here, there is no one offending Snape. More so, Every single person who read the books knows that Snape was innocent and, in fact, suffering more than most people during his whole life. Everyone has to admit that he deserves the greatest part of the praise. Personnaly, I fully agree that there are much other people (more) to blame; Dumbledore in the first place! As it had not been for his plan, Snape wouldn't have died when he did.
yamifannetje 10 months ago
@yamifannetje I agree. Everything was Dumbledore's fault, and Snape does lots of stuff for the wizarding world and no one thanks him :( in Deathly Hallows, he's working for Dumbledore while working for Voldemort while running a school while trying to attack it and protect it at the same time. The reward? Death :P
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
@Snivelly1997 In some way, death may indeed be his "reward". Much fanfiction implies a very strong wish of Severus to finish it all off. He must have had, indeed, a very heavy burden to bear: teaching, grading, exams, he was Head of Slytherin, his spying work, the meetings of the order of the Phoenix,... and after all that he had his own emotional burden and pain to suffer.
yamifannetje 10 months ago
@yamifannetje yeah, I thought that. He probably would have committed suicide anyway back when Lily died if Dumbledore hadn't told him not to. But still, Dumbledore could have made him feel better somehow rather than having him spend the rest of his life protecting the son of the man he hated the most and the women he loved the most and having the whole world against him :( At least Sirius still has friends and has fun, poor Snape just gets criticized :P
Snivelly1997 10 months ago
@Snivelly1997 The problem is Snape always isolated himself after losing Lily. Sirius never saw, nor admitted his faults. as did Snape. As Lupos hadn't told the story of their "joke" and if Harry hadn't seen that terrible memory, no one had known what Sirius had done with Severus. (since the "joke" was his idea) But all those work distracted Snape from his suicide thoughts, giving him some reason to live. And a chance to "make things up" with Lily; in his own heart.
yamifannetje 10 months ago
Snape reminds me of myself..
spartin001full 10 months ago

StragglerTone 11 months ago
@StragglerTone Maybe because his Slytherin-characteristics simply were stronger than his feelings. It will always be the great question what exactly makes him a Slytherin. When he had grown up, he showed a variety off all four Houses. Caused by his bad childhood, among other things, he was broken, hurt, angry, afraid maybe...when he had to be sorted. The hat maybe never saw the real Severus.
And maybe he just wished it because he wanted to folow his mother, Eileen Prince?

This is so sweet :) Love the song!! and severus :) great Job wonderful video!
XxXSeverusluvXxX 11 months ago
I just realised what Snape's boggart would be! It's been bugging me for a while, I've always wondered what it would be, but now I kow, I think. Dumbledore's was his sister's corpse, so Snape's could be either Lily's corpse, or, more likely, Harry's corpse.
Snivelly1997 1 year ago
after reading all books, I must say that severus was much better man than james.
oazzza 1 year ago
@oazzza In all fairness, James never got the chance to be a man. He died when he was 21 because he sacrificed his life by standing up to Voldemort when he was attempting to kill his son. The things James did to Snape he did when he was a child/teenager. Of course, Snape bullied children while he was an adult....so I don't think he was any better than James.
ilcahp 1 year ago 3
@ilcahp oh, he did that as a child so that made it right? Well then, Snape was into the Dark Arts as a child so he's right, too!
Snivelly1997 1 year ago
@ilcahp also, might I add that James was never bullied himself? I know what it's like to be bullied, it's not fun. I've been bullied all my life. But I moved school once and for once no one bullied me, and if you 'go with the flow' whether it's right or wrong you'll find you get bullied less. So when Snape was into the Dark Arts, he was not only into the Dark Arts, he was also making sure the other Slytherin's didn't bully him.
Snivelly1997 1 year ago
@Snivelly1997 I never said what James did was right. I said Snape was no better a man than James because the adult Snape bullied children in class. He bullied Harry, Hermione and Neville in particular. He wasn't a perfect character by any means and people seem to forget this because of his love for Lily. Just because Snape was bullied as a child doesn't give him the right to bully on students in his class........ even if one of them happens to be the son of the man who bullied him.
ilcahp 1 year ago 3
@oazzza james honestly pisses me off. I love snape soooooooo much! his whole life he was prone to rejection, humiliation, unhappiness, depression, loneliness, and abuse. Yet after his mistake he was loyal to dumbledore till the end. *sobs* i love him so much. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

@diehardHPfanforever James isn't even worth to be mentioned anywhere Snape is involved.
yamifannetje 10 months ago
@yamifannetje well put. Lilly put on a blind eye for that ass. Snape was sorry. He never said mudblood after the incident. In the princes tale (dh) when phineus is like 'the mudblood gir' Snape was like 'do not use that word.'.... *sobs uncontrollably* i love snape.
diehardHPfanforever 10 months ago
@diehardHPfanforever Indeed, I have thought about that too. And he didn't only say it because it did hurt him to much, waking that very memory, but in the first place because he knows how terrible hurting it is (and he respects Hermione; though he never admitted that) In fact, he was so much more than James, it only needed some time to grow, to blossom. The same can be said about his charism (and intelligence :) which Severus got much more at the end than Potter.

Snivelly1997 1 year ago
I don't think Lily had the right to ditch Snape. For starters off, one, he'd just done his OWLs, a bit stressful, then he has James bullying him and humiliating him, Lily comes to rescues, he yells "I dont' need help from a filthy mudblood like her!", 1 insult. She retaliates with "Fine! And I'd wash your pants if I were you, snivellus!" that's too insults, so she more than got her own back.

Snivelly1997 1 year ago
Second of all, Snape had trouble making friends as it was, then he comes into Slytherin, makes friends, is good at the dark arts and develops a passion for it. Dumbledore said that it was hard to resist it, Lily didn't know the dark arts so she couldn't judge, because she'd come out the same as Snape if she was in Slytherin. Even after 100 years of experience Dumbledore, the 'greatest wizard in history' couldn't resist when the opportunity arose. Lily needs to get a life! :P

@Willowwitch69 its a fucking book
lethosgrimm 8 months ago
@Willowwitch69 Um, the Harry Potter books are well written, extremely entertaining, and contain wonderful memorable characters; that being said they were characters J.K. Rowling made up as she went along simply to earn a living. That's her job, she's a writer. She wouldn't be good at her job if her characters didn't move you. But to cry for 3 weeks, well I think it would be wise to spend a bit more time in the real world where there are real tragedies that r more deserving of your tears.
BenScarletSpider 8 months ago
@Willowwitch69 Also, while angels do exist they will never sing for a fallen fictional character when real people who truly matter are taken from us every day. And you can never meet him again as you have not met him before as he does not exist in the real world. The only way you could ever "meet" him again is if J.K. Rowling writes a follow up book in which she brings him back to life. If fact you yourself could write a follow up book and bring him back to life because he is FICTIONAL!! .
BenScarletSpider 8 months ago
@Willowwitch69 Fiction is supposed to entertain us, to move us, to inspire us, to distract us. Not to make us cry for 3 weeks! That's simply not healthy. Now if a REAL person you new and loved died and you cried for 3 weeks that would be fine. But a fictional wizard, that's indicative of mental health or emotional problems. Either that or you've seriously lost touch with reality...Now when Ben Reilly died in Spider-Man 75, that was truly sad...Peter, nay all of us lost a brother that day.
BenScarletSpider 8 months ago
@Willowwitch69 Jk about that last bit...something else however that might make you want to cry. Imagine you've been traveling abroad for the last few years and when you return you find that the national debt has TRIPLED!! in the last 3 years that Oboma, Osama or whoever it is has been in office. The way that socialism is subtly being implemented and way people are being indoctrinated into believing the Muslim faith is a peaceful one (HA!) That's enough to make ME want to cry for 3 weeks.
